Mrrreow! My name is Chex Mix and I'm looking for a most wonderful new home! I'm a sweet girl who enjoys perching on shelves and cat trees and checking out my surroundings. But, surprise! If a person sits down in my cat room I hop right on down and climb in their lap! I'm a poised young lady looking for a home to adore me. Come on in and meet me today!Medical History: Chex Mix was rescued from a large-group housing environment. Before their arrival to DCHS, these cats likely had never had any routine or preventative vet care, so it's important to keep up with routine wellness visits after adoption. I appear to be a healthy adult otherwise, but it's always a good idea to set up an appointment with your vet soon after adoption so we can meet each other!Weight: 5 lbsAdoption Fee: $75***I'm currently staying at the DCHS Thrift Store at 6904 Watts Rd in Madison, so if you'd like to meet me you can stop by that location anytime during their open hours!***

Story
Logan is a very friendly and outgoing guy who seeks attention from his foster family. He comes running when called, just waiting to be petted or played with. He has a lot of energy and will do best in a home with room for him to run and play. Offering Logan toys and engaging him will help focus that energy in positive ways. Although Logan loves to play, his first love is being near his foster family, so having a family member close by to engage him often would be best for him. After he is done playing, Logan loves to snuggle and sleep or rest near his family. He will be a wonderful companion and will brighten up your day! Logan is FIV+, but doing very well with no concerns at this time. He will require regular vet check-ups and possible future teeth cleanings. He enjoys both dry and wet food, so offering both will help him continue to thrive. This cat attends adoption events at our Verona Adoption Center.READY TO ADOPT? Story
Ivy is medium-size black female with a sweet temperament. We estimate her age at 6 or 7 years. She was rescued with her last litter of kittens. They've all been adopted, and Ivy is spayed and ready for her forever home. During her time at her foster home, she has adapted well to the house cat life. Ivy is a very smart cat who pays a lot of attention to her people. She talks a lot and sings and follows her people around the house. Her favorite things are playing with her toys, sleeping cuddled with our male cat, and watching TV from her foster person's lap. She has become comfortable in her foster home and hangs out with our three cats. However, as a former stray, Ivy remains sensitive to her surroundings, and she can be quick to hide if she feels pressured. Ivy would do best in a quiet home with people who have some cat experience and another cat to be her friend and guide. Because Ivy does much better in quiet, peaceful settings, approved applicants can meet Ivy, at her foster's home.READY TO ADOPT? It could be because they are a bonded pair, are a little bit shy, or have FIV. Maybe they had a medical concern that took us a while to work through. Sometimes, though, we have no idea what is taking so long! These kitties all deserve love. Don't let them be forgotten! Ivy's fee is WAIVED.

Story
Taffy Apple will greet you at the door and purr like a motorboat when you give her attention. She's also very vocal. She's not a lap cat, but will show her affection by rubbing against your legs. Taffy Apple would do best in a quiet house without children. However, she's very much a cat's cat and would love another cat or two for company; other furry friends will help bring out her personality! Although she's shy and takes awhile to warm up to new people, she's ultimately a rewarding cat to love. Taffy Apple is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested FelV/FIV negative, and has had a dental.

Story
Shiloh is a very friendly, talkative, playful, and affectionate cat who loves to cuddle and be pet, especially under his chin and the sides of his face. He has a laid-back personality and quickly warms up to people who give him attention. He's an absolute love bug and getting him to purr is very easy. He's a handsome boy with a lot of personality and is very smart. He even comes when you call him! Shiloh is curious, enjoys exploring, and is playful with his toys; he especially loves wand toys and catnip. He enjoys his cat tree where he can watch what is going on outside. He makes his foster mom smile and laugh every day. Shiloh should be an only cat. It is unknown how he would be with dogs or small children. He would do best in a home where someone is usually home, as he gets lonely when he's alone. Despite having a tipped ear, Shiloh has always been indoors; the clinic where he got neutered always tips ears. He was born in 2017, is neutered, current on his vaccines, microchipped, and negative for FeLV and FIV.

Story
Sammy is a sweetheart! Extremely affectionate and docile; Sammy is a real lap kitty who also likes to be picked up! He loves to play with feathers and eat Churus and chomp on cat grass. One of his favorite things is to perch on his cat tree and check out what's happening outside. He also loves hanging with his best friend, Nelson. Sammy is not a bold cat; he's more of a sensitive soul who would prefer a quiet home, and he does like having a quiet hiding spot if he feels worried. FELINE LEUKEMIA VIRUS (FeLV) Sammy and Nelson met because each had tested positive for feline leukemia virus (FeLV), and they became best friends. Having FeLV means that the immune system is compromised and the life span might be shortened if the cat is exposed to pathogens they cannot fight off. Illnesses can typically be treated, however, and FeLV+ cats can live normal lives. We recommend careful monitoring of weight, appetite, activity level, elimination habits, appearance of the mouth and eyes, and behavior as an important part of managing this disease. Because of this diagnosis, Sammy and Nelson should be the only cats in the household so that they do not catch things from other cats and the other cats aren't infected with FeLV. It is not easily transmissible through casual contact, surfaces, or clothes, or to other species of animals or humans. Due to the diagnosis, the adoption fee is discounted to $25. Sammy is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and tested negative for FIV.

Story
Courtesy Listing: This is Mr. Man (Manny), he's been a stray in my neighborhood since last winter. A neighbor trapped him and we're getting him ready for a new forever home. I took him for a vet check and he tested positive for feline leukemia, so he will need to be adopted to a home with already positive cats or as a solo cat. He is neutered, vaccinated, and FIV negative. He was very scared but within days had become the biggest sweetheart ever. He follows me around the garage and talks to me while I do chores. The minute I sit down he's jumping into my lap for pets and a nap. Manny will be a wonderful addition to your family.

Story
Nelson is a beautiful tabby with bright green/aqua ringed eyes. Nelson spent years in isolation before coming to his current foster, so he is adjusting to the joy of being free to move. He LOVES his new buddy Sammy! Nelson used to hide all the time, but is coming out of his shell. Now he is typically out and about, curiously watching the bigger world outside from his perch on his cat tree, or begging for food or playtime. He is still afraid of laps and does not want to be picked up, but he loves to rub his face on a person's hand and get scratches on his head. He is a gentle boy, but he still reacts with fear to sudden movements and sometimes greets people with a warning hiss. He loves to play with feathers and wand toys and chomp on cat grass. Overall he is shy and needs a place to hide if overwhelmed, but he is getting more and more comfortable with people and he is gaining confidence from Sammy. He watches how Sammy plays with toys and interacts with people, and then tries to imitate Sammy. Sammy and Nelson have become good friends and like to snuggle and play together. Nelson is sometimes over-interested in Sammy's food, so we recommend supervising them while eating wet food. They both hate the vacuum! FELINE LEUKEMIA VIRUS (FeLV) Nelson and Sammy met because each had tested positive for feline leukemia virus (FeLV), and they became best friends. Having FeLV means that the immune system is compromised and the life span might be shortened if the cat is exposed to pathogens they cannot fight off. It is not easily transmissible through casual contact, surfaces, or clothes, or to other species of animals or humans. Nelson is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and tested negative for FIV. Nelson's adoption fees have been 100% covered by a generous donor!

Story
This sweet, biscuit-making calico girl is ready to find her family! She loves to cuddle next to her humans and greet you at the door. Isabella came to 9 Lives Rescue weighing over 26 pounds. She has spent the last several months slowly losing weight and becoming the best version of her happy self. We are so proud of how far she has come! She is in very good health, and just needs humans who will keep her on her healthy diet and play with her. We believe she has always been an only cat, so we're not sure how she would integrate with another cat in the home. She would love the chance to meet you! Isabella is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and tested negative for FeLV and FIV.
