Story
Potter is a special needs pup with hydrocephalus; he needs a family that will keep his head safe and be ok with his developmental delays. WHAT IS YOUR NAME? My name is Potter, Hydrocephalus Superhero. ARE YOU A GIRL OR A BOY? I’m a little boy. HOW OLD ARE YOU? I was born around January 28, 2023. WHAT BREED ARE YOU? I’m a French Bulldog. HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? 18lbs WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I am a cute, little guy! I’m white and brindle piebald, whatever piebald means. I have a little arrow marking on my forehead and white frosting on my ears. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? I like moist kibble and dog-friendly treats. I’m not too sure about the carrots or apples that my foster mom offers me, but if you gave me some chicken or other tasty dog-friendly food from your plate, I would probably gobble it up! WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? Well, I’m not sure if you know, but I’m kind of a big deal! And all the things that make me different are the same things that make me special. I’m sweet and spunky and living in the moment is my style. I am playful and love to wrestle and chew on my foster brother Tater. I’ve been told I can be kinda demanding; sometimes, I fuss and bark to let you know I want attention, food, or need to go potty. Sometimes, I howl when I’m in my carrier or crate because I want out! But I settle down easily. DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: My perfect day starts with a “good morning, Potter” and scratchies from my foster mom. Then I do a big stretch, go potty, and get ready for breakfast. Sometimes, I go back to sleep for a bit afterward. Once I’m up, I’m ready to play, explore, and find something to chew on like my Benebone. I eat lunch and nap. I spend time chilling, playing tug-o-war, maybe have another nap, and more exploring. I take my medication at 7:00 p.m. sharp and start my bedtime routine of chewing a yak stick, and then snuggle and sleep. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? Anything to tug-o-war and my yak stick. If you let me, I will nibble your fingers and toes. Sometimes I wrestle the dog bed and drag it as far as I can! DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? No, but I know my name and I come when being called. I’m not sure about learning more. WHAT SCARES YOU? Sometimes loud noises and sudden overhead movement can be scary. I’m little, so people standing over me make me cower or try to get away. HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? DO YOU LIKE THEM? Yes, but because I can’t play rough and need to be safe guarded, it’s best if I am around older kids that understand. DO YOU LIKE CATS? I don’t think I’ve met a cat, so I am not sure. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I LOVE other dogs. They are fun, but being around gentle dogs that are not too big, who won’t knock me over, or squish me, is safer. IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? Hanging out with my person or forever family doing whatever they’re doing. I’m easy going. HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? I was born with Hydrocephalus. I have no idea what that is, but like I said, I’m a superhero and I’m gonna live every day to the fullest. Hydro makes me wobble around, unsteady on my feet, and fall over, but it doesn’t slow me down or stop me from having fun! Humans must be careful with me and ensure my head is protected as much as possible. Other than that, I’m great! Did I mention I am kind of a big deal? WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? I live with my foster mom and my foster brother. I love them both! I really like my foster brother because he lets me chew on him. WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I stay in my very own X-pen with toys and a fluffy bed to lounge on, access to my food and water, and plenty of room to potty if I need to. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? I sleep on my comfy bed in my very own penned area – you know, superhero style. Sometimes, I fall asleep with my foster mom and magically wake up in my bed. I think it must be one of my superpowers. DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? The most important thing for me with walks is that I won’t be going on any walks on the hard pavement. I’ll probably be more of a explore and stumble around on the soft grass kind of guy…. In case I fall over. DO YOU HAVE ANY "NOT-SO-GREAT" HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? FOR INSTANCE, DO YOU BARK OR DIG IN THE YARD? Um, I like to bark demands and do mischievous stuff, like tear up my potty pads when bored… I don’t think that is so bad. ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED? (MEANING DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE) No, I go potty on potty pads and sometimes I just go wherever I happen to be. I might be able to be potty-trained, but you’ll have to be very patient with me. DO YOU LIKE WATER? Only to drink and for bathing. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? I love that they protect me, are patient and kind, play with me, and love me. I’m living the dream. WHAT WAS YOUR LIFE LIKE BEFORE BEING BROUGHT INTO NORCAL BULLY BREED RESCUE? I was born different, so some nice ladies rescued me and brought me from far away to NorCal. Now, I live in a wonderful foster home and my future is wide open… Did I mention I am kind of a big deal? If you’d like to have a superhero in your life, I am SO ready to love you forever! **Potter's adoption fee is $1,000.00** If you are interested in adopting Potter, please jump on our website and read why about the adoption fees for special breeds BEFORE filling out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org At this time, we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding areas. Story
WHAT IS YOUR NAME? Hi, I’m Peaches! 🍑 ARE YOU A BOY OR A GIRL? I’m a darling little girl. 🎀 HOW OLD ARE YOU? I am approximately five years old as of the end of 2024. WHAT BREED ARE YOU? I’m a French-fry! Well, they say I am a French Bulldog, but I identify as a potato and the best kind of potatoes are fries. 🍟🥔 HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? I am a tiny little 16 pound nugget. WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I am a fawn-coated little lady with a white splash above my nose, satellite ears, the sweetest eyes, and the MOST amazing underbite that shows off my adorable teefs. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? I eat my kibble like the good little girl that I am. But I won’t turn down pretty much anything else that is offered, or that falls on the floor in my vicinity! 🤭 WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? I am as sweet as a peach. I am goofy and love to dance on my hind legs when I am happy or excited. My preferred position is snuggled up with a human, seconded by snuggling up with a doggy friend. I want to please and am enjoying learning new things. DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: I wake up and do a biiiiiig stretch before I head outside for potty time. After breakfast, I like to take a quick walk to help with digestion and get some sniffs in. I spend a good portion of the day napping with a human while they work from home or hanging calmly with my dog friends. After dinner, I love to play ball or just run around with the kids in the yard. Then it’s sleepy time after a very fun day! 💤 WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? I am still figuring that out. I am not overly interested in toys unless someone else is first. But I do like the crinkly toys, and will chase a ball if you make it sound exciting. 🎾 DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? I learned how to sit very quickly, and I know how to “go to bed” when told to. That is not only a super cute trick, but it is such a good girl thing to do, right?!? I am a skilled ballerina as I dance around on my hind legs! I am learning how to wait patiently at the door to be invited in/out. That’s a tough one, but I am smart and well behaved so I am working hard on it! WHAT SCARES YOU? Being left completely alone is a little scary. I’ve been practicing and, even though I still don’t like it, I am much calmer about it. Other than that, as long as I have a human or a dog friend nearby, I’m not afraid of anything! Oh, and I have to admit that the Frenchie side of me thinks the bottom of an empty food dish is terrifying, but it happens every day and so far I have survived (somehow). HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? Yes! I have been around kids of all ages, and I am good with everyone! DO YOU LIKE CATS? I’m not really interested in cats, except to try to sneak their yummy food! I have never tried to chase the cat in my foster home. My foster mom says that’s a good thing, because it means I’m a good girl, plus the cat is BIGGER than I am! Other than the occasional sniff and lick, we mind our own business. 🐱 HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I want to be friends with every dog I see. I am a little sassy to potential new friends when I am on a leash, but I figure out quickly that they are not trying to take all the attention away from me. 🐶 IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? Snuggled up with a human, snoring! Either in the sun or under a blanket, dealer’s choice there. HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? I am a healthy girl. 😁 WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? I live with my foster mom and her three boys, ranging in age from eight to 14 years, plus two doggy friends, a cat, a tortoise, and six chickens. I am really into my foster mom and we hang out since she works from home. I like when the boys play video games or read books so I can cuddle with them. WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I hang out in my crate. It’s a safe place and I have learned to really like it. The resident dogs have crates right next to mine so I am not alone. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? At bed time I sleep in my crate. During the day, I sleep on the couch, on the chair, in the sun, on the other dogs… I really excel at naps. 😴 DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? I do! I only have about a mile in me before I am spent, but the outside world is exciting. 🦮 DO YOU HAVE ANY “NOT SO GREAT” HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? Well, I personally wouldn’t call it a “bad habit” so much as a super power! I am really small and like to take advantage of my small stature to squeeze into places that I shouldn’t be, or out of places that I SHOULD be! The humans have figured me out, though, and they protect me from my adventures.🤨 ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED (DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE)? I am a work in progress with potty training. I will use potty pads in my pen. I need patience and structure to help me learn to potty outside, and I hope you will give me the guidance I need to learn what to do at your house. DO YOU LIKE WATER? I like to hydrate. I am a water drinking champion. But do I like getting wet? What do they say about gremlins? That’s what my foster mom says about me. I have had a few baths…they were awful. 0/10 don’t recommend. The treats and towel dry after the baths *almost* make them worth it. 🛁 WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? They are really kind to me. Even when I make a mistake, they remind me I am a good girl and we try again. I am super motivated by praise and treats. WHAT WAS YOUR LIFE LIKE BEFORE BEING BROUGHT INTO NORCAL BULLY BREED RESCUE? I don’t remember much about it, really. All I know is that an amazing Good Samaritan found me running down the street. I wasn’t feeling well, and they helped nurse me back to health. Then NorCal Bully Breed Rescue took me into their care to help me find the perfect family that will love me forever. Will you take me home with you? 💖 **PEACHES’ ADOPTION FEE IS $1,000** If you are interested in PEACHES please jump on our website and fill out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org At this time we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding For more information on what that means and why that is, please click on the following link: https://www.facebook.com/333019703483910/posts/3264412130344638/?extid=0&d=n Thank you so much in advance for understanding!!!

Story
WHAT IS YOUR NAME? Hi! I’m Mía! ARE YOU A BOY OR A GIRL? I am a very pretty girl. HOW OLD ARE YOU? I was born on March 21, 2022! WHAT BREED ARE YOU? I am a French bulldog. HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? I weigh 24 pounds! WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I am a blue merle, so my coat is swirl of grey and white! My beautiful hazel eyes are quite mesmerizing, but my main showstopper is my adorable floppy left ear! WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? I love food and would eat anything I'm given. However, I have some allergies to chicken and other poultry products. My favorite treats are salmon bites my foster mom gives me! WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? I am perky and energetic! I love to chew on my squeaky toys or be cuddled while getting a belly rub. I love love LOVE being with my humans! But my most favorite thing to do is steal toys and play catch me if you can! DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: My perfect day is eat, play, sleep, cuddle on repeat! WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? My favorite toys are the ones I steal from others! Especially the rubber spikey kong balls, squeaky toys, or the Benebones! DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? I know "sit" so far! And I know to go to my crate when it's time to eat or sleep. WHAT SCARES YOU? I have a case of FOMO (fear of missing out) but that's about all so far. HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? Yes, I've only met older kids so far (9+ years old). I like that they give me a lot of attention and love to play with me and my toys! DO YOU LIKE CATS? I haven't met a cat. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I like them a lot, big or small! Especially playing keep away with toys! It's my favorite game! Though since I can be a toy hog, slow introductions are important. IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? I love to be with my humans getting attention or just cuddling on the couch. When it's warm out, I do love sunbathing! HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? I’m an IVDD survivor! I have recovered amazingly from surgery and just have a little wobble when I walk. So I use soft stairs to go up and down the couch, and I avoid hard stairs. Did I mention I'm allergic to poultry? Typical Frenchie right? WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? I live with my foster mom, foster grandma, and five other dogs! There are two large Cane Corsos, two other frenchies (Peru and Billy), and something called a "chiwhatwhat.” I'm closest to my foster mom because she took such good care of me while I healed, but also because she's my snack supplier. Though, I have a little crush on Peru and like stealing his toys to make him chase me. WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I hang in my x-pen area or an extra large crate. I have enough room to stretch my legs WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? Same as my hangout area. DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? I’m pretty great on leash and love going on walks and adventures! Though my walks aren't very long just yet since I'm slowly building up my muscles and stamina. DO YOU HAVE ANY “NOT SO GREAT” HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? Well, I guess stealing toys is frowned upon by some when I get overzealous about it. So toys have been a slow introduction when in shared spaces. ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED (DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE)? I use a doggy door with confidence if I have access to it! Though if there's a potty pad in my x-pen, I'll use that too. DO YOU LIKE WATER? I LOVE to slurp it, not sure how I would feel about a splash pad on a hot day, but I’m willing to try it out when the weather warms up! No swimming pools for me. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? They make me feel safe and loved, and give me so many toys to play with! WHAT WAS YOUR LIFE LIKE BEFORE BEING BROUGHT INTO NORCAL BULLY BREED RESCUED? Well, I was used for breeding, then given up when it took a toll on my body. The vet hospital that did my surgery contacted NorCal Bully Breed Rescue to help me find a loving home. Now that I’m all healed up, I am ready to spend the rest of my fabulous life being loved and cuddled and playing and going on walks. And did I mention love? I would LOVE to love you forever if you give me a chance! **MIA'S ADOPTION FEE IS $ 1,500.** If you are interested in adopting MIA, please jump on our website and fill out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org For information on why our Bulldog fees are set as they are, please click on the following link: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=5004742079644959&id=333019703483910&mibextid=qC1gEa At this time, we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding areas (which means Sacramento County, parts of El Dorado County and parts of Placer County). Story
Meet the cutest bundle of joy - Gizmo!   Gizmo is estimated to be about a year old and he is oh-so-ready to be your new BFF. Gizmo is the type of dog that everyone instantly falls in love with and we have all fallen head over heels in love with him. He's affectionate, goofy, cuddly, and social. What more can you ask for? He would thrive in a home where he would get lots of attention and not have to be alone often. Gizmo is fully grown and weighs just under 20lbs. Gizmo came to us after a dog groomer found him wandering on the streets with a fractured leg. She was able to connect with our partners, the UC Davis Fracture Program, and together we were able to get him the care he needed and a foster home to recover in. Gizmo is all healed up and just got the all-clear from his surgeons that he is ready for adoption! Gizmo is such a little lovebug and he loves nothing more than cuddling with his foster parents. Up until this point, he has been on restricted activity, but he has shown to have a pretty mellow personality. Now and then he will get bursts of energy and will find a toy to romp around with. Gizmo is a well-mannered guy who knows his basic manners but would benefit from continued training to help him be the best boy he can be. He enjoys his leisurely walks and seems like he would be a great buddy to bring along for adventures around town. Gizmo has done well with the dogs he has met and is respectful of the senior dog in his foster home. He could enjoy having a buddy his size to play with, but he also wouldn't mind being your spoiled-only dog. Gizmo has done well living with a cat with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Gizmo seems like he would be a wonderful family dog for a family with kids 7 years and older. Gizmo is housetrained in his foster home, but his new family should expect accidents while he is adjusting to a new routine and environment. He isn't the biggest fan of his crate, but he is content to hang out in there when home alone and overnight. He also would love if he could sleep in bed with you. Gizmo has done well being left for short periods but would do best with a family who doesn't have to leave him home often or for long since he loves to be with his humans. **Due to being a pug mix, Gizmo could be prone to medical conditions like back and joint issues. His new family should be prepared to take on any medical expenses that may arise in the future.** Gizmo is such a loveable boy and he deserves a family just as great as him. If you think that might be you, submit an adoption application today!   Gizmo's adoption fee is $500.   Apply to adopt here!   https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. January 11, 2025, 2:44 pm
