Story
Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation. We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve. Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable. Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography. What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes. Dear kind humans, My name is Millie, and I’m reaching out with a heart full of love but also a bit of fear. I need your help, and I need it urgently. I’m almost 3 years old, and I’ve already been through quite a journey. My humans rescued me from the side of the road as a stray, and since then, I’ve lived as a cherished indoor cat. They’ve made sure I’m spayed, kept up with my rabies vaccine, and deworm me regularly. I had a bit of dental trouble in June, where I had to have several teeth pulled, so now I’m on a wet food diet. My vet is hopeful that my dental problems are behind me, and I’m feeling sprightly and full of life! Here’s the special thing about me: I’m a female orange tabby, which is pretty rare! Most of the orange cats you see are boys, but here I am—a little orange gem who just wants to cuddle and love her people. I’m playful, energetic, and always ready to hop into your lap and purr up a storm. I’m a little shy when meeting new people, but once I warm up, I’m all about the snuggles. I’m gentle, too—never scratched or hissed, not even when my human’s 1-year-old niece is around. I share my life with another cat named Iris (she may have found her new home and I'm still praying for mine). We weren’t instant friends, but after a couple of weeks, we grew close. We could move together, but if you only have space for me, I’ll be fine as long as I’m safe and loved. And that brings me to why I’m here. Things have taken a tough turn in our home. The dog I live with has become aggressive toward me, and I’m scared. My humans do their best to protect me, but it’s getting harder. Iris and I now have to stay in one room with the door closed all the time, just to keep us safe. It’s a lonely and confined way to live, especially when all I want is to be close to my humans, enjoying cuddles and playtime. Hiding away isn’t the life I imagined. I need a new home where I can feel safe again. I don’t want to live in fear, locked away behind a door. I’m looking for a quiet, loving space where I can curl up in your lap and let my sweet nature shine through. I promise to bring warmth, joy, and lots of purrs into your life. I may be shy at first, but once I trust you, I’ll be your most loyal companion. I’m a loving, gentle soul who just wants a safe place to call home. If you can open your heart and your home to me (and maybe Iris, too!), I promise to bring you all the love, warmth, and snuggles you could ever hope for. Please, if you can help me find a safe place, I’ll be forever grateful. With love and hope,Millie *Guest Posting If you would like to meet your new best friend(s), contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees. Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee. Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need.
