Story
Bella is a sweet soul. She is cuddly, sleeps all day, loves treats after her walks, and she loves the cold and going on long walks. Her previous owner could no longer care for her or her brother and went into hospice care shortly before she was given up. Her brother was adopted 2 weeks before we recieved her. The family who did end up adopting her found that they could not care for two dogs at once and she was a burden they could not handle, and entrusted her with us to find her a better home. Due to my soon-to-be completed pregnancy, I cannot permanently keep her. As much as we love her and want the best for her, we cannot as a family provide that environment. She's great with everyone and loves to play, and she's a huge fan of wet food and soft chew dog bones. She's also not very talkative but will whine to let us know she needs to go outside, like a well trained good girl ♡

I can be a bit shy at first, but once I get to know you, I'll be your best friend. I'm known to be quite friendly and I get along well with dogs, kids, and cats alike. I am a medium energy guy, so I enjoy a good balance of playtime and relaxation. Plus I'm house trained, which is a bonus! I especially like rural living, it's peaceful and there's plenty of space for me to explore. While my needs are being met now, I still dream of having a family to call my own. If you're looking for a sweet, friendly, and curious companion, I could be the perfect fit for you! Why don’t you fill out an application today and let’s have a meet and greet. I can't wait to find my forever family!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. I am now on the hunt to find my forever home. I'm your typical young pup, very sweet and playful. I am housebroken. I can be a little shy at first, but I warm up very quickly. I love other dogs too. I would be a good dog for most any family. At my young age, I'm in my prime for training and socialization. I will grow to be an amazing best friend for many years to come. So, what is there not to love? Fill out an application today, I am waiting for you!  Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Female, 2 yrs old, 42lbs (underweight) Personality: adaptable, affectionate, easygoing, good running partner, adventurous, goofy/funny, mischievous, playful, energetic, snuggler, rambunctious, and smart. Mabel makes it impossible not to have a smile on your face when you're together. She'll greet you every morning with tail wags and kisses, and her favorite thing is a rousing game of tug or chase, followed by a snuggle in the nearest available lap. Next on Mabel's list of fun activities is taking long nose-to-the-ground walks, and she's wonderful in the car if you want to take her on an adventure farther from home (she makes a fantastic hiking partner and she won't even complain about a bath after!). Mabel's foster says she is great at picking up cues from other animals - she respects boundaries set by dogs and cats alike, and even knows how to mimic the preferred play style of the resident dog in her foster home. A very food-motivated girl, Mabel has already learned words like "sit, "lay down, "potty, and "come." She seems to have figured out housetraining and is adjusting well to her crate. Does Marvelous Miss Mabel sound like the perfect fit for you? Apply today to meet her! Follow @aellis07 for more of Mabel's adventures. _________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a DOG: http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-dogs.html Interested in saving more lives? Foster a dog today! Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
