Story
Meet Monty. He is a beautiful 4 year old boy who is not a needy cat, to the point of being aloof at times. He does have a curious and playful side to him that he will show on his terms (He is quite fond of chasing the red dot) Monty's desperately seeking a forever family. He enjoyed being in the community room at the shelter with other cats and had close companionship with some of them. One of them in particular is Marie. These two enjoyed cuddling up together in the cat beds in the room. Recently Marie and Monty were given the chance to be housed together at the SPOT Clinic. They are continuing to settle in and getting the chance to have more individual time spent with staff. Monty is FIV + and can live with other cats and provided they do not fight he should not spread the virus. Come meet this distinguished fella and speak with the staff on he can be adding to your life!

Story
Say hello to this beautiful gal Jewel. Jewel is a 2 year old black tabby that is an alumni of the shelter but unfortunately found her way back to us in March after her owner passed away. She wasn't acclimating to shelter life so she came into foster with me. She has opened up quite a bit since being here. She is searching for that special someone who will give her time to adjust to a new home and will giver her lots of pets and love. She is a quiet girl, uses her litter box religiously and is especially fond of temptation treats. If interested in adopting Jewel and becoming her hero, you can apply online at HSOP.org or in person and a meet and greet can be arranged. Foster Rose Wilson

Story
Morticia is a beautiful 3-year old female kitty who was surrendered by her owner on May 20, 2023 along with her 3-month old kitten (Wednesday) and two one-year old male kitties (Gomez and Pugsley). Morticia has a sleek black short smooth coat, a long tail, and an adorable face with dark golden eyes, a black velvet nose, and long black whiskers. This lovely mother kitty is understandably frightened being in a small cage when she enjoyed the freedom of her very own home for several years. Morticia and her kitten Wednesday are sharing a cage so that they may provide comfort/security for each other. Momma and baby dearly love each other. Morticia was given vaccinations, wormer, and flea treatment on May 24, 2023. she weighed 6 lbs that day. Morticia was spayed on May 30, 2023 and was also given rabies vaccine. She weighed 6.04 lbs that day. Since Morticia has been spayed, she is ready to find a loving home either through adoption or rescue. Naturally we'd love for Morticia and Wednesday to find a home together. Rescue groups may contact our HSOV Feline Rescue Coordinator via email (sharonpaul2@suddenlink.net). We can usually help with transportation.

Story
Coyote is a magnificent one-year old male kitty who was surrendered by his owner on March 23, 2024. This handsome boy has quite a background story which we will share with potential adopters: Coyote originally came to HSOV May 31, 2023 when he was a teeny tiny kitten. He had been heard crying and meowing somewhere in a field close to our shelter that day .. Thankfully our HSOV kennel techs were able to apprehend this tiny boy and bring him safely inside our shelter on June 1, 2023. Coyote was understandably a frightened little guy and didn't realize he was among his new best friends, but within a couple of weeks he began to trust our shelter staff. Coyote was always a bit apprehensive when his cage door was opened and would usually retreat to the back of his cage, but he was actually a friendly kitten who was just putting up a brave front. Coyote has a gray-and-white short coat, a long tail, and a beautiful face with golden eyes, a gray 'beauty mark' beside his tiny black nose, and a long white whiskers. Coyote was given vaccinations, wormer, and flea treatment on June 1, 2023. He weighed 1.6 lbs on June 2nd. Coyote was given booster vaccines on June 22, 2023. He was neutered on July 17, 2023 and was also given rabies vaccine. Coyote weighed 3.14 lbs. that day. Coyote was adopted on July 21, 2023 and spent eight months in his adoptive home but came back to our shelter on March 23, 2023. His family told us that he has been an exclusive indoor-only kitty. Coyote gets along with cat-friendly dogs. He did not share his home with other cats, and he has not had experience with children. Coyote will run/hide when he is scared. He is quite playful but prefers to play when he is alone or out-of-sight. These photos of Coyote were taken on March 24, 2024 in the HSOV Jungle Room (one of our cat adoption rooms). Coyote was cute as a kitten, and he has matured into a very handsome young man with a sweet, rather quite, personality. Coyote is a big boy these days who weighs approximately 12-13 lbs. Coyote is looking for another loving home with a family or individual who would give him the time to acclimate on his own schedule to his new home. He is also available for rescue. Rescue groups may contact our HSOV Feline Rescue Coordinator via email (sharonpaul2@suddenlink.net). We can usually help with transportation.

Story
Fireball is a cute one-year old kitten who was brought to HSOV on April 19, 2023 along with her three siblings (Bourbon, Moonshine, and Tequila) and her mother (Whiskey). Fireball and her siblings were tiny 5-day old babies at that time. This little family had a heartbreaking story. Whiskey was a happy, outgoing momma and all of her kittens were 'carbon copies' of their beautiful mother. Whiskey had health issues and, sadly, passed away on April 27, 2023 .. Leaving her four 2-week old unweaned babies with no mother. Fortunately one of our wonderful foster mothers picked up the orphaned kittens later that afternoon and gave them the care/bottlefeeding that they needed in order to survive. But tragedy again struck this little family when three of the kittens (Bourbon, Moonshine, and Tequila) passed away on June 5, 2023. By some miracle, little Fireball survived (and thrived) and has been enjoying life in her foster home for the past year. Fireball had a black short smooth with a small patch of white on her chest, a long fluffy tail, and an adorable face with green/gold eyes, a black velvet nose, and long black whiskers. Fireball was given vaccinations, wormer, and flea treatment on June 5, 2023. She was given booster vaccines on June 26, 2023. Fireball was spayed on March 19, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine. She is a petite young lady who weighed 5.8 lbs that day. These photos were taken on March 19th after Fireball returned from her spay procedure and was waiting for her foster mother to pick her up to return to her home. Her foster family has nicknamed Fireball "Sunshine" since she loves to snooze and relax in sunny spots in their home. We have a feeling that Sunshine (aka Fireball) has already found her forever home (smile).

Story
This adorable pair of best friends (Daisy & Tux) were surrendered by their heartbroken owner on July 12, 2024 (through no fault of their own) due to an unexpected housing issue. Daisy is a beautiful 4-1/2 year old spayed female brown tabby with an affectionate easygoing personality. Tux is a 2-year old neutered male black/white tuxedo with a sweet, rather demure, personality. Daisy & Tux were inseparable in their previous home. Daisy seems to have assumed the role of ‘big sister/mother figure’ to Tux, and he depends upon her for comfort/security. Daisy & Tux are sharing a double-wide cage since we didn’t have the heart to separate them. Daisy weighs 10+ lbs. Tux weighs 8+ lbs. Both of these awesome kitties were originally adopted from HSOV, and we know that they have known nothing but love and the best care in their previous home. Daisy & Tux are looking for a fabulous home with someone who will once again love, cherish, and spoil them to their heart’s content. Update: Daisy & Tux were adopted together on December 15, 2024 but were returned on December 22, 2024 through no fault of their own. There were small children in their new home which frightened Daisy & Tux, so they stayed hidden until the youngsters went to bed. Their family loved these kitties very much but felt it was unfair to them hiding most of the time. Daisy and Tux are gentle and rather shy, so they are looking for a quiet home with someone who will have the patience to let them acclimate to their new surroundings on their own time frame (and with no small/active children in the home).

Story
Tux is an adorable 2-year old male Tuxedo kitty who was surrendered by his owner (along with his best friend Daisy) through no fault of their own due to an unexpected housing issue. Tux has a sleek black-and-white short smooth coat in a tuxedo pattern, white socks on his paws, a long tail, and an adorable face with bright golden eyes, a black velvet nose, and long white whiskers. Tux is good with children of all ages, and he is also good with other cats. Tux has not been around dogs, so we don't know how he would react to canine friends. Tux (and Daisy) have been exclusive indoor-only kitties, so that would be a requirement for their new home as well. They faithfully use their litterbox and have been accustomed to grass seed litter but will use fine clay litter as well. Tux and Daisy have been accustomed to eating Fromm Cat Food (and they LOVE wet food). They both enjoy laser cat toys, and Tux loves straws. Both of these kitties will chew on cords!! Tux has a delightful personality and is affectionate as well as playful though he can be a bit skittish/afraid of strangers. Tux will hide when he is afraid (and he loves to snuggle up in covered beds). Tux hates getting his nails trimmed. Tux's nose will 'dribble' when he's getting lovings and rubs/petting from his person. Tux is actually an HSOV alumnus who was adopted from HSOV on December 16, 2022. His name at that time was Mike-D and he was a cute 4-month old kitten. Tux (fka Mike-D) was given vaccinations, wormer, and flea treatment on October 23, 2022. He weighed 1.8 lbs that day. Tux aka Mike-D was given booster vaccines on November 14th and December 14th 2022. Tux aka Mike-D was neutered on December 13, 2022 and was also given rabies vaccine. He weighed 3.1 lbs that day, We have included one of Tux aka Mike-Ds 'big boy' photos which was taken on December 11th 2022 as he frolicked around the holiday decorations in our studio (and did a little re-arranging when he decided that the pine cones were great toys). He was cute as a kitten and is absolutely gorgeous as a young man. Tux & Daisy were inseparable in their previous home. Daisy seems to have assumed the role of ‘big sister/mother figure’ to Tux, and he depends upon her for comfort/security. Tux & Daisy are sharing a double-wide cage since we didn’t have the heart to separate them. Daisy weighs 10+ lbs. Tux weighs 8+ lbs.
