Story
Meet Cora! Cora is a young Rottweiler mix that was heavily pregnant when she arrived at No Dogs Left Behind. She had six adorable puppies that are now finding families of their own.  Raising puppies is a lot of work so momma Cora is enjoying her new-found freedom and ready to find her people!  Cora is a high-energy dog that loves to be around her humans. When she gets excited, Cora still has a tendency to jump initially but has learned that lying down makes her foster parents happy. When she is calm, Cora enjoys laying next to (or on) her human. She is affectionate and likes to be pet and brushed. Cora loves playing tug or chasing after the ball with the resident dog. She walks well on the leash but does get excited and pulls if she passes another dog. Cora has started visiting outdoor patios and likes to supervise the nearby people and dogs.  Cora enjoys running around in her fenced yard and would love a home that has the time to meet her exercise needs. Outside, Cora thinks she is a guard dog. She no longer reacts to passing people or bikes but still barks at passing dogs.  Cora is interested in birds and squirrels and has fun chasing them out of the yard, protecting her foster family’s garden. Given her prey drive, we expect that Cora would chase cats and would likely not be a good fit for a home with other small animals.   Cora sleeps in the kennel at night and when her foster family is at work. She happily runs into the kennel for meals or a tasty treat. In the kennel, she is quiet and can often be seen lying on her back with her feet sticking straight up in the air. Cora loves to have a durable chew toy in the kennel.  Cora has had no accidents in her foster home and goes outside on a schedule. She is able to sleep through the night without issue. Foster dad lets her outside over lunch to potty and burn off a little energy. Then she returns to the kennel to nap or chew on a bone.  Cora is very smart and has picked up on training quickly. This girl loves to work and would be a good fit for someone that wants to get into canine sports!   Cora is working hard on her impulse control and would benefit from continued training. We think a family without a young kid would be best given her size and jumping for attention. Cora has done well with other dogs and wouldn’t mind a playful canine companion but wouldn’t complain about getting all the attention as an only-dog either. This young momma deserves a loving home to call her own and is excited to meet you!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 5:33 pm

Story
Age: Approximately11 months old Weight: 30 pounds Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Older, considerate kids only Potty trained: Working on it Crate trained: Working on it ** No shared walls ** Kingston has come a long way with the help of his foster brothers. He is a 1 year old cocker spaniel who will probably grow up to be around 30-35 pounds.. He is a typical happy cocker spaniel and wants nothing more than to hang out with you or other dogs. If someone else is being pet, you can bet he's right there looking for a pet as well. He struggles a bit with "stranger danger" but once he has a bit of time to approach on his own terms, he typically warms up to everyone. He is a pretty vocal boy at sounds and sights, so you shouldn't have shared walls as his primary home. He still struggles with being in a kennel, but he's slowly getting better at it (with the help of being next to his foster brother's kennels and a kong with frozen treats inside to sweeten the deal.) He is working on his potty training. He is really great about going outside and doing his business (once he gets over the excitement of all the things in the yard), but he's not so good at telling anyone when he needs to go out. Kingston is a smart boy and learning new things is great for his mind. He knows "sit: and is working on "down". He really wants to jump up to greet you, but we're working on "off" to stop that behavior. He is still working with puppy teeth so he chews on things. There is evidence that he must have gotten in trouble in his earlier life because he sometimes cowers if you raise your voice. Kingston has met a couple of cats and they are really scary - but he also is curious about them. Right now, he keeps his distance and barks at them, but he would most likely do well with a confident resident cat with patience (from both the cat and the humans). He likes kids but he doesn't understand that their toys aren't his toys. He gets along great with other dogs. His older foster brother and he play a lot and he will stop when the resident dog is done playing and says he's done. He has had a few moments of possessiveness over things and food, but as he's gotten comfortable at his foster home he's getting less worried about those things. We've started working on grooming and he's starting to get the hang of it, but he doesn't want to sit still for very long yet. Cocker Spaniels do require regular haircuts and grooming to keep their hair manageable. Adoption Fee: $695
