Story
Dottie had a wonderful Dog's Day Out, and she impressed her human companions so much that they decided to foster her! Meet Dottie, a sweet female American Foxhound mix weighing about 33 pounds, who came to the shelter as a stray on September 23, 2024. While her exact age is a bit of a mystery, she seems to be a young and playful spirit, without being overly energetic. Her hound nose loves to explore and sniff around, and she enjoys soaking up the sun.Dottie is a hug-giver and a cuddler who loves to snuggle up next to you for some pets, offering the sweetest kisses in return. She was very friendly with everyone she met at the local pet supply store and got along well with other dogs in her foster home. She's also great around kids, making her an ideal family pet. Dottie thrives on human affection and would make a loyal companion. She would benefit from someone to help her learn basic commands, but she shows great potential to pick things up quickly. Dottie is just waiting for the right person to see how perfect she is! Her adoption fee has been covered, so you can adopt her at no cost. Plus, she comes spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated!

Story
Barney is an affectionate, sweet boy. Probably not a year old and loves to play. He has that wonderful hound voice but he's not obsessive with it. He does well with other dogs, he's not familiar with cats but plays to hard with chickens. He's very smart and has learned a few basic commands. He would be a loyal companion for a little love. For more information on Barney and our adoption process please enclose your phone number with your inquiry or call Jacki at 941-587-4612.  November 2, 2024, 2:03 pm

Story
Walker!     DOB:1/2019      Weight: 60lbs    Walker, the Treeing Walker Coonhound is all ready to go to his new home! True to his breed, this handsome man always has his nose to the ground or is looking around and checking things out. Oftentimes he’ll point towards things and start baying like crazy. He WILL follow his nose if you let him and he loves a good chase. Walker needs a fairly active family that can get him physical exercise through the weeks. He’s very sweet, food motivated. Knows how to sit and takes treats nicely. No aggression issues. He is partly house trained but needs to get on a schedule and go out often at first. Rides well in the car. He’s wonderful with people, but prefers to live as a solo pet.  His adoption fee is $175. That helps us to cover worming, vaccines, spay/neuter, heart worm test, and microchip. We offer a 2-3 week trial. If for some reason it does not work out, you’ll be refunded $100 of your fee. If interested in adopting him please fill out an application on our NEW website. https://www.newliferescues.org . If you have issues, send us a message through our Facebook. Story
Derby!    DOB: 5/2014    Weight: 50lbs   Oh Derby! I LOVE this little man! His owner recently had to move due to unfortunate circumstances and it left Derby homeless. Derby is a senior man who still has a lot of life left in him and is ready to find a person he can spend it with! He’s house trained. Good with dogs of all sizes and previously lived with a small dog. Ok with cats too! Derby enjoys eating food, going for walks, and being given loads of attention from his people. Owner said he has been ok around kids but keep in mind that he’s a big, stocky boy who can easily knock little kids over when excited. He did wonderful for his annual shots! Derby enjoys having his butt scratched, but he REALLY likes it when you sit there and smack his butt. His bark is also not much of a bark at times either. He got some yard time at one of our recent dog walks and had people thinking there was a dog fight going down. No, he was just screaming and complaining because he wasn’t getting the attention he thought he deserved. Derby will make an awesome dog for someone! Already becoming a shelter favorite.  His adoption fee is $100. That helps us to cover worming, vaccines, spay/neuter, heart worm test, and microchip. We offer a 2-3 week trial. If for some reason it does not work out, you’ll be refunded $50 of your fee. If interested in adopting him please fill out an application on our NEW website. https://www.newliferescues.org .
