Story
Hi, I am Pepper or Pep for short. I am about 1 year old, and I am thriving in my foster home after just a short time. My favorite things to chew are balls. I love tennis balls and soccer balls, although I don't always bring them back. I am easy to walk on the leash but I also like running around the yard. I can be very active and like to play but I also make a really good working companion by taking long naps while my foster parents' work. I am crate trained and am very responsive to treats. I am good at coming when called, thanks to the rewards I get and have responded well to training with treats (although the treats need to be the good stuff). I am a bit reactive to small critters, but with training I may be able to be redirected. I am very curious and just love to see what you are doing and spending time with you. Currently being fostered in Los Gatos, CA. IF you would like to meet her, please fill out a n adoption application on our website www.californiabullyrescue.org/adopt

Story
Zoe is petite and dainty. She loves affection and would be perfectly content sitting on your lap. She will happily walk around the neighborhood or the park and greet other dogs. But her favorite thing is stopping in front of a stranger and wait until they stop to pet her. She is a bit shy in new environments but it doesn't take her long to open up. Zoe is currently being fostered in Walnut Creek, CA. If you would like to meet her please fill out our adoption application on our website www.cabullyrescue.org/adopt

Story
Lilo is a gorgeous 11 months old girl who appears to be a pure French Bulldog. Her fur is a beautiful sable or dark gray commonly referred to as blue. She is still slightly over weight at about 31 pounds. She is a big girl. She is very affectionate and wants to be with her people at all times. She thinks she is a lap dog and wants to snore in a lap whenever possible. Remember she is 31 lbs :) She sleeps at my feet while I sew and wants to stay in close contact most of the time. She gets along well with the adults in the home and younger children but needs to be in a home with children over 15 yours old as she is a big girl and jumps. There were cats in her previous home, but it was reported that she may not be good with them. She has been to the dog park where we discovered she will play fetch with a tennis ball. She was not fond of a very forward 4 month old puppy and let him know it. She handled the unwanted attention like a champ firm but without aggression. Lilo is crate trained and mostly house broken, but needs some further training to get to the point where she will "ask" to go outside when she needs to. She is a young typical frenchie dog who is learning "off" and is catching on to the fact that jumping on people is not acceptable. She walks ok on a leash, but could use a bit more training. She is strong willed, but eager to please with so much potential to be an amazing girl. She will need a person/family who time and patience to provide her with more training so she can reach her potential and be the amazing funny girl she is meant to be.. Someone with previous bull dog, or a similar breed, would be ideal. She came to us as an owner surrender that was taken in by a cat rescue partner. The family who surrendered her reported that she was "definitely not pregnant." When she arrived it was obvious that she was very pregnant. A same day vet visit confirmed she was carrying a single puppy. A c-section was preformed the next day. Unfortunately her puppy did not survive. I'm aware the this breed is very popular, but they really should not exist as they are today. 90% require dangerous and very expensive c-sections because of their large heads and narrow hips. They simply are not designed to give birth naturally. Their flat faces sometimes lead to breathing issues. Lilo seems to breath fine and did well with anesthesia, but snores loudly and is prone to lots or snorting as is normal for the breed. If you love Frenchies, this is your chance to welcome one into your home without supporting a breeder. Lilo was spayed during her c-section and will never have to risk her life being pregnant again. If you would like to donate to help us pay her substantial vet bill please go to our web site where you will find a donate option. Thanks in advance! If you think you are up for the commitment of training this great dog please submit an application for adoption (1luckydogrescue.org). Please note, if you don't receive a return call within a few days, assume Lilo has found her forever home.

Story
French Bulldog Age: 2-3 yrs old Female, spayed 24 lbs Adoption Fee: Donation (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Mary Lou was brought to the Stockton shelter by someone who said they “found her.” The “finder” thought that maybe she had been hit by a car, which is why she didn’t have any use of her back legs? However, there were no signs of trauma. Given her breed and that she was obviously used for breeding with no signs of ever having a C-section, it is likely that she injured her back giving natural puppy birth (French Bulldogs require C-section surgery to safely birth puppies, but there are a lot of unscrupulous backyard breeders just trying to make a buck and taking shortcuts - leaving the dogs to suffer. Many of the dogs we work with that have no use of their back legs recover to some degree with work. Mary Lou hasn’t made much progress in this area, so will likely be a paraplegic dog for the remainder of her life. She prefers to drag the hind legs behind her, rather than using a cart. And because she doesn’t have use of her back legs, pee and pooping has it’s challenges, as well. In addition to no use of her back legs, she does have some medical conditions that are common to the bulldog breed (allergies, ear infections, and the occasional urinary tract infections associated with her urinary challenges). * * * * STOP BREEDING BULLDOGS!!!! * * * * Mary Lou qualifies for our “permanent foster” program where we support her vet needs for the remainder of her life (as long as she is fostered/adopted locally). On the other hand, she is super, super sweet. She loves everyone: humans and canines (and maybe cats? Not sure). She needs a home with no stairs, and where someone is home most of the time. She would prefer a home with another friendly dog. For more information about Mary Lou, contact nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com
