Meet Estrella — Our Shining Star Looking for a Foster or Adopter! Estrella (Spanish for star) is a sweet, gentle 2-year-old girl in Virginia Beach who’s ready to leave her board-and-train program and finally settle into a loving home. &#226&#156&#168 About Estrella: • 45 lbs, spayed, 4DX negative and on prevention  • Great with dogs and cats • Shy at first and a bit fearful of men, but warms up beautifully with patience • Spent the last 2 months building confidence and social skills in a board and train program, her foster/adopter can get all the insights into her training and hopefully help her continue moving forward. Left tied to a rescue gate as a puppy, Estrella has come such a long way and deserves a place to feel safe and loved. She’s not a “just anyone” dog — she needs someone kind and patient — but she will reward you with lifelong loyalty and affection. We are urgently seeking a foster home in Virginia Beach help this girl acclimate back into a home. If you can help this beautiful girl take her next step, we’d be so grateful. She was trapped by animal control and gave birth to 5 boys 4 days after. This was all traumatic to her and very stressful. She was a great mom and now deserves someone special like herself. She is walking much better on a leash now and not flinching as much with touch. She will require an experienced handler only because shes so nervous. She has zero aggression. Wilda does open up around other dogs. She enjoys being a follower and when she trusts you, its a great feeling. A dog like wilda will bond so strongly to her person and make you feel like your the only person on this planet.

When they were shut down due to violations I went to pull some dogs for another organization and saw this pretty face waiting to be saved with a time stamp over her head....of course she came with! Howlena was certainly a hunting dog prior and enjoys scents and has the urge to track scents. She would do best in a home that can take her for adventures, nose work so she can feel satisfied with "hunting", and a comfy bed to finish off her days. She is the QUEEN of zoomies, very fast and its so fun to watch her have fun. She has her "go" but also her "whoa" where she is ready to snuggle ON you on the coach. She is not vocal and very loyal, loving, and sweet

NEEDS EXPERIENCED ADOPTER DUE TO BEING TIMID Name: Ukulele Age: approx 6 years Weight: 55 Color: red/white Breed: Walker hound Vaccines: up to date Altered: yes Heartworm Status: negative Energy Level: average House trained: Yes Crate trained: yes Dog friendly: yes/must be adopted to a home with atleast 1 dog Cat friendly: yes Kid friendly: yes but very scared Temperament: very fearful, goofy, playful whe he warms up Adoption fee: 275 Notes: We pulled Ukulele from our local shelter as he was struggling in the shelter environment. He is EXTREMELY fearful/flighty. Extremely athletic and has scaled walls at the shelter easily. He will require a very patient person with a quiet home and multiple friendly dogs to get his confidence boosted. Once settled he will pick his person and can be "normal" he does have the ability to bond and trust. He does silly things like take random items into his crate and "hoard" them. He does not destroy the items just takes them in his crate to collect. He has a great personality! Story
Jasper had a really rough start to life. He was surrendered to us after owner was crating him for 23 hours a day...they spoke so terribly of him and all the behaviors they said he had, we're definitely a direct result in how he was being treated as he has not shown any bad or undesirable behaviors. Jasper is very smart and listens to several commands the first time they are said "go lay down, sit, stay" all he wants to do is please his human and be loved. TOTAL cuddle bug. Story
We adopted Penny in September from the peninsula regional shelter, she’s about 5 months old I believe. She is the sweetest, playful, lovey girl. Unfortunately, our two adult dogs have shown a lot of aggression towards her despite time and training. We feel Penny’s happiness and safety needs to come first by having a new family. We have a 3 and 4 year old who she gets alone well with

DUDE IS IN FOSTER.PLEASE EMAIL contact@animalaidsociety.org TO SCHEDULE A MEETING!Every once in awhile, a dog comes to us and they tug at our heartstrings more than usual. Whether it's their background, their condition or their fortitude. Such is the case with Dude - it's his fortitude that we all admire.Dude does not have normal front feet, which also makes his front legs a bit distorted and shorter than his back legs. Likely having this since birth, he has had to adjust his gait and movement. He will have xrays to see if they can make sense of what is going on.He is now on pain meds and joint supplements and we already see him feeling more relaxed. He also now has rugs in his run so that it's easier for him to walk around. When he sees you coming to sit next to him, he rolls on his back and puts his legs in the air! What appears awkward and perhaps painful to us, is just normal for Dude! He gets what he needs and seems to take pleasure in the small things. He adores when people take an extra minute to hang out with him. Dude loves belly rubs and sitting in the sun.Dude is just three-years-old and otherwise very healthy! He will never be one for long walks but he will always be one for snuggles and love!Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
We could see Parker’s ribs. All of them. Clearly. Despite getting three big meals a day, plus treats, Parker was losing weight. He spent his days at the shelter running in frantic circles, then pacing when he was too tired to run. At night, he barked at every sound, every shadow, as if the world itself was closing in.So we tried an experiment: a kind volunteer offered to foster Parker. And just like that, the story changed. In a quiet home with routine and calm, Parker exhaled. His ribs disappeared beneath healthy weight. His pacing slowed to a steady trot at your side. His bark softened from panic to commentary - a running narration of life as your shadow.Parker is three years old, housetrained, crate trained, and so smart you’ll catch him studying you like he’s preparing for an exam. He’s polite, sensitive, and endlessly loyal - the sort of dog who wants to get it right for you, every time.He isn’t built for chaos. Shelter life proved that. But in a steady, loving home, Parker is a revelation: funny, affectionate, devoted. Originally surrendered when his owner’s medical condition made it impossible for her to keep him, Parker is now waiting for the person who sees his sensitivity not as a flaw but as the very thing that makes him extraordinary. If you’re looking for a sidekick who will keep you company through every room, every mood, and every moment, Parker is waiting.***PARKER IS IN FOSTER.
