Meet Cosmo This adorable guy has the spunk and spirit of a typical pup. His mom was unfortunately run over and he had to have a little help being bottle fed until able to eat on his own. You would not know it by looking at him or in his glowing personality. Cosmo is always up for a romp during playtime. He is also one of the sweetest snugglers. Cosmo has grown to adoption age in the same wonderful household and his foster mom would love to give you all the details on his daily life. Cosmo is well socialized and would do great in a home with or without dogs and/or with or without children. If you are looking for a dedicated family companion, you can’t go wrong with this cutie. Once adopted, Cosmo will transport with Rescue Vet Transport to his new forever family (additional $185). If you would like to give him a life time of belly rubs please follow the link below to our adoption application. Please note, our volunteer team works very hard and they are very responsive so please submit your application only when you are ready to welcome your new furry friend. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
Meet Bart! Bart is a handsome 2-year-old Flat-Coated Retriever mix with a heart as big as his wagging tail. Weighing in at 50 pounds, he's the perfect medium-large size for snuggles, adventures, and everything in between. Bart is full of youthful energy and loves to play, but he’s also got a mellow, affectionate side that makes him a wonderful companion. Whether it’s a game of fetch or a cozy nap by your side, Bart is happiest when he’s with his people.  He’s a sweet boy who doesn’t like city life. He gets along well with other dogs and would thrive in an active home that can keep up with his playful spirit and continue his basic training. With his smart, eager-to-please personality, Bart is ready to learn and bond with a forever family. Ready to bring home your new best friend? Bart can’t wait to meet you!  Already neutered, microchipped and vaccinated all he needs is you.  To adopt Bart apply at www.peace4paws.org/adoption-application on a laptop or computer. If you have specific adoption or foster questions, please email: judy.atchison@yahoo.com THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN RESCUING A DOG! Story
Through no fault of his own, this 2-3-year-old black beauty found himself in a scary place - a high kill shelter in Jefferson Parish, in Louisiana. Being black in coloring, the color least adopted, Cheech's life was in danger. We will never know where this sweet boy spent the first years of his life, but it is apparent that he was once someone’s pet, and was even microchipped, but his owner was not to be found. We can't help but wonder… When Cheech was lost, where was his family, and why was there no one frantically searching for their beloved pal? He is the most loving guy you will ever meet, and the most wonderful thing about Cheech is his heart and spirit. Cheech charms everyone he meets and will sit for a treat, shake hands/paws, and roll over for a belly rub. He has a great temperament and has never met a stranger. He will greet you with a look that seems to say, "Hi, I’m Cheech – SO nice to meet you!" This young fellow has an energy level appropriate for a dog his age and will need an adopter who can provide him with adequate exercise, activities, and companionship. In return, Cheech will give you his unconditional love, 24/7, 365! Cheech has spent time with a trainer in the south who has really helped him become the best boy! Just watch this fine fellow show off some of his skills in his video! Cheech is a very expressive boy who truly grins from ear to ear and has a magnificent smile! He is a talker too, vocalizing with various sounds to express his emotions. It's really rather endearing. :-) Cheech who weighs around 56 lbs, is good with other dogs, would enjoy playing with older children, but has no known history with cats. He has been brought up-to-date on vaccinations, is micro-chipped, neutered, and heartworm negative. Cheech has been given a Proheart-6 injection for 6 months of heartworm prevention. If you have it in your heart to give a gorgeous guy a loving and forever home, please consider Cheech. He will be ready to travel north in mid-January to be adopted. If you would like to be part of Cheech's rescue story and are already approved to adopt through SGRR, please contact Cheryl Kewley to be considered to adopt Cheech. Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to become an important, forever part of their life journey by continuing the rehabilitation we have begun. If not yet approved for adoption, please visit our website to learn more and to submit an online application. Click here to visit our website. Please contact us with any questions regarding your application status. PLEASE APPLY by submitting an application via this online link: Click for Adoption Application About Our Rescue Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters need to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are regularly getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and get approved so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready. The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring the rescue to a vet within 7 business days. The dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided. Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed. Please be a ray of light for this Sunshine dog and make a tax deductible donation toward medical and other expenses. Every cent of your generosity goes directly toward the care of a Sunshine dog.
