Story
Meet Tank! Tank is a larger-than-life, 2 year-old French bulldog (literally – he’s 38 pounds of pure love and fun!) with all the lovable traits you’d expect from a Frenchie: ridiculously handsome, goofy, affectionate, and a total social butterfly. Anyone who meets Tank is smitten on the spot, and he’s equally obsessed with every person he encounters! Tank is still a youngster with puppy energy to spare and a big heart to match. He’s learning the ropes of being a proper gentleman and picking things up quickly! His foster family has him on a routine to keep him on track – during the day, he gets frequent walks and does great. At night, he has his own setup in the kitchen with a crate (door open) and a wee-wee pad for potty needs. When he visits a home with a backyard, he’s already mastered heading to the back door when nature calls. With consistency and positive reinforcement, Tank is sure to thrive in any environment! This strong boy is still learning to harness his energy while on leash— Tank pulls with enthusiasm and gets excited by everything around him, from people to passing dogs and objects. He’s looking for a family with patience to help him with leash training and channel his excitement into good behavior. Tank loves to play, and his style is big, bouncy, and enthusiastic. Because of this, he’d do great with another dog in the home to be his playmate, but can be selective about his puppy friends, so a meet and greet is a must! He’s also a toy aficionado (big chewer alert!) and can demolish a bone in record time. Tank does well with children and is generally very gentle with them, though may occasionally give a little love nibble! If you’re ready to welcome a big-hearted, big-energy, and big-smiles kind of pup, Tank might be your perfect match. Are you ready to make this sweetheart part of your family? Tank is currently being fostered in Montclair, NJ, and his adoption fee is $600. Tank is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Orange Ginger is an angel. She's been loving her new foster home and is becoming more and more comfortable acclimating to her new enviornment every day. She does not like staying in the crate overnight/for long periods of time because of her past neglect. She sleeps in bed because she's a cuddler and will try to get your attention if she has to go out, so she doesn't go to the bathroom inside. It didn't seem like she was propely potty trained when we got her, but she's already been leanring to let us know she has to go outside. She's very smart and picks up on things quickly. She is blind in one eye, so sometimes she comes across as ditsy, but really she's just getting an understanding of her surroundings and quite frankly... it's adorable. She is unphazed by other dogs when we walk outside and new humans can either excite her or she wont even notice they're there. Personality & Characteristics: She's spunky, curious and as sweet as can be. Always wants to snuggle and know that her people are close by. My foster dog is good with: People My foster dog is: Low shed3 Keywords for your pup: Chill, sweet, lovebug Energy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy): 3Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: Quiet pupWalking Manners: Good! Although she's a little all over the place when she stops at every door where she can see her reflection. She wont tug on the leash or jump up on people around her and if she's sniffing something bad if you tell her to "leave it", she listens and moves on. Because she can't see out of her one eye, she's always stopping and turning her head to see everything around her. She's a southern gal and does not like to stay outside too long in the cold.Appetite: Good! We're getting her used to eating 3 times a day (kibble & pumpkin, but will eat anything)Does the following: She doesn't love the bath, but doesn't fuss. I think she has slight separation anxiety, but doesn't act out, just gets sad and confused when we leave. Favorite Things: Looking at her reflection in the mirror, chin and head scratches & snugglingCommands/Tricks: Currently learning the basics (sit, down, etc.) ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at  WaldosRescue.org  and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. Story
Benoit (born: 12/12/2022), weighs 23 pounds and is a French Bulldog who knows how to sit, loves to run and play with the other dogs, has fun with his toys and enjoys having a treat. Born with a congenital eye issue, Benoit had to have surgery to remove his right eye when he was just 10 weeks old and he continues to have follow-ups with an ophthalmologist for his left eye. Benoit also developed a head tilt and the neurologist has diagnosed him with Hydrocephalus and the doctor prescribed Omeprazole – which is a medication he will have to take for life. Since Benoit is still a puppy, the dose for this medication will need to be adjusted as he gains weight. Benoit is also currently on antibiotics for approximately 3 – 4 months – the antibiotics were started 11/11/2023 and after another visit with the Neurologist again on 11/26/2023 it was confirmed he will continue. Benoit is also being tapered from a steroid that the neurologist put him on when his head tilt returned post neuter and nares surgery. It is a long taper of six months and began on 10/1/2023. The head tilt corrected itself for a while but has returned. The doctor believes it is an inner ear infection. He is also due for another revisit with the ophthalmologist for an updated evaluation of the one eye he has. UPDATE 2/11/2024: Benoit has finished his course of antibiotics and he no longer has an obvious head tilt. At his last visit with the neurologist on 1/13/2024, the doctor let us know that in addition to the Omeprazole that Benoit will have to be on a low dose of steroid for life. At his last visit with the ophthalmologist on 1/4/2024, the doctor let us know that Benoit should have annual visits for his eye and that if anything seems wrong with his eye at any time, not to wait and to have it checked out right away, otherwise he could lose the one eye he has. UPDATE 3/17/2024: Benoit had Neurolgy Consult/Follow-Up with his neurologist *per the neurologist, Benoit likely has OMI (Otitis Media/Interna) with exacerbation of underlying congenital malformations *Continue Simplicef 100mg sid for total of 6 months *Continue Prednisone 2.5mg eod long-term *Continue Omeprazole sid long-term *recheck with Neurologist 5 months post starting Simplicef UPDATE 3/28/2024: with Internal Medicine and Ophthalmologist – enucleation site has oozing and the Ophthalmologist says that it can take up to and over a year to completely heal. Per the culture of the site, Internal Medicine prescribed Zenoquin (resistant to other antibiotics for this issue) for at least 2 weeks – will recheck then to see if medication needs to be given for longer. Benoit is a complicated medical case and he will need to see a neurologist and an ophthalmologist for the rest of his life. We really appreciate that you want to give a shelter animal a home.
