Sweet sweet Ruckus!! What can we say?? ..where do we begin?  Ruckus is looking for a home where he will be allowed to shine on his own time frame.  With love and patience his true personality will come out and he will be the best dog anyone could ever ask for if just given that chance.  He joined us after his owner died.  He was one of four dogs left behind, no one aware dogs were unattended.  His father died still tied to his chain.  He and his brother broke free.  When help arrived he watched his mother cut off her chain and hauled off on a catch pole then his brother trapped.  He was the last one left and was often seen sleeping on or next to his dad's body.  Gratefully a concerned neighbor reached out and we developed a plan to get him safe.  Unfortunately, his mother was riddled with cancer so was put to rest at the shelter.  His brother had also been taken to the shelter and was not doing well.  We picked his brother up and started the healing process for both.  That reunion was something else.  Ruckus went from scared, withdrawn and aloof to free.  Rambo, who had been tentative about people could not be happier to see Ruckus and their rehab began together.   We believe Ruckus and Rambo had an okay beginning, loved and cared for, maybe not the way we would like but they welcome new people nicely especially if treats or a doggy bone are involved. Ruckus is a teddy bear with the most innocent soulful eyes  Ruckus likes stability, nothing wrong with that!  He chills very nicely and would appreciate a calm home where someone is home a lot, a friend to read a book with or to watch TV.  A backyard to explore under supervision would be ideal.   He's a homebody as new/busy situations make him a bit nervous.  Eventually leashed walks around the block or  where it isn’t too busy could be enjoyable. He doesn’t need to go shopping, or to community/neighborhood events.. Ruckus can probably be talked into a ride in the car to a quiet cabin in the mountains with his favorite person who would give him quick leashed potty breaks… that’s all he would require. Sounds like the perfect easy dog, right?!  Ruckus would really really love to be chosen along with his brother Rambo (please ask about him) but he understands that may not be possible for it would take a very very special family to welcome 2 dogs at once.  However, Rambo is a much more outgoing and adventerous guy so both makes for perfect home and out/about.  WOW!! What a great fairytale that would be!?  Can he come live with and love you??  Please pick Ruckus!! Flight Risk: do not leave unattended in a yard, crated when when you are gone, tight grip on the leash is a must on adventures. Gentle and easy-going! Grrrrr!! I’m Bear, and I’m a 10-year-old, 98-pound Labrador Retriever Mix looking for my furever home! I came to TAP after being abandoned by my past owners, sadly due to my older age.  I’m a gentle and easy-going boy who is already potty-trained, leash-trained, and neutered.  All you have to say is “potty time” or “let’s go” while on a leash, and I know exactly what to do.  My health is in pretty good shape, but I will need to be evaluated once I have an established vet.  Being the seasoned guy I am, I have slight vision impairment related to normal aging, and I use eye ointment for extra support.  This condition will not lead to blindness, but I may need eye repair surgery in the future.  I also take Cytopoint injections to help with my allergies.  I’m a gentle and introverted pup, who loves my humans.  I’m very smart and pick up easily on the schedule you set for me.  I can be energetic when you come home or when it’s time to go for a walk, but other than that, I’m pretty mellow and love my naps.  My favorite things (besides taking naps) are taking walks, chewing on thick teething bones, and occasionally, playing with balls.  While I don’t mind being around other doggies, I like having my alone time and need slow introductions so that I have time to warm up.  I am very gentle around kids of all ages, and I enjoy receiving love from them.  However, no climbing on me, please, and no sudden movements around me since I can’t see as well as I used to.  Due to my mellow nature, I’d like to be in a mellow home, as well.  However, I’ve done just fine in a busy household with my foster family, living with multiple doggies and constant foot traffic of family and friends who come visit.  I enjoy being in the mix, as well as having a safe area to retreat to when I want some alone time. Making it right for Left Eye!  Hello there! My name is Left Eye, and I'm a 2-year-old, neutered male Labrador mix, looking for my forever home. I weigh about 53 lbs. Since my rescue, I have been at my lovely foster home and learnt amazing manners. I am fully bathroom, crate and leash trained. Talk about a lovable smartie pants! I'm friendly, lovable, and have a lot of energy to share with my new family. I get along great with one of my fellow foster dog siblings, one more than the other. I need very slow introductions to other dogs and am working on my dog and leash reactivity. I will be starting my muzzle training to continue ot be the best boy! I will need a strong leader dedicated to maintaining my structure around new dogs and when meeting them. Cats intrigue me, and though I might bark at them from a distance when I'm in my crate, I'm quite curious and approach them with gentle sniffs when we meet face to face. I haven't met kids yet! I must admit, I can be a bit mouthy like a pupper, but I'm learning the ropes of good behavior. All I really want is love, affection, and a warm place to call home. I'm getting better at asking for attention the right way, and I'm eager to please. If you already have a dog or a cat at home, I'd be a fantastic companion for them after a slow, intentional period of introduction and acclimation to set us all up fpr success. I love going for walks and runs, so we can have loads of fun together outdoors. I'm also content to be an only pet. Whether it's just you and me or a home with other furry friends, I'm confident I'll fit right in. I promise to be loyal and loving, bringing joy and happiness to your life.
