Story
Noodle came to our rescue on October 8, 2024. He was dropped off at the Lancaster Animal Shelter with what they believed was a broken hind leg. X-rays concluded it wasn’t a break but perhaps a birth deformity. He was about three weeks old, but was also small for that age and quite frail. We named him Noodle because when we gave him an intake bath, there wasn’t much life or fight in him. He was the proverbial wet noodle. On October 11, we brought Noodle to an orthopedic specialist who confirmed it was a birth deformity. Because he could bend the leg, he equated Noodle’s deformity to a child’s greenstick fracture and put a splinted soft cast on the leg to straighten it out. If the splint didn’t work, Noodle would likely need the leg amputated. Over the next weeks, we adjusted the soft cast to allow for growth and to assure circulation. Noodle did a great job adapting to the cast and roared through the foster room with the other kittens. To everyone’s great surprise, when the orthopedic vet removed the cast, the leg muscles were a little atrophied, which was to be expected, but the leg remained straight. In a few days, Noodle built up muscle strength in that leg, and unless you know what to look for, you probably won’t notice he has one slightly pigeon toed back foot. Noodle’s still tiny body holds a giant personality. His joyful energy fills every room. We took in Nugget, another orange tabby kitten, at the same time. Nugget is also a bundle of energy. The two are quite bonded, and we hope they can be adopted together. Noodle is FIV/FeLV negative, vaccinated, and litter trained. Our nominal adoption fee covers his medical exams, deworming, vaccines, blood tests, and spay/neuter. To set up a visit with Noodle (or with Noodle and Nugget), drop me a note at cherylsferalsandfosters@gmail.com or PM me. If you are considering adopting one or both, please fill out and submit the adoption contract found in The Adoption Process link on my website (cherylsferalsandfosters.com). Story
Nugget came to us on October 22, 2024, as a single orphan. We thought he was female and originally named him Muffin, until we noticed his nuggets. He was found alone in some bushes along a trail. The young girl who heard him crying looked for his mother, but when mom didn’t show, she took the kitten home and gave him two full baths before she brought him to us. He was small but his teeth indicated he was about four weeks old, so we are calling his birthday September 24, 2024. That is Nugget’s story. From the moment Nugget came to us, when he isn’t sleeping, he’s running, climbing, and playing. He’s by far the tiniest kitten in our foster room, but the only one who figured out how to escape. He can squeeze through the bars of the foster room gate. We had to make adjustments. A few days before Nugget arrived, Noodle, another orange tabby kitten, came to our rescue. Nugget and Noodle are bookend bundles of energy. The two are quite bonded, and we hope they can be adopted together. Because we would love for them to stay together, if you choose to adopt both kittens, we will adjust the adoption fee accordingly. Nugget is FIV/FeLV negative, vaccinated, and litter trained. Our nominal adoption fee covers his medical exams, deworming, vaccines, blood tests, and spay/neuter. Story
Meet Penny, our very cute dilute Tortoiseshell girl. Penny came to us on October 14, 2024. A family found Penny alone in a ditch. They waited a few hours for the mom to come back, but when she didn't, they took her in. She was close to three weeks old, so we will call her birthday September 23, 2024. When Penny isn’t sleeping, she runs, climbs, and plays with the other foster kittens. She is happy, healthy, and full of joy. We prefer that she be adopted with one of her orphan playmates, but will make an exception if she is going to a home with another cat or with a cat-friendly dog. We have learned and the research shows that kittens adapt better and socialize more quickly in their new home if they have a companion fur friend. Penny is FIV/FeLV negative, vaccinated, and litter trained. Our nominal adoption fee covers her medical exams, deworming, vaccines, blood tests, and spay/neuter. To set up a visit with Penny, drop me a note at cherylsferalsandfosters@gmail.com or PM me. On occasion, inquiries are not forwarded automatically to our rescue by Adopt a Pet. If you would like to inquire about one of our kitties, please reach out directly to the rescue. Thank you! This pretty young lady found herself a mommy and dumped on the streets. She has had a challenging beginning, yet she is now safe and healthy with our rescue. Bailey is understandably shy and fearful, and her perfect forever home is one that is calm with no young children. Adoption events are stressful for this beauty, so we are happy to set up a meet and greet. Could you be the person to bring this girl the love she deserves? Bailey has had age-appropriate vetting, is FeLV/FIV negative, microchipped and has been spayed. FREE wellness visit with adoption. Saving Southern Kitties has the most comprehensive vetting standards for adoption. Story
On occasion, inquiries are not forwarded automatically to our rescue by Adopt a Pet. If you would like to inquire about one of our kitties, please reach out directly to the rescue. Thank you! This handsome boy was found outdoors and taken in to be neutered but was much too friendly to go back outside. He loves being an indoor cat, particularly with all the attention he gets from us humans. He absolutely needs attention. The more people in the home to love him and play with him, the better. Children should be 8+ as he may play bite. Ask to meet this young fellow at his foster home and see for yourself. Willoughby has had age-appropriate vetting, is FeLV/FIV negative, microchipped and has been neutered. FREE wellness visit with adoption.
