Story
Agatha was saved from a local shelter where she likely wouldn’t have survived. Seniors are usually at risk. This sweet girl old deserves the very best life and has so much love to give. She is a fluffy girl who loves snuggles, pets, and people who have time for her. She would do best in a semi-quiet home without a lot of stairs. Agatha is fostered by a family with a toddler and does well with him as well as their dogs and cat. A nice, easy-going home would make her so happy. She will be treated for heartworm in late January but can be adopted now. Homeward Bound will provide this medical care for her. She is spayed, vaccinated, & microchipped. If you have lots of love to give and want lots of love in return, Agatha is the one for you. Agatha is 12 years old and 50 lbs. on 1/9/2025. $250 Adoption fee.

Story
ADOPTION FEE WAIVED! ALSO AVAILABLE TO FOSTER. No doubt you’ve seen those stories about dogs waiting 200, 300 or even 500 days before being adopted. Gilley (short for Gillian) has been at Save the Strays for more than 1,825 days – an incredibly long time to wait for that special someone to come and take her home. Why is she still here?   At 7 years young, Gilley still has a lot of stamina. She’s just crazy for toys and can destroy most of them within 5 minutes. But she has slowed down a bit over the past year and is quite happy to just hang out, get a belly rub and take a nap. She’s really quite sweet and very loyal.    Because Gilley has been here so long, she may need a little time to adjust to a new home and owner. She’s lived in a rural environment with few visitors, so she should be introduced to new sights, sounds and people in small doses. Gilley’s also initially a little uncertain around other dogs, especially if they’re also nervous or too forward. She might do best in a quieter home where she’s the only dog or in a home with only one other laid-back dog of similar size because she will play with other dogs once she’s comfortable with them.     At Save the Strays, we consider the first two weeks (longer, if needed) following adoption to be a trial period and will take Gilley back if the adoption doesn’t work out. We are also waiving Gilley’s adoption fee because we really, really, really want to see her get the home she deserves.    Not quite ready to give a dog a forever home? Gilley is also available to foster if you live within 75 miles of our location. If you have questions or want to apply to adopt or foster Gilley, email us at info@savethestrays.org.        Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 25, 2024, 3:29 pm
