Meet the Tea Time Puppies! This adorable litter is as warm and comforting as your favorite cup of tea. Some of us are full of spice and energetic. Others calming and relaxing. We are all mellow and adaptable, robust and full of life. We are ready to help you start your day (and end your day) with cuddles and love. Won't you take one of us home with you today to start our teautiful adventure together? If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2275594##

Story
Minnie’s journey is one that tugs at the heartstrings and showcases the incredible power of love and perseverance. When she arrived at a shelter in Texas in late August, she was one of the worst cases of neglect they had ever seen. It’s heartbreaking to think of how many people passed her by in this bustling metropolitan city, unaware of the suffering she was enduring. Thankfully, someone finally took notice and brought her to us, giving her a chance at a new life. Initially, Minnie was placed on the euthanasia list due to her severe condition. With malnutrition, skin and eye infections, and a fear of the world around her, it seemed like her story might end too soon. But we couldn’t let go of her; she had already captured our hearts. With the support of our dedicated medical team and two incredible foster caregivers, we committed to helping Minnie heal. Minnie faced numerous challenges, including carpal hyperextension due to chronic malnutrition. Our veterinary team advised us to gradually increase her activity level, believing that time, good nutrition, and playtime with other dogs would help her legs strengthen. With patience and love, we watched as Minnie’s transformation began.  Fast forward four months, and we are overjoyed to share that Minnie is now a vibrant, playful puppy! She’s running, playing with her furry friends, and showing us the joy of life that she so deserves. Her coat is growing in beautifully, hinting at her retriever mix heritage, and she’s blossoming into the loving companion we always knew she could be. Now, all Minnie needs is a forever home to complete her incredible story. It’s time for Minnie to leave her past behind and start a bright new chapter filled with love, adventure, and happiness. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this resilient girl, Minnie is waiting to meet you! Let’s give her the forever family she deserves and show her that kindness is the norm in this world. Minnie at the shelter:  https://youtube.com/shorts/d3d-u4y_isc  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-7v5ojfmdg Two weeks later: Very first tail wag: https://youtu.be/TsOnT1-fiAM  First Kong: https://youtube.com/shorts/svU0kLnWJO8  Learning how to accept love: https://youtube.com/shorts/ksf2Omv9XiY  Minnie 2 months later: Legs are progressing: https://youtube.com/shorts/zCBwQ-g8GaM  Check up at RPM on those legs: https://youtube.com/shorts/cpM8RkbSDCc   From Foster: Minnie really looks good and has come out of her shell like she was meant to be here! She’s very content and happy.  Minnie is fully house trained and learns things very quickly.  She absolutely LOVES to go for walks. She gets so excited and jumps around.  Minnie sits for the leash and treats.  She organizes all her stuffed animals and chews around her in the crate too, she loves her new life.  There is a cat that likes to lay in our back yard (not ours).  The cat doesn’t run when Minnie approaches.  Minnie gets close to her and whines and woofs at her to try to get her to move.  When she doesn’t, Minnie loses interest and goes about her business. We think she would do great with cats in a home as well.  Minnie was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2270320##

Story
Gaze into Canelo's soulful eyes, and you'll find your heart stolen! This 1.5-year-old charmer is as sweet as they come—social, easygoing, and oh-so-happy. Canelo loves life’s simple joys: walks, playing with his beloved stuffie toys, chasing tennis balls, and chewing on sturdy rubber toys. Of course, cuddle breaks are always welcome! He enjoys playing with other dogs and greets new people with joyful enthusiasm. Canelo is already working on his leash skills and is nearly fully crate- and house-trained. Motivated by food, love, and toys, he knows commands like “sit,” “down,” and “off,” and he’s eager to learn more—especially if treats are involved! A Special Boy Looking for a Special Family Canelo has chronic bronchitis, which occasionally causes coughing and requires cough medicine to help him sleep at night and antibiotics when he has flare-ups. While his condition means he has some not-so-great days, his resilience and zest for life shine through. Canelo is looking for a loving family who will provide the care and support he needs to enjoy life to the fullest. If you’re ready to open your heart to this special boy, Canelo promises to fill your days with love, joy, and tail wags!   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application received in the order they're submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If your home sounds like a good match for you and the pet, we will connect you with our dogs' foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a "meet and greet" is set up. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to finalize the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $425. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all DAPP boosters after adoption. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for any rabies vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email  dogs@arrcolorado.org  for more information, as we can't accept calls at this time. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
