Story
French Bulldog Age: 2-3 yrs old Female, spayed 24 lbs Adoption Fee: Donation (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Mary Lou was brought to the Stockton shelter by someone who said they “found her.” The “finder” thought that maybe she had been hit by a car, which is why she didn’t have any use of her back legs? However, there were no signs of trauma. Given her breed and that she was obviously used for breeding with no signs of ever having a C-section, it is likely that she injured her back giving natural puppy birth (French Bulldogs require C-section surgery to safely birth puppies, but there are a lot of unscrupulous backyard breeders just trying to make a buck and taking shortcuts - leaving the dogs to suffer. Many of the dogs we work with that have no use of their back legs recover to some degree with work. Mary Lou hasn’t made much progress in this area, so will likely be a paraplegic dog for the remainder of her life. She prefers to drag the hind legs behind her, rather than using a cart. And because she doesn’t have use of her back legs, pee and pooping has it’s challenges, as well. In addition to no use of her back legs, she does have some medical conditions that are common to the bulldog breed (allergies, ear infections, and the occasional urinary tract infections associated with her urinary challenges). * * * * STOP BREEDING BULLDOGS!!!! * * * * Mary Lou qualifies for our “permanent foster” program where we support her vet needs for the remainder of her life (as long as she is fostered/adopted locally). On the other hand, she is super, super sweet. She loves everyone: humans and canines (and maybe cats? Not sure). She needs a home with no stairs, and where someone is home most of the time. She would prefer a home with another friendly dog. For more information about Mary Lou, contact nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com

Story
Linus is part of Charlie Brown Litter. Holly mom is French Bull Dog /Boston Terrier mix. 2/16/24 DNA test results: Dad was a Cattle Dog 40% and 9% Border Collie. They should be medium size adults and smart. Holly was abandoned at a distant shelter and was very pregnant. Linus' DOB: 12/1/23. Once we rescued Holly and she arrived at her foster home within 2 hours she went into labor and gave birth to 5 puppies. 2 girls and 3 boys. Whew! Just in time. All the pups and mom did great at their foster home. Home raised healthy lovable and social. The 5 pups are now learning at their next foster home for puppy training. All are playful snuggly and lovable. We do not know what they are mixed with. They seem larger than Frenchie pups and have tails. We will start to review applications Jan 20th. Puppies will be 8 weeks old on Jan. 27th and will get their first vaccinations and deworm. Need home with attached backyard. More info. to come on each puppy's personality. 1/24/24 Update: The 3 boys are fairly similar all playful and slower than the girls. Linus and Snoopy are a little more timid but get more playful when riled up by Brody. All love attention and to be held. They all did very well getting their first shots and these puppies are extremely smart and well behaved for such young puppies. They are learning sit and not to bite and are all doing very very well. They will make wonderful family pets for someone. Their temperament is fantastic gentle playful and sweet. 2/9/24 Update 10 weeks old: Patty is definitely the smallest with smallest paws. Snoopy and Linus are about the same size 12 pounds and Patty is 10 lbs.. I think they will be medium sized dogs. Snoopy and Linus are slower and calmer. Patty is spunky and more independent and curious and a little more Frenchie personality . All learning crate training. Few accidents on pee pads now. They will hold to go out to backyard for potty biz. 3/15/24 Need foster home for one on one puppy training and socials.November 4, 2024, 2:12 pm

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $1000   Lollipop is a 3 year old French Bulldog who’s ready to add a dash of sweetness and a huge helping of love to your life! Lollipop was rescued from the shelter where she had some dry skin and a broken heart from being left behind when her former home moved. We scooped her up, took her to the vet, and promised her a lifetime of snuggles and royal treatment. Those who love French Bulldogs will fall madly in love with her from the minute you meet her. Lollipop weighs 26 pounds and is just as cute as can be! We are seeking a home with experience with the flat-faces breed. Ready for the sweetest treat? Meet Lollipop!      Lollipop is a super friendly and outgoing gal who charms everyone she meets within minutes. She’s a huge snuggler who wants to love on her people as often as possible, often helping herself into your lap when she decides she’s ready for cuddles and belly rubs. Lollipop is an amazing WFH buddy for her foster mom, as she snores the hours away on her plush dog bed. Once she’s up and ready to play however, she’s pouncing on her pile of plush toys and spreading out her bounty. She loves anything soft that squeaks, so you’ll be supplying her with a toy chest that never reaches the bottom within a minute of meeting her. Like any Frenchie, our gal isn’t planning on running any marathons, but she does get adorable zoomies! She’s also endlessly funny and seems to have an internal monologue that comes out when she tilts her head like “What? I’m just being my fabulous self, humans!” She’s almost like a human in the body of a dog as she exemplifies humor and sass. If you’re ready for a lifetime of snores and snuggles, Lollipop is your gal!  Lollipop wakes up at 7 AM to go potty in the backyard. She heads out for a morning stroll at 7:30 AN and then comes home for breakfast. During the day, she alternates between lounging in the sunshine and playing with her toys. She is always happy to sneak an extra snack or two when her people are in the kitchen! Our girl is a total foodie. Once the workday ends, she goes out for another walk around the neighborhood. She has dinner around 7 PM followed by a snack. In the evenings, she hops up on the couch for some snuggles and belly rubs as she watches TV. She goes potty one last time and then heads to bed in her crate. Lollipop gets along well with other dogs. She has met humans of all ages and adores them all. Lollipop walks well on a leash and loves sniffing all the smells she can. She is potty trained and crate trained. She’s the typical Frenchie who snorts and snores with the best of them, so if you love Frenchies you will adore her! Come down to the DPS candy shop and meet Lollipop!      Lollipop is only an option for those with prior dog owning experience, particularly with the Frenchie breed. Kids should be over the age of 7.December 19, 2024, 8:00 pm

Story
Winston is absolutely the best baby ever. He loves cuddles and listens very well. He’s house trained and crate trained as well. He never barks unless you are playing with him. He is the best puppy ever, we just had to move suddenly and our jobs are now requiring much travel and we just can’t take him with us. He really does love to travel, especially on long road trips, but we are flying a lot and are nit able to take him when we are working. He’s the most easy going baby ever and anyone will love him. He is 5 months old. He is purebred. He will love everyone but he will definitely pick his person and he will be your shadow always. He will always want to be with you and protect you.

Story
English Bulldog Age: 2 yrs old Male, Neutered 33 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Otis was found as a stray and turned into the local shelter. He was pretty healthy, but had a condition called “cherry eye” in both eyes. Our vet attempted to fix both eyes - the success rate for this repair is about 50/50. One eye is healing nicely, the other may not be so lucky, time will tell. Cherry eye is mostly a cosmetic issue, and doesn’t affect their ability to see. English bulldogs in general often have LOTS of medical issues. The only other observable condition, so far, is a flea allergy. Otis had a lot of energy, a lot of humping and marking before he was neutered. Within a week following surgery, there was a big difference in his behavior. He is young and still energetic at times, but he is also very sweet and loves to cuddle. We pulled Otis at the same time we pulled another English Bulldog, a female named Courtney, from the same shelter. We thought that they may have come from the same home and were bonded. They do get along very well and probably bonded in a bulldog breed bonding sort of way. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. For more information about Otis, contact: nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com

Story
English Bulldog Age: 5-6 yrs old Female, Spayed 38 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Courtney was found as a stray and turned into the local shelter. She had an abscess on her paw that needed medical attention. Upon evaluation by our vet, it was observed that she also has dry eye syndrome, ectropion eyelids that turn in, but her corneas were in pretty good shape. There were also sutures still in place on her lower abdominal area. The incision was too small for a recent C-section and there were no other signs that she had been recently pregnant (although she has likely had puppies in the past). It could have been from a recent spay, but lab testing indicated that she was still intact. It is a mystery as to why the incision w/ sutures was there. Our vet spayed her and fixed her eyelids. She is on ointment and eye drops for the chronic dry eyes, but it is possible that this will correct itself over time. English bulldogs in general often have LOTS of medical issues. Courtney had some domination issues with the volunteers when she first came to us. After some consistent and stringent correction, that behavior considerably lessened, but she will need to be monitored when meeting strangers. Otherwise, she is very sweet and loves attention. We pulled Courtney at the same time we pulled another English Bulldog, a male named Otis, from the same shelter. We thought that they may have come from the same home and were bonded. They do get along very well and probably bonded in a bulldog breed bonding sort of way. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13.
