Story
Say hello to GusGus! This 1 year-old Black Labrador Retriever is one that will be sure to steal your heart! If you are looking for a dog who believes he is half fish, look no further! Water is GusGus’s favorite thing in life and, as long as he’s got a puddle to play in, he’s not hard to please. This sweet boy has had quite the journey since coming into rescue. GusGus is completing his recovery from an orthopedic surgery on his shoulder to mend a congenital condition that was affecting his growth and mobility. Fret not, this surgery was able to resolve this condition and GusGus is returning to normal activity. Long-term, GusGus will be happy to have regular exercise, but high impact activities such as hunting aren’t ideal. Due to GusGus’s size and activity requirements, it’s ideal that he have access to a fenced yard.Despite this obstacle, GusGus has made great progress in training and has blossomed into a very good boy! He’s full house-trained and knows how to let you know he's gotta go! He’s crate trained and does well at night and when home alone. He’ll bark on occasion if he’s in his crate and knows people are home. He wants to be a part of the action!GusGus does great with other dogs and enjoys their company, whether that includes playing or cuddling on the couch! We aren’t sure how he’d do around cats, but given his gentle nature he’d likely do well with a dog-savvy cat. As far as kids go, he loves to play and snuggle with them but has to be reminded of his size from time to time. This boy has a heart of gold and is ready to meet his forever family!
