Story
Who doesn’t love a sweet black cat with 4 white prissy paws and a white mustache. Tootsie is a sweet girl who I think would do best in a quiet home. She takes a little while to warm up to you but after that she is yours. She is litter mates with Prissy and Sissy. She is current on her vaccinations, micro chipped and spayed. She is FELV and FIV negative. Her adoption fee is $100. Please consider giving these girls a chance to have a loving home. . Story
Hooduck (nickname Ducky) is a petite black cat who is a little timid, but once she gets to know you, is a real purr machine! She definitely likes to hide out until she gets to know you, but with some time will come around and be a real sweetheart like she is with her foster mom. We think a quiet home with no kids would suit her best. She is currently being fostered with Rohan but she seems to be a little intimidated by his size and outgoing personality. We really think she would prefer her own space and family. This darling little girl is already spayed, up to date on her shots, tested negative for FeLV and FIV, and is microchipped and treated for fleas and ticks. She's a special little thing and we'd love her to have her own special family! For more information, please call the Bedford Humane Society at 540-586-6100, or go to https://www.bhsva.org/adoptables to fill out an adoption application.

Story
Sissy's story as we think we know it today: Sissy was raised by humans as a young kitten then was tossed outside to survive on her own. Sissy became pregnant at an early age and raised her babies outside. No one knows what happened to this litter. Once again pregnant and on her own, a finder took her in to care for her and let her raise her babies. Due to getting pregnant at such a young age, Sissy's body never had the chance to develop into an adult size. Sissy is no bigger than a six month old kitten weighing only 5 pounds, half the size of an adult cat. Sissy once again has been tossed away from the finder to find herself taken in by a rescue. Sissy is so confused that she is not sure to hiss or purr when being touched. She is not at all feral but she does not know who to trust. Sissy needs a home where she can build her confidence and be a kitten that she never has had the chance to be. Sissy raised her last litter and probably will be great with a calm adult cat. Sissy has been dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated, and tested for Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). Sissy has also been spayed. If you can open up your home to foster or adopt, please visit our website at www.bhsva.org to fill out foster application or an adoption application.

Story
Thomas is a big sweet boy who takes a little time to warm up but has become a great little purr buddy with his foster mom and has become quite a snuggle buddy! He's also very vocal and will definitely let you know when he wants attention! Thomas is the only male in his litter and is the biggest kitten in the litter but absolutely loves to play and wrestle with his sisters. He is not really interested in the toys and would much rather play with the girls! He loves to cuddle and sleeps in bed with his foster mom and his litter mates. Thomas would love to be adopted with one of his sisters and it would help both kittens settle in more quickly. He is up to date on his shots, neutered, and his mother has been tested negative for FIV and FELV. For more information please call 540-586-6100 or apply online at bhsva.org

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. We have healthy feral and semi-feral cats in need of new outdoor homes! These cats make ideal residents for farms, horse stables, barns, and other suitable locations with outdoor shelter options. And they help with rodent control! The cats will all be spayed or neutered, vaccinated for rabies, and ear-tipped. The cats will require a period of adjustment to acclimate to their new outdoor homes, and we will gladly provide guidance and assistance with the relocation process. Barn cat adopters are required to fill out the same application as our regular cat adopters, however, we are much more flexible and less stringent with the application review process. Barn cat applications are sent to our TNR Program Manager following an initial review. We offer barn cats for no adoption fee, but we request a donation. This is because so many of these cats are unable to be tamed and therefore cannot be adopted as indoor pets. By placing them in a setting where they are safe and fed, you are giving them the best home possible for their circumstances; you are literally saving their lives. Many of these cats are in danger, unwanted, uncared for, are displaced or no longer have anyone to take care of them. They need a safe haven.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in this animal? The first step is an application, which can be completed at www.cvrrescue.org/adoption-applications/. The adoption fee helps cover a portion of the care provided for our animals, including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing for dogs, FeLV/FIV combo testing for cats, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines (including rabies vaccine), and any medical care received while in our care. All cats and dogs are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care. Notes about puppies: Adopters can expect a new puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal, energetic puppy issues until they are trained, including jumping, mouthing, and general youthful naughtiness. If you experience puppy issues, please feel free to contact us; we’re happy to offer guidance. Also, if a puppy is a mixed breed, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or if you’re looking for a specific adult weight, we don't recommend applying for a mixed-breed puppy. We also offer rehoming services for pets currently owned by individuals. In these cases, we list the animal as a courtesy to the owner, and the animal is not currently in the care of CVRR, such that we can make no representation or guarantee of the animal’s behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed for a courtesy-posted animal is provided by the current owner and should be verified by any potential adopter. CVRR is a nonprofit organization. We have no paid staff, and all applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it may take 7-14 days to process your application, check your references, and gather follow-up info. You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone numbers and email addresses for your vet and landlord references, and by answering each question fully. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the animal picks you, too. If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, we will collect the adoption fee and complete the adoption contract. CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization, and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out, the animal must be returned to CVRR. We will reevaluate the animal and choose a new home based on the best fit for it. November 5, 2024, 11:25 pm

She is not happy indoors and will try to escape, but she loves blankets and toys....just watch that she doesn't eat them! She does not seem to be fond of other pets or children, so we are looking for an outdoor home with no young children, though we suspect that much of her attitude is due to being indoors when she would prefer to be outside. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. It's hard to get a picture of Jolene, because she always wants to be in your lap! This beautiful girl has been through a lot, but she is the sweetest girl. She is extremely affectionate and loves interactive play or sitting contented in a lap, purring and giving little kisses. She was rescued by a good Samaritan after she had been hit by a car; her pelvis was crushed, and her tail had to be amputated, but she has healed well and is ready to find her forever home. The only remaining issue from the accident is that her pelvis is very narrow, such that she needs her diet and stools monitored to make sure her stools are soft and easy to pass; it is very difficult (likely impossible) for her to pass large, hard stools. She seems to do best with cheaper, less digestible food (NOT grain free), both canned and dry, and a once-daily dose of Miralax and Lactulose. She can't jump any higher than a chair, and even that is difficult for her. Jolene will do well with gentle dogs and careful children. We would like her to be adopted to a home in the Lynchburg area so that her current foster (a veterinarian) can continue to monitor her condition and provide any care necessary.  Jolene is also FIV positive, which means she has Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. Simply put, she has a weakened immune system. FIV is technically contagious to other cats but is only transmitted through deep bite wounds, so as long as cats aren't fighting, there is no risk of transmission. FIV+ cats can live normal, healthy lives. Read more about FIV here: https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/feline-immunodeficiency-virus-infection Jolene's adoption fee is $75. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in this animal? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bo came to us as a rehome from a home where he was very loved.  Unfortunately Bo's two older siblings became aggressive towards him after their human mom became pregnant so they decided to rehome him so he could have the life he so deserves.  Since moving in with his foster mom at CVRR Bo has made AMAZING progress from being guarded and scared to now being a part of the pack.  He's living and thriving with young kittens at the moment and hasn't been aggressive at all.  When they get too crazy around him he lets them know and they all respect one another's space.  Bo loves to play and climb on the cat tree by the window, which is also where he lays in the sun and watches the birds and people outside.  This big boy would do best in a calm household.  He has lived with a dog in the past and they were best friends so he would likely be OK with another calm dog if introductions are done slowly.  Bo is very affectionate and will do a little happy dance for you when you come home so he can get ALL the pets. This cat's adoption fee is $75. Many cats do so much better in pairs, especially kittens, which is why we offer a reduced adoption fee of $25 for the second cat (or more!). Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in this animal? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Two sisters together forever! Junie and Edyn are sweethearts. These brown tabby and white cuties were abandoned at a convenience store but are now safe and cared for while they wait for their forever home. They will jump in your lap to eat treats from your hand. They also love to rub their faces on yours to say, "Treats, please!"
