Story

Tushy is a 4 month old french bulldog. She is cute as a button, and stubborn as an anvil. She is ready for a home of her own with another dog to play with and teach her the ropes, and an experienced owner. Tushy is healthy, happy, and always ready to play. She loves other dogs, and plays well, especially with larger dogs. She is good with cats, but does want to play with them, therefore only cats with prior dog experience would be a good fit. Tushy is very active, and needs a yard to run around in. Like many french bulldogs she is smart and stubborn. She has a strong personality, therefore we are looking for an experienced owner, and a family with another dog who will play with her and model good behavior for her, but who she will not fight with as she gets older. Tushy is smart and learns quickly; she is almost house trained, and is learning sit, stay, and other commands. She loves to run and play, and will do best with an active family. Tushy has had no health problems. However french bulldogs are genetically at risk of many issues, therefore we are looking for an adopter with an extensive previous vet reference. Tushy's adoption includes her full series of DHLPPi (distemper) vaccines, Bordetella and Rabies vaccines; fecal testing and complete deworming; spay; microchip; heartworm and flea and tick prevenative; 1 month of free pet insurance. Tushy will make a wonderful addition to any family. Meet Brown🧡 Brown was rescued from a slaughterhouse at a young age, together with his 4 siblings, including Tom and Kleon. * With People: Interacts well with people! Sniffs when a stranger approaches but feels awkward with touch and tends to move away. If there are treats, he will stay close, but without them, he still finds touch a bit strange. * With Dogs: Is not interested in other dogs and enjoys his alone time. 🐶 * With Cats: He gets overly excited when seeing cats, so it’s best to avoid encounters. * Separation Anxiety: Not confirmed as he resides with other dogs at the center. * Potty Training: Currently does only outdoor potty breaks at the center. * Hygiene: Is calm during baths. Though nervous and stiff during drying, he handles it well. Shows mild dislike during nail trimming but is never aggressive. Tolerates short brushing sessions. * Walks: Enjoys walking without any leash-pulling, keeping pace comfortably! 🐕 * Car sickness: He rests comfortably in the car without any signs of motion sickness. 💟Special Notes💟 * Feels more comfortable with a collar than a harness. * Is very independent. This beautiful girl came to us when her owner moved to Tennessee and was unable to find a place to live that allowed pets. Both Opal and her owner were heartbroken. Opal is a one and a half year old purebred white and fawn French bulldog. She weighs 22 pounds and she is now spayed, up-to-date on required vaccines, heartworm tested negative and micro chipped. She is a healthy little girl looking for her forever home. She is house trained, and she gets along ok with other dogs, but definitely wants to be the center of attention so she would do well with another laid-back dog or as an only dog. Story

Benoit (born: 12/12/2022), weighs 23 pounds and is a French Bulldog who knows how to sit, loves to run and play with the other dogs, has fun with his toys and enjoys having a treat. Born with a congenital eye issue, Benoit had to have surgery to remove his right eye when he was just 10 weeks old and he continues to have follow-ups with an ophthalmologist for his left eye. Benoit also developed a head tilt and the neurologist has diagnosed him with Hydrocephalus and the doctor prescribed Omeprazole – which is a medication he will have to take for life. Since Benoit is still a puppy, the dose for this medication will need to be adjusted as he gains weight. Benoit is also currently on antibiotics for approximately 3 – 4 months – the antibiotics were started 11/11/2023 and after another visit with the Neurologist again on 11/26/2023 it was confirmed he will continue. Benoit is also being tapered from a steroid that the neurologist put him on when his head tilt returned post neuter and nares surgery. It is a long taper of six months and began on 10/1/2023. The head tilt corrected itself for a while but has returned. The doctor believes it is an inner ear infection. He is also due for another revisit with the ophthalmologist for an updated evaluation of the one eye he has. UPDATE 2/11/2024: Benoit has finished his course of antibiotics and he no longer has an obvious head tilt. At his last visit with the neurologist on 1/13/2024, the doctor let us know that in addition to the Omeprazole that Benoit will have to be on a low dose of steroid for life. At his last visit with the ophthalmologist on 1/4/2024, the doctor let us know that Benoit should have annual visits for his eye and that if anything seems wrong with his eye at any time, not to wait and to have it checked out right away, otherwise he could lose the one eye he has. UPDATE 3/17/2024: Benoit had Neurolgy Consult/Follow-Up with his neurologist *per the neurologist, Benoit likely has OMI (Otitis Media/Interna) with exacerbation of underlying congenital malformations *Continue Simplicef 100mg sid for total of 6 months *Continue Prednisone 2.5mg eod long-term *Continue Omeprazole sid long-term *recheck with Neurologist 5 months post starting Simplicef UPDATE 3/28/2024: with Internal Medicine and Ophthalmologist – enucleation site has oozing and the Ophthalmologist says that it can take up to and over a year to completely heal. Per the culture of the site, Internal Medicine prescribed Zenoquin (resistant to other antibiotics for this issue) for at least 2 weeks – will recheck then to see if medication needs to be given for longer. Benoit is a complicated medical case and he will need to see a neurologist and an ophthalmologist for the rest of his life. We really appreciate that you want to give a shelter animal a home. When she was rescued, Ladybug was battling a raging skin infection from allergies and fleas. She is now on the mend and is slowly getting her hair back. Ladybug is an almost 2 year old spayed Pug weighing 10 lb. She is up to date on vaccines and heartworm prevention. Ladybug was completely trained on pee-pads but is slowly getting better at going potty outside. She does pull when walking but thankfully she is a little petite baby. She gets along great with other dogs and people and she's the biggest wiggle worm! She does love to rule the roost on a couch or recliner if allowed. Midge is the perfect dog for someone who wants to be the center of this girl's universe. She LOVES her humans and will spend the day checking in on you & mostly sleeping on a bed at your feet (her little tongue will be hanging out). She has a funny little face as a result of some trauma that occurred before she was rescued - we think she was hit or kicked by someone. As a result, she has had a lot of work done on her broken jaw which has left her with a snaggletooth look and a tongue that hangs out of her mouth. Yet with all that she's suffered this girl is happy and loving and friendly, even if you're meeting her for the first time! She will walk right into your home as if she belongs there (and maybe she does)! If you're looking for a sweet little companion, look no further than Midge! Miss Midge is a Pug mix who is about 9 years old and weighs 17 pounds. She is a laid-back girl who is so easygoing that she'll even let you dress her up as a princess, tiara included. Midge is well behaved in the car and she really loves her daily walks through the neighborhood. When she sees you grab the leash, she comes running so you can leash her up. She has a jaunty little walk and doesn't act her age one bit. Midge is great at going up & down stairs, especially if it's mealtime - there's no better time of the day for her! Midge currently lives with 2 other dogs in her foster home and has no problem keeping up with them even though they are half her age! We feel that Midge would do best as an only pet as she is very happy just being with humans. Midge should only go to a home where the children are older, perhaps 10+ years old. Midge listens well and, being food driven, is easily trained. She's smart, too - she knows to expect a treat when she comes inside from doing her business in the yard! Midge is housetrained, however, she may need a puppy pad if left alone for 6 hours. When she is left home alone, she has the freedom to roam the place – she does not like being crated and doesn’t need to be. Midge sleeps on her own bed through the night without incident but would love to sleep in the same room as her people if possible. She'll happily curl up on her own bed on the floor next to yours and you can hear her quietly snoring. Midge had 2 surgeries after being rescued to correct the damage to her jaw. Even after the surgeries, she has fistulas (holes) in the roof of her mouth. On a rare occasion kibble may get stuck in her nose but she usually just sneezes the food out so you don’t have to do anything about it. Midge currently requires a tiny sprinkle of medicinal powder on her food to ensure her pancreas functions properly. She eats a Blue Buffalo kibble for seniors which helps keep her pancreatitis in check. It's not prescription food but is readily available at pet stores and on Amazon. Midge just LOVES her food & gobbles it right down, making sure she hunts down every single kibble that might escape her bowl! Although Midge gets along with dogs, she might bark when she encounters new-to-her dogs on a walk. She sounds like a goat when she barks – it is actually quite cute!
