Story
Meet Koi, a beautiful black & white spaniel mix with a long fluffy tail, who is waiting for her very own home. She was found as a stray with another dog, who was claimed to have been her son. She is believed to be around 3 years old, but could be slightly younger. She is house trained and crate trained and rides great in the car.  She also walks nicely on leash.  Koi is timid of new people, but warms up fairly quickly, especially when there is a treat involved. She is also cautious with new dogs, but has done well with all she has met. Her meet & greets should be supervised, until she is comfortable. She seeks more human attention, but seems more comfortable with females than males. She is energetic and will jump up on people. She does know sit,  stay and is easily trainable.  She is VERY treat motivated.  Koi needs an experienced dog owner, who can continue her training. She needs to be allowed to approach new people at her comfort level, and encourage her to gain confidence. We are unsure what happened to her before coming into rescue, but she does lack some trust.  She comes around quickly, though, so with the right owner, who allows her to do so, she will flourish.   Koi loves belly rubs, and would love to be your companion.  She'll follow her human around and lay quietly beside them. So, while she is energetic, she also is content to chill with her human. Koi doesn't seem to have a tremendous prey drive, and is content is just lay in the yard or inside on the couch.  She will certainly bark at strangers, so she would be a good guard dog. Cats are unknown. She did seem interested when she saw one, and if given the chance would probably chase. She has done fine with older, considerate kids, but again is cautious and timid at first.  Koi has recently finished heartworm treatment, is spayed, and up to date on vaccinations. She is located in SC and available to be transported up to 1400 miles, with the adopter driving the last 100 or so miles.  Her adoption fee is $325. Please consider opening your heart and home to this sweet girl  You can submit an adoption application to www.nbran.org and mention her name.
