Story
JJ is an energetic, 13 year old flat coated retriever. We have taken care of JJ for the last 6 years after fostering/adopting him from an active duty service member who was deployed overseas for an extended period during the pandemic. He is reactive to other dogs but has mellowed some in his old age. We are putting him up for adoption because we do not feel comfortable with him around our 1 year old daughter. He has shown signs of aggression toward her on occasion (growling) so we would not recommend JJ to a family with children. He has lots of energy still for a dog his age. His favorite place is the National Arboretum and also frequents Greenbelt park, the National Mall, and surrounding state/national parks. He also LOVES the snow, ice cream, cold weather, and Oreos. We love him so much. We want him to have the best family surrounding him so if you think you can love him half as much as we do, please reach out.
