The sweetest little gentleman, that’s Ivan! Meet Ivan, a handsome 2-year-old Foxhound mix who is delighted to make your acquaintance. Ivan was rescued from Colleton County, South Carolina, and at 45 pounds, he is fully grown. Ivan is a total sweetheart who is still learning to embrace his new life. He’s a bit shy at first but is adjusting to his new found safety and security in the loving care of his foster home. Ivan absolutely loves other dogs and his playful and goofy personality quickly shines when with other dogs. For this reason, he would do best with a canine sibling in his forever home. He’d love a home with a big fenced in yard where he can get out his zoomies and stretch his legs! Ivan would do well in a home with other dogs, cats, and kids. He's a playful guy that loves to play with toys and go for walks. He loves to cuddle and be showered with affection, and his goofy personality is sure to make you smile. Come meet Ivan today—we’ll tell him you’re on the way! Ivan is neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped. **Please note: completing an "adoption inquiry" via Adopt-a-pet/Petfinder does not constitute an HFG Dog Rescue adoption application. Story
Mason sure hopes he will be home for the holidays—maybe he could come home with you? Meet Mason, the precious Foxhound mix who is ready to embrace true happiness in life. Mason is 5 years old and weighs 52 pounds. He was rescued from Barnwell, South Carolina, but he’s ready to spend the rest of forever wherever you are! Mason is a very friendly and outgoing guy who adores being around others. His motto is “age is just a number,” because this sweet boy still loves to play and run. He’d adore a backyard where he can get the zoomies and maybe have some friends over for playtime. He’d love daily walks around the neighborhood where he can chat with neighbors and expend his energy. Mason would be amazing with other pets and kids. He’d love to walk his human siblings to the bus stop or maybe ride along for school pickup. Mason is ready to join a loving family who will cherish him and give him all the love and happiness he deserves! He hopes that’s you, and you come meet him soon! Mason is neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped. Given the conditions Mason originated from, upon rescue, he tested positive for Heartworm disease. Thanks to Home for Good Dog Rescue, Mason has completed his Heartworm treatment. *Heartworm disease is a serious and if left untreated, fatal disease. It is caused by foot-long worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels of affected animals, causing severe lung disease, heart failure, and damage to other organs in the body. Mosquitoes are carriers of heartworms and have the ability to infect dogs all year round, especially in the Southeastern portion of the United States and during the summer months.* **Please note: completing an "adoption inquiry" via Adopt-a-pet/Petfinder does not constitute an HFG Dog Rescue adoption application. I ain't nothin' but a hound dog and you can find me howlin' all the time hoping for my forever home! I'm an outdoor enthusiast with a nose for adventure. If you're someone who loves to soak up the sun and breathe in the fresh air, then I'm your paw-fect companion for outdoor escapades. While I may enjoy the occasional afternoon nap under the shade of a tree, nothing gets my tail wagging quite like the promise of a nose-down walk, where I can immerse myself in the intricate world of scent work. I may seem a tad aloof at first, but offer me a tasty treat, and watch as our bond blossoms like a flower in spring. With a repertoire of tricks like sit, paw, and down, I'm trained and ready to go!Post Adoption Training Scholarship (PATS)At SAVE, we understand that the current economy presents challenges, and this impacts dog adoption rates. To ease the financial burden on adopters and help our adoptable dogs find their forever homes, we are excited to introduce the Post Adoption Training Scholarship (PATS) program. This initiative funds the first five training sessions with a qualified trainer for select medium and large breed dogs, identified in their adoption bios. For more information, please call the shelter director (Jack Griffin) and ask about the PATS program.Complete the online adoption application on our website. The shelter is open by appointment for approved adopters. We have appointments available daily except Mondays. We look forward to helping you find your furry best friend! Story
***Special needs. She was hit by a car and had several hip surgeries. She needs joint supplements and may eventually need some support for her back and in the form of a wheelchair support vehicle!*** Meet Jenny! Jenny is a 2-3-year-old foxhound, whippet, pointer and jack Russell terrier mix!! She was hit with a hit by a car within the first year of her life. She was turned over to a shelter in South Carolina who contacted us because we are well-known to help with special mobility needs dogs. Of course, we said yes. Jenny has endured two hip surgeries, on the same side of her hip for both of them. The first surgery was a female femoral head osteotomy commonly known as an FHO. The surgeon removed the head of her femur and made a pocket in the hit muscle as a replacement. She also removed many bone fragments as well. It took Jenny nearly a year to recover from the first surgery and then it was determined she needed another! The second surgery seem to do the trick and removed a lot of scar tissue and extra bone growth that had become painful for her. Jenny is a happy-go-lucky girl. She’s always on the lookout for bunnies and squirrels, that’s the hound in her! She loves to play with other dogs, but big dogs that are rough can be a little much for her although she can hold her own! She does well playing on grass but a lot of walking on concrete will need some special care to make sure that her back legs don’t drag. She uses both our back legs very well, but will always have some mobility issues. She often tends to walk sideways when she gets tired! Jenny has gotten along well with all her other foster dog siblings. Jenny hasn’t met a stranger and also has been great with the children she’s met. As well as the cat in her foster home. Jenny is very well crate trained and housetrained although her accident has left her with urgency when she needs to go outside to potty. And Jenny walks well on a leash and loves to walk the neighbourhood looking for anything that moves! We feel that Jenny is ready for her forever home after over a year in her rescue foster homes. Interested in becoming a forever home for Jenny? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws. We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Jenny. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Jenny the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us. For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Transport, if needed, is $160. We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip.
