Story
Adoption fee waived!! Well, here Clayton is back at the kennel once again. It seems as he's comfortable here, as he starts act differently in a home. Clayton would do best in a home where he can have a fenced in yard. He will chase after anything that moves, that's just the Hound in him. He is great hunting for deer sheds, in fact likes them so much, he will try and remove them from your walls! He can not be around when you are cooking or eating anything! This is due to the way he was treated in his past and never knowing when or if he would get his next meal.We recommend him being crated and he is good with that. He can become obsessive over things, couches, beds, people. We are looking for someone who understands this behavior and realize that with time he will settle down. He desperately needs home.

Story
Tommy Boy is a 3-year-old (birthday 05/11/2021) male American Foxhound. He is neutered and up to date on shots. Tommy Boy is currently boarded at a training facility for training. His trainers reported that he is a fun loving pup! He loves to socialize and greet the other dogs (and humans) that come and go every day. Tommy Boy is currently being fostered in a crate free home environment surrounded by people and dogs of all different shapes and sizes, and he gets along well with everyone. Tommy is a “true-hound,” and domesticating his natural instincts out of him will be a long road that an experienced handler will have to patiently walk with him. As a hound, Tommy’s instincts are naturally incredibly strong to move away from a handler and work quarry upland and into the woods. Fox hounds are meant to bay down other predacious species and “protect” themselves if they feel threatened or desirous. Furthermore; his function is much more aligned to independence and self-actualization than it is to being a cuddly companion pup. Tommy is trying his best to be just that. Tommy will need clear expectations from his furever family. This means keeping your word will be paramount. If you tell him something, you have to follow through every time. If you give Tommy a command, no matter what’s happening, you must make sure to hold him accountable to following through on the command and offer whatever level of support he needs in that moment. Most often, this means patience and understanding. Breaking trust will set back your relationship with him without question. He needs to know that you are firm but fair, and that you can be silly and playful but have hard rules. You’re his friend but his parent first. Tommy is currently working through the return command from off-leash. PLEASE NOTE: We review veterinary care for applicants. This includes regular well visits, core vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm, tickborne tests, regular monthly heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention. Please contact your veterinarian’s office to give them permission to speak to us. Applications are available at www.puppypawsrescue.org If your application meets our adoption criteria, we will contact you within 1 week. At that time, you will be contacted (usually by email) to schedule a phone interview and a virtual home visit (Facetime, Skype, etc). Due to the volume of applications, applications that do not move forward to an interview may not receive a reply within that time frame.

Story
Casper is a lovable 2-2 1/2-year old, foxhound/lab mix. He is neutered and weighs 75lbs. Casper is fostered in Millington, MD. Casper is full of personality, always managing to make everyone laugh with his antics. He likes trying to jump on the trampoline with the kids! He’s a very goofy boy. Casper likes to play fetch and birdwatch. His favorite spot is behind the couch, where he can lay and look out the window. He loves water in the summer time and his pool. Casper has always been quite chill, just very calm and gentle. But sometimes he doesn’t realize his size and will plop down on you like a lap dog. He enjoys relaxing in his bed or being outside sunbathing. Casper is crate and house-trained (though he occasionally has accidents overnight). He knows several commands and is a very quick learner. He has a bad habit of counter surfing and opening/getting into the trash can, so he needs to be trained out of it. Casper does well with children of all ages and other dogs he has been around. He is good with new people, as he does not jump; but he may push his goofy self against you for love. He hasn’t been around cats. Casper is affectionate, playful, and full of personality. He will make a fantastic companion for the right family. PLEASE NOTE: We review veterinary care for applicants. This includes regular well visits, core vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm, tickborne tests, regular monthly heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention. Story
Major's been doing great in his foster home! He knows to potty outside and hasn’t had any accidents in the house, just some intentional marking which will dissipate after his neuter. Major is VERY playful. He loves to play with the 10 month old chihuahua puppy in the house. His foster mom has even taken him to the park with her friend's Bernese Mountain dogs and he got along great with them too. There have been no issues with the cats. He is a chewer but if you trade him a toy he is content gnawing on that. He’s a sweet boy and likes attention, but also entertains himself laying on the couch or playing with toys. Major is a sweet, affectionate, friendly, silly hound. If you're looking for a happy, joyful boy, Major may just be your perfect jam.

Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Granby is a handsome 8-year-old Foxhound/Beagle mix. He has had a lot of change in his life and is seeking new accommodations. First, his human died and then his best buddy who was a cat died. He finds himself a little out of sorts with folks who are keeping him safe but not dog people. He is house trained and walks well on leash. He is tentative about strangers coming to the house and needs to work on proper introductions or put in another room or crate if guests are over. Granby has 5 personal trainer sessions with a trainer who knows him that will transfer to his adopter (Falls Church, VA area, willing to travel in DMV area). His ideal home is a quiet one without children and lots of people coming and going. We are seeking an adopter who has Fox Hound or dog experience who knows how to show leadership to a pup. He weighs 70 pounds and is full grown. Adoption fee is waived, but approval process is not. Meet and greets are by appointment only with approved applicants. If you are interested in fostering to adopt, please fill out the online application: https://www.lastchanceanimalrescue.org/adoption-request-form/ If you have been approved within the past 6 months and are interested in Granby, please reply to your approval email.
