Story
Tater is an 18-month-old bunny in a bully dog body and even though we've had him since he was a puppy, my senior dog has decided he is not welcome, and with a toddler around, I can't have them disagreeing. We know Tater's mom was a medium-sized blue Frenchie, based on his appearance and goofiness we're guessing dad was a pitbull-type dog. He's about 50lbs, fully vetted, easy going, crate and house trained, loves his other dog friends, even if they don’t love him back, respects the cats if they stand their ground, but will chase if they run (won't hurt them, just annoy them). He's good on a leash, responsive to treat training, and eager to please. I have no doubt he will continue to thrive with a new family. He's been great with kids thus far, but he does bounce like a boxer, so maybe older kids are best. I have not come to this decision lightly; he is a loved member of the family, and I'm heartbroken that my senior dog has decided he can't share our home.

Story
Diamond came into rescue with her brother, Brody (also listed). They were surrendered by their owner when they could no longer care for them. Both of the dogs are purebred French bulldogs and we were told that they just turned a year old. They are both very friendly and spunky, ready to go, playful pups. We have introduced them to our big dogs and also our small dogs and they show no signs of aggression towards anyone, male or female. They have also shown no signs of food aggression or guarding so far, which is great! They are friendly dogs so they should do well with children. We do not know how they would be with cats but they seem to be pretty amenable to most. A slow, proper introduction should ensure all goes well. Both of the dogs are crate trained but we never guarantee fully housebroken. They have shown great social skills and are just the cutest, inside and out! We feel that they will do great in pretty much any home environment. Because they are frenchies, they can be at risk for breathing problems and other breed specific issues so we recommend reading up on all of the potential pros and cons of owning a frenchie. If you have always wanted one of these beautiful dogs but have not had a spare $3,000-$5,000 laying around, this might be your perfect opportunity to give a young, vibrant, healthy, and alreasy fully vetted frenchie a loving home for much less. You will also be helping many other rescue dogs in the process! Win-win!! Diamond saw the vet on 1/13/25 and was spayed and brought current on her yearly care. She weighed 18.1 pounds as of 1/13/25. She was heartworm negative but was fecal positive for hookworms. She was started on Simparica Trio for heartworm prevention and flea control and dewormed with Drontal plus for the hookworms. Diamond was not found to have any medical issues on her exam. She is a sweet girl who will make a wonderful, spunky, snuggly and playful companion! If interested in giving Diamond her forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). We will be using FBRN as a guide for the adoption fee so please contact us or google their adoption fee for a healthy frenchie under a year old to inquire about Diamond's adoption fee. The adoption fee will help to cover the cost of her vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Diamond based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for her, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.

Story
Meet Watson Doyle, a sweet senior French Bulldog with special needs. Watson has a unique swagger due to some mobility issues from arthritis and possibly an old injury to his right side. Even though he has limited vision, he gets around really well and doesn't bump into things. He seems to be able to see things that are close to him better.    Watson’s favorite times of day are naptime, mealtime, and bedtime. He loves back rubs and scratches. He doesn't mind being gently picked up and carried. He likes sitting with you sometimes but he's also mostly content to just be nearby in a dog bed. He can be vocal and will bark and howl occasionally. He may also whimper a little and wag his tail if he smells something tasty he’d like for you to share. As he's gotten more comfortable in his foster home, he’s started trotting to his foster mom when she gets home from an outing or when she’s got his food bowl ready. He’s such a special little guy that deserves to be pampered the rest of his life!   The Basics Age: Estimated 8 - 9 yrs old Weight: 17 lbs Spayed/Neutered: Yes Microchipped: Yes Vaccines Up-to-Date: Yes On Heartworm Prevention: Yes On Flea/Tick Prevention: Yes House-Trained: Yes, but may have accidents if left alone for long periods or if he walks to the door a few times and no one notices.  Crate-Trained: Not desired, does better left alone in a gated space. Leash Skills: Does okay on a leash, but better to carry him long distances.  Medical: Has limited vision and requires Tacrolimus eye drops twice a day and artificial tear drops as needed. Takes Vetprofen for pain/inflammation twice a day. Has some sensitivity in his backend, especially around his tail. Recent labs were good. Had a growth removed that was hanging from his chest - our vet felt it was slow growing and of no concern.    Likes/Dislikes  Toys: No interest in toys or chewing bones Other Animals: Seems to like the company of other animals. He's living with several other dogs in his foster home and has sniffed at a few of them and wagged his tail but hasn't engaged much otherwise.  People/Kids: Sweet with all, but needs a typically low key home  Car Rides: Usually sleeps on car rides. Separation: May bark or howl if he's aware you're leaving or have left him alone. His foster family usually lets him settle in a dog bed before they sneak out of the house.   Contact/Application Info  Questions? Contact his foster, Amber, at amber@bostonterriertn.org. Current location: Near Abingdon, VA Adoption Fee: $275 Ready to Apply to Adopt? Visit www.bostonterriertn.org!Please use the foster momma or dad's contact information above for questions. The process always begins with an application which can be found at The Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee website Note that in most cases, we do not adopt to families with small children, e.g., 'under 6,' as a precaution to the child's safety and the dog's safety. In some cases with larger Boston mixes or other dogs, we do make exceptions. Please ask the foster momma. We prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to personally drive/fly to get the dog.  The East Coast division (NC/SC/VA/MD/DC) does have special transport capabilties for their kids.   Ask them. Also, submission of an application and fee does not guarantee adoption of any specific Boston since that particular dog may have applications pending or may not be the right match for you.October 1, 2022, 10:21 pm
