PENDING ADOPTION AS OF 9/27/24
We rescued this very well-behaved, mild-mannered Frenchie from SEAACA. He sleeps soundly throughout the night, isn’t a barker, and has been doing great with his outdoor potty breaks. Archie is a wonderful dog who gets along well with everyone, and it's hard to understand how he ended up in the shelter system.
He was impounded due to severe breathing trouble, which we believe was caused by fear from the Fourth of July fireworks. His elongated soft palate was affecting his breathing, but we took him to our vet for a very important surgery to correct this issue. After undergoing a Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS) Soft Palate Resection, he is now breathing wonderfully!
[If you are unfamiliar with BOAS - it is a very very very expensive surgery, IE: thousands of dollars +/- $6,000.00 so we are not surprised his old owners could not afford (or would not spend the money?) to address his poor breathing].
Archie is playful, sweet, and fully housetrained. He would make a fantastic family dog and would certainly enjoy having a playmate. He has been neutered, microchipped, and is up to date on vaccinations. Shelter paperwork indicates he is between 1-5 years old, but our vet believes he’s closer to 2-3 years. While we can’t guarantee his exact age, we’re relying on both the shelter's documentation and our vet's evaluation.
The rescue has covered all costs for the BOAS surgery, neuter, microchip, harness, permanent reunification ID tags, and vaccinations (DHPP/Rabies) as part of this adoption.
Neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, Archie gets along wonderfully with kids, cats, and dogs—truly the perfect companion!
PLEASE NO CALLS OR TEXTS, AS WE ARE ALL VOLUNTEERS. If you’re interested, please complete an application at: saveabowwow.com/rescue/adoption-form.
If a dog is listed, it is available for adoption.
****Once a dog is pending adoption, this page will be updated accordingly.****
We are an all-volunteer nonprofit organization and do not have anyone available to monitor the many phone calls we receive each day. We would be happy to review your application and, ideally, approve you to provide our rescued dog with a loving adoptive home if your situation is the right fit for this awesome dog. All breeds and ages are our veterinarians best educated guess (unless otherwise stated that our group has breeder paperwork)
Thank you for your interest and for reading this listing in its entirety!
Fine Print:
-All Frenchies must be walked with a harness (never on a neck collar).
-The rescue requires adoptive family to obtain pet insurance for coverage of congenital and hereditary conditions. This is for any of the dogs in our rescue identified as a Pug, French Bulldog or similar. Adoption will be finalized once the proof of pet insurance requirement is met. (There are some great policies ranging between $28-50per month)
-We have an open door policy and are always here to discuss anything that may arise with your adoptive pet. After an adoption is conducted please do not hesitate to reach out.
-This breed generally speaking cannot swim and will sink like bowling balls so we do not adopt out to any homes with unfenced pools.
