Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $250 Jenga's adoption fee has been partially sponsored by a generous donor! Jenga is a 3 year old French Bulldog who we rescued from the local shelter. A cold kennel is no place for such a handsome guy like Jenga! This dude is all the best parts of the Frenchie breed. Those who know and love Frenchies should look no further than Jenga. We will be prioritizing homes who have experience with this type of breed and are aware of their health concerns. Jenga has seen an eye specialist and is blind in one eye and is missing partial vision in the other. He still sees enough not to bump into things. To be honest, he’s so confident that it took us a few months to notice he couldn’t see too well, which says a lot about him! He doesn’t let a little thing like vision stop him from living his best life. The eye issue is not congential but rather a lack of care. He has damage to the corneas from an injury. Poor dude never got the help he needed to protect his eyes. It does give him a bit of a funny look, but we think it's adorable! Below is a note from Jenga’s foster.  Jenga is a very sweet dog who would love nothing more than to curl up on your lap and snuggle the day away. He sometimes gets the absolute funniest zoomies when he needs to get bursts of energy out, but he is a total couch potato. Unlike any other dog I have ever fostered, Jenga seems to know when screens are in front of him and loves to show off for attention on Zoom calls, which is a truly amazing skill for a dog who can’t see very well. When the camera calls, it calls!  He is just such a character.  Jenga wakes up around 8 AM and goes for a morning walk about half an hour later. He gets breakfast at 9 AM. When I work from home. he loves to cuddle next to me on the couch or take naps on the floor nearby. He gets another walk at around 6:30 PM and then gets his dinner. He goes to bed with me around 11:30 PM.  Jenga walks very well on the leash. He loves to sniff all the good smells out there and show off his amazing looks to his adoring public. Due to his vision issues, Jenga would do best as a solo dog in his forever home, as he startles easily when he is surprised. This distinguished gentleman is looking for his throne and we promised we’d deliver him one! Jenga is only an option for those who have prior dog experience, with priority given to those who understand the Frenchie breed. Kids in the home should be over the age of 7. November 5, 2024, 9:13 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $1200   Yam is a 2 year old French Bulldog who can’t wait to be the sweetest side at your Thanksgiving table! Yam was surrendered to our rescue to one of our amazing volunteers when her former home was no longer able to care for her. We promised to find her an amazing forever home and thus her fabulous new life began! We will be seeking a home that understands how amazing the Frenchie breed and personality is, as you’re in for a world of adventure and sass with a snorting Frenchie in your life! Yam weighs 19.8 pounds. If you’re ready to adopt the sweetest potato, pick up our prize-winning Yam today!       Yam is a snuggly, loving, and playful Frenchie with a desire to try all the snacks the world has to offer! Yam is the perfect blend of playful and laid back. She loves to get her play on, showing off her Frenchie-style zoomies, but once she’s gotten her fill, she’s conked out for hours! Yam is a total comedian who knows how to fill every minute of the day with humor and silly antics. She poses for photos like the best of them and charms everyone on the Zoom screen when she joins her people as they work from home. It’s hard to resist cooing over her when she shows off her adorable little blep tongue that sticks out constantly. She’s serving permanent #tongueouttuesday, we know! What a perfect little diva she is, making sure the world knows how fabulous she is! Yam would be a perfect addition to a home looking for a buddy ready for trips to the coffee shop for pup cups or to the local dog-friendly brewery for a burger of her own. She wins over everyone she meets with her easy going temperament and desire to get the most scratches in any situation she finds herself in. After a day of meeting her fans. Yam is ready for a reality tv show binge watch as she sits on her throne of blankets in the lap of her human. We know whoever is lucky enough to bring Yam home will be in for a lifetime of fun and adventure.  Yam wakes up around 8 AM (she loves to snore the early hours away) and meanders into the kitchen for her breakfast. Once she’s eaten her fill, she heads into the yard for potty and soaking up some California sunshine. She loves to trot around the yard as she carries around her favorite toy of the day. She’s a typical Frenchie in that she spends much of her day snoozing and lounging. She’s not looking to run a marathon anytime soon folks! She has dinner around 6 PM followed by a short walk around the neighborhood. In the evening, Yam hops up on the couch and rolls over for all the belly rubs. She catches up on her shows until she’s ready for bed. After one more potty trip, she curls up on a blanket and drifts off to sleep.  Yam lives with another Frenchie currently and gets along very well with her. She met a dog-confident cat and was very polite. She is more confident around older humans, but could be an option for calmer, well-behaved kids. Yam is crate trained and house trained. She walks well on a leash but does need some additional confidence building. Yam does have some resource guarding with food, so interested homes should be prepared to discuss continued training to work through this. Ready for the sweetest potato? Come adopt Yam!       Yam is only an option for homes with prior dog-owning experience, especially Frenchie-experienced homes. Kids should be over the age of 12. November 9, 2024, 8:54 pm

Story
Linus is part of Charlie Brown Litter. Holly mom is French Bull Dog /Boston Terrier mix. 2/16/24 DNA test results: Dad was a Cattle Dog 40% and 9% Border Collie. They should be medium size adults and smart. Holly was abandoned at a distant shelter and was very pregnant. Linus' DOB: 12/1/23. Once we rescued Holly and she arrived at her foster home within 2 hours she went into labor and gave birth to 5 puppies. 2 girls and 3 boys. Whew! Just in time. All the pups and mom did great at their foster home. Home raised healthy lovable and social. The 5 pups are now learning at their next foster home for puppy training. All are playful snuggly and lovable. We do not know what they are mixed with. They seem larger than Frenchie pups and have tails. We will start to review applications Jan 20th. Puppies will be 8 weeks old on Jan. 27th and will get their first vaccinations and deworm. Need home with attached backyard. More info. to come on each puppy's personality. 1/24/24 Update: The 3 boys are fairly similar all playful and slower than the girls. Linus and Snoopy are a little more timid but get more playful when riled up by Brody. All love attention and to be held. They all did very well getting their first shots and these puppies are extremely smart and well behaved for such young puppies. They are learning sit and not to bite and are all doing very very well. They will make wonderful family pets for someone. Their temperament is fantastic gentle playful and sweet. 2/9/24 Update 10 weeks old: Patty is definitely the smallest with smallest paws. Snoopy and Linus are about the same size 12 pounds and Patty is 10 lbs.. I think they will be medium sized dogs. Snoopy and Linus are slower and calmer. Patty is spunky and more independent and curious and a little more Frenchie personality . All learning crate training. Few accidents on pee pads now. They will hold to go out to backyard for potty biz. 3/15/24 Need foster home for one on one puppy training and socials.November 4, 2024, 2:12 pm

Story
French Bulldog Age: 2-3 yrs old Female, spayed 24 lbs Adoption Fee: Donation (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Mary Lou was brought to the Stockton shelter by someone who said they “found her.” The “finder” thought that maybe she had been hit by a car, which is why she didn’t have any use of her back legs? However, there were no signs of trauma. Given her breed and that she was obviously used for breeding with no signs of ever having a C-section, it is likely that she injured her back giving natural puppy birth (French Bulldogs require C-section surgery to safely birth puppies, but there are a lot of unscrupulous backyard breeders just trying to make a buck and taking shortcuts - leaving the dogs to suffer. Many of the dogs we work with that have no use of their back legs recover to some degree with work. Mary Lou hasn’t made much progress in this area, so will likely be a paraplegic dog for the remainder of her life. She prefers to drag the hind legs behind her, rather than using a cart. And because she doesn’t have use of her back legs, pee and pooping has it’s challenges, as well. In addition to no use of her back legs, she does have some medical conditions that are common to the bulldog breed (allergies, ear infections, and the occasional urinary tract infections associated with her urinary challenges). * * * * STOP BREEDING BULLDOGS!!!! * * * * Mary Lou qualifies for our “permanent foster” program where we support her vet needs for the remainder of her life (as long as she is fostered/adopted locally). On the other hand, she is super, super sweet. She loves everyone: humans and canines (and maybe cats? Not sure). She needs a home with no stairs, and where someone is home most of the time. She would prefer a home with another friendly dog. For more information about Mary Lou, contact nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com
