Story
I'm Creamy, a 6yr old French Bullhuahua seeking a new home due to life changes. I'm independent but enjoy quality time and affection. I politely request attention when wanted. House trained and tidy. Love relaxing days inside or in a sunny yard. Walk great on/off leash but prefer being carried around dogs/skateboarders. As I'm cute, newcomers will want to pet me so I'll give a warning bark to ensure they're alright. My human cared wonderfully for me but I need a home that can provide space to relax and watch over a yard. Eager to meet my new loving family! -Creamy Cyril: Creamy has been a fantastic friend since adoption. We have an incredibly close bond and he holds a special place in my heart. Unfortunately changes in my situation mean proper care for Creamy is no longer possible. It breaks my heart that I can't provide everything he needs anymore. I want to find Creamy a home that can provide the dedicated care, affection and freedom he thrives on. Do not hesitate to reach out.

Story
Meet Brown🧡 Brown was rescued from a slaughterhouse at a young age, together with his 4 siblings, including Tom and Kleon. * With People: Interacts well with people! Sniffs when a stranger approaches but feels awkward with touch and tends to move away. If there are treats, he will stay close, but without them, he still finds touch a bit strange. * With Dogs: Is not interested in other dogs and enjoys his alone time. 🐶 * With Cats: He gets overly excited when seeing cats, so it’s best to avoid encounters. * Separation Anxiety: Not confirmed as he resides with other dogs at the center. * Potty Training: Currently does only outdoor potty breaks at the center. * Hygiene: Is calm during baths. Though nervous and stiff during drying, he handles it well. Shows mild dislike during nail trimming but is never aggressive. Tolerates short brushing sessions. * Walks: Enjoys walking without any leash-pulling, keeping pace comfortably! 🐕 * Car sickness: He rests comfortably in the car without any signs of motion sickness. 💟Special Notes💟 * Feels more comfortable with a collar than a harness. * Is very independent. Loves his alone time and enjoys lying down to rest. ❗Health Condition ❗ * Neutered. * Microchipped. * His ear was bitten and torn by another dog at our center, and is now being treated.

Story
This funny mug belongs to Squashy Nice! We call her Squash, Squish, Squoosh, Smoosh, Shorty McSnorty, Speed Bump, or Buzzsaw ;) There’s probably more. How much time do you have? Squash is a petite Frenchie pup who had the misfortune to be used by a breeder, but when her basic medical needs started to put a dent in the profits, they abandoned her. She was found roaming the streets with such bad ear infections that the shelter thought she needed to have her ear canals closed permanently. Thankfully, after they saved her from moving vehicles, the shelter staff were able to start healing her ears with meds. Lucky girl! Because she can definitely hear! We finished the treatments with our awesome rescue vet, and now her ears look great and she's ready to find a responsible, loving family of her own! Squoosh was probably born around February 2023. She's not even two yet and has already been a mom, possibly more than once. She was emaciated when we first got her but looks great now at 22ish pounds – and it’s crucial for her health and joints that she doesn’t become overweight. She's a roly-poly little girl, not built like a greyhound at all :-) In fact, she's a lot like a potbelly pig, and she snorts enough to give the pigs a run for their money! She has the energy of an area rug, with an occasional zoomie thrown in ;) She was rather unruly, in the way of most adolescents, when she first walked through the door to her foster home, but she’s been working hard on her manners ever since! Her foster fam is so impressed with how much she has learned and how greatly her manners have improved. We know it's a lot for a lost little shelter dog to wrap their head around so quickly, and we’re really quite proud of her! And so, we are looking for pet parents who understand leadership and appreciate little puppies with lovely manners. We want to see Squash in a home with folks who will continue to reinforce her impressive behavior! Frenchies aren’t typically known for being polite and respectful, so we're excited to have the best mannered Frenchie on the planet in our rescue! She's a smart little gremlin and treat motivated too. You can't ask for much more than that. Squishy's forever family will have older children if any, and a peaceful, low energy environment preferably with a mellow companion dog. A fenced yard is required, doesn't have to be a big one. Stairs are difficult though, so a place without too many is best. She gets along with everyone she meets - although like most little dogs and like so many French bulls, she can be barky when she sees new people or dogs, but she'll turn it off if you ask her to! Her favorite hobbies include trying to steal the big dogs’ beds, taking naps, snuggling, farting (sometimes while napping/snuggling), eating, and laying in the middle of the floor in the best location to trip you up. Equally important, Squash's future family should fully understand the extra expenses that come with having a brachycephalic dog. These guys have been bred to look a certain way for human pleasure alone, but in doing so we've created a number of inherent health concerns. Many Frenchies need airway surgery so they can breathe easier - it's not cheap. Heat stroke is also a major concern when your face is smooshed back into your skull. A lot of bulldog types deal with skin issues and/or allergies (which a raw food diet can really help). Too many Frenchies are also afflicted with spinal issues, sometimes resulting in rear end paralysis. We’re looking for parents who are not afraid of the vet (and the cost), and who will be extra careful with her activity so she has less risk of spinal injury and IVDD. She already has a hitch in her step so she should take it easy, not be overly rambunctious, and absolutely no jumping on and off furniture. All this might seem like a tall ask, but if you want a fancy breeder dog, you’ve gotta accept all that comes with it. Frenchies are not the dog for everyone, but if you’re ready, hit us up! She’s a hoot and will keep you in stitches all day long. Even if she’s fast asleep! adoptions@waggingdog.org ~ Adoptions within Southern California only please ~ http://waggingdog.org/October 25, 2024, 12:15 am

*If you're interested in adopting Paris the first step is to complete an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org * This cutie is the last pup from our Eras litter still looking for her furever home! Their mom was a French bulldog, but dad is unknown (story of our lives!). But, we can expect them to be small when full grown. Paris’s ears have just decided to stand up in the last couple weeks. Her cuddly personality has come out more and more since her sister Cassandra got adopted. She loves cuddling and playing with other dogs, but does get intimidated around large, playful dogs initially. That said, she can hold her own! She loves cuddling with her golden retriever foster sister and running around with toys. Paris is starting to enjoy her walks now that she is fully vaccinated and loves being outside. She is eager to meet every person in her path and just wants to be best friends with everyone. She is super food motivated and eager to learn. Like all puppies, Paris will thrive with a patient family committed to all the training, socializing and activity required in owning a young dog. If you’re interested in adopting Paris, please head to our website to complete an adoption application! *If you're interested in adopting Paris the first step is to complete an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org * Paris is being fostered in Redondo Beach and her adoption fee is $600

Story
Meet Miss Chiquita Banana! Chiquita is an outgoing and loving dog. She loves everybody and everything around her. She loves to go on daily walks around the neighborhood and is great walking on leash. She also travels very well in the car. Chiquita has a great little personality and really just wants to sit with someone all day. Chiquita rarely barks but she does make some weird alien like noises at times. LOL Chiquita is being fostered with another small dog and they get along fine but we think she would prefer to be the only royalty in the family. Chiquita has been around cats, so maybe a cat peasant would be fine! Her favorite toy is the mini tennis ball, she loves to just carry it around with her. She loves to take long naps on the couch during the day. And sunbathing is part of her daily routine! Unfortunately, she had a really rough life before we rescued her. When we rescued her, she was so skinny, her coat was horrible, she had the worst case of Giardia (intestinal parasite), an injury to her left eye, a heart murmur and a partial intestinal blockage that by some miracle she was able to pass. Chiquita had a echocardiogram done on her heart and it revealed she has a couple of valves that are causing her murmur. It is not too bad right now, but at some point later in her life she may require medication, but for now she is doing fine heart wise! In regards to her eye, she had old corneal scarring and a corneal ulcer, all very painful for her. She had eye drops and ointment everyday in her left eye to help with the pain and pressure. The eye pressure was on the higher side of normal, but her eye was bulging and very red. She had very little to no vision in this eye too. So, we made the hard decision to have her eye removed so she can be pain free. Since getting the eye removed and she has healed from surgery, she is no longer in pain and as a result, has turned into a whole new dog. You can really see her whole personality shine through now! She is happy and playful!Chiquita is possibly the sweetest dog with the crappiest past we have come across in a long time. She loves people and delights in any amount of attention she receives. We are pretty sure she was just a puppy making machine. And when she couldn't do it anymore they threw her out like last night's garbage. Chiquita is a red Boston terrier and weighs about 17 pounds. She is full grown and we think she is about 6-7 years old. Chiquita is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, has gained a few pounds, all of her medical is cleared up and she is ready to go into her forever home. Our adoptions are restricted to residents within 30 miles of the South Bay area of Los Angeles. We do not ship animals or do long distance adoptions. See our adoption policies for more details on our adoption process.
