Story
Kriss Kross is a remarkable lab rescue mix who found his way to Friends of Dogs in July 2023. When he was found as a stray, he was in dire need of care. He had a thin scar around his neck from being tied up, a sore back ankle, and infected ears. Additionally, his eyes are slightly crossed, possibly due to past trauma. Friends of Dogs rescued Kriss Kross not out of pity, but because of his sweet and happy disposition. He has a kind heart, and it was clear to the rescuers that he deserved a chance at a good life. His foster mom took Kriss Kross to the vet for a thorough assessment. He is approximately three years old, weighs 43 pounds, and is heartworm negative. The vet suspects that Kriss Kross may have experienced head trauma, affecting his brain and causing his eyes to cross. His sore ankle is likely the result of a previous injury, which may have caused it to grow incorrectly. Despite this, he doesn't appear to be in pain and has a distinctive, endearing hop when he walks. Kriss Kross has been thriving in a safe and nurturing environment, something he has never experienced before. He has been neutered and is now ready for the next step in his journey. Kriss Kross needs a special home where he can continue to receive the love and care he deserves. Kriss Kross's greatest joy is to be with people. He longs for human connection and eagerly soaks up pets and cuddles. While he is friendly and polite with other dogs, he always prefers to be close to his people. Due to his past trauma, he can be a little anxious and needy, but he has so much love to offer in return. Story
Peanut is available for adoption in Texas only. Meet Peanut, a sweet 1-year-old lab mix weighing in at 45 pounds. Affectionately nicknamed Peanut Butter, this gentle girl may be shy at first, but with a little patience and time, she blossoms into a silly, playful companion who will melt your heart. Peanut is a pro at being house-trained and crate-trained. In fact, she adores her crate and considers it her safe haven. When we leave the house, she happily retreats to her crate and even prefers to spend her time there when we are home, with the door open for her to come and go as she pleases. Though we don't have young children in our home, we believe Peanut would do well with kids, though she might be a bit timid around them initially. Our teenagers get along great with her, and she has shown herself to be wonderful with other dogs, both big and small. We don't have any cats, so we're not sure how she would do with feline friends. Peanut's ideal home would be a calm, low-energy environment with a patient person or family who understands that she needs time to adjust. Once she feels comfortable, she reveals her true character-a playful, laid-back dog who loves to gather and keep soft, squishy toys in her crate. These toys seem to provide her with a sense of comfort and security, likely because she had to fend for herself on the streets before finding her way to us. Though Peanut doesn't bark much and prefers napping, she occasionally surprises us with a burst of energy and adorable zoomies, which never fail to bring a smile to our faces. She also does well on a leash and enjoys leisurely walks. If you are looking for a loyal companion who is low-maintenance and enjoys a peaceful environment, Peanut is the perfect match. Her gentle spirit and loving nature make her the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. Come meet Peanut and see how she can bring joy and tranquility to your home! Story
Available in TX, PNW, NE (excluding MA & NH) Our handsome Duke is on the lookout for a forever family! This sweet boy is a lab/Hound mix, embodying all the wonderful qualities that labs are known for - he adores water, loves people big and small, and loves nothing more than a good play session! Duke is a playful and affectionate companion who thrives on having a friend to romp around with. Whether it's splashing in puddles, chasing after a ball, or enjoying a game of tug-of-war, Duke is always up for an adventure! It's important to note that Duke does have some resource guarding tendencies when it comes to food and toys. With patience, understanding, and proper training, Duke can learn to overcome these behaviors and become the loyal and loving companion he's meant to be. He is easily trainable as he has made great strides in not counter surfing! His perfect home would have a nice backyard & people at home most of the time. He loves his family & likes to have company! If you're ready to open your heart and home to Duke and provide him with the love, care, and guidance he needs, he's eager to join your family. Come meet this lovable pup today and discover the joy of having Duke by your side! He is being fostered in a home in Seguin, TX. We do not adopt to MA due to quarantine laws.
