Story
Birthday: June 2017 Lucky (his foster mom calls him Bubba) is a wonderful kitty who is currently living in a foster home in Harrisburg. He was found in the Lancaster area and taken in by LCCR when he was an older kitten. He is extremely shy during the day and will run from you...but when night time comes around, he comes to his foster mom and is quite loving. He can't help his being shy, but he makes up for it at night! He needs a single cat home and would be ideal for an older female owner who doesn't have children and has a lot of patience! He has been with his foster mom for two years, and while she loves him dearly, she keeps hoping there is a forever home out there for him! Lucky R's adoption donation is $75 which includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and neuter.  If you would like more information on Lucky R, please contact Barb at lovingcarecatrescue@gmail.com. Story
Birthday: September 7, 2019 If you want to talk about a kitty-lover, no human alive can even come close when you compare them to Kandy!  This girl is a cat girl!  She always has been even when she was a stray!  Kandy was rescued when she was about a year old while she was wandering around Harrisburg during the summer of 2020.  Little did her rescuers know that they didn't just rescue one kitty; they rescued 4!  That's right!  Little Kandy was pregnant with kittens!  Thankfully, they were delivered safely to the delight of their mother.  She was incredibly attentive mama who didn't let them out of her sight!  Once they were all adopted, Skitzer decided it was her turn to find a family! It wasn't easy initially!  The poor girl was very skittish around humans initially.  It took about a year for her foster parents to show her that humans aren't all scary!  Once she became used to them, she began to show them a bit of love too!  It went from hiding behind furniture to being held like a baby!  Maybe not for the longest periods, but she loved every second of it!  She'll only blossom more if she finds a home with people who are interested in socializing her and make her feel safe! However, NOTHING compares to her love for her brethren!  She somehow managed to develop a friendship with other kitties in her foster home though mutual grooming and cuddling!  She may even warm up in her future family home if they have a kitty buddy for her!  Don't worry though!  She's one of the most passive cats you've ever see, and if there is already a "top dog" in the house, she will be submissive towards them. Special kitties and the people who love them deserve special treatment. That’s why Kandy has a watercolor portrait which will be given as our gift to the special person who adopts her.  Kandy’s adoption donation is $115 which includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing (negative) , spay and microchip.  If you would like more information on Kandy, please contact Jamie at lovingcarecatrescue@gmail.com. Story
Birthday: May 13, 2020 Esmae is one of the most interesting kitties we've ever met!  She has unique characteristics in her personality that makes her stand out among other cats.  How so, you may ask?  Well, in order to tell you, you need to know how she was in the beginning! Esmae started her life in the great outdoors.  She was part of a TNR project; however, before she was trapped, the humans who caught her noticed that she was a nursing mother!  They decided the best course of action was to allow her to nurse her babies before they spay and return her to the outside world except  for one thing: Esmae didn't want to go back!  There was no way she was going to head back to the streets!  So, trappers concocted a different plan!  They managed to rescue her from the streets along with her kitten, Petula, and took her to LCCR in the hopes of finding her a family!   Now this was more up her alley!  Esmae and Petula arrived at their foster home, which was a scary experience.  Esmae was shy around humans, and it took time and patience for her to feel safe around them.  In fact, the only living beings that she warmed up to quickly were other kitties!  She absolutely loves spending time with her kind, and she couldn't wait to get to know them!  In fact, during the time that Esmae was caring for her little one, she was also nursed other foster kitties!  She became a surrogate mother in a way that wasn't anticipated!   Esmae is still shy around people initially, but when she warms up to someone, you can be sure that she'll love you like one of her own kittens!  Patience and time are the keys to helping her get there!  Once she gets to that point, she will talk your ear off and socialize with you like you've been best friends for years!  She loves to tease humans by wanting to get pets, but she stays JUST out of reach so you have to work for those pets!  She can be a little troll sometimes!  As long as her new home is quiet (and has some cat buddies), Esmae will find a way to wriggle into your heart... maybe one day, in your lap! Esmae's adoption donation is $115 which includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and spay. Story
Birthday: August 1, 2018 It's hard to imagine the life that Skitzer had before she was rescued, but we will try to paint you a picture.  Imagine a 3 months old weighing less than 2 lbs.  They have no mother to care for them, no family to love, and no friends to talk to.  That's what Skitzer had to live with while she was a stray.  Everything was frightening, and the only thing that she knew was to scurry away from what she feared.  As a result, she developed anxiety, hoping that all of the things that she thought were coming to get her would just leave her alone. Skitzer was rescued when she was an adult, and as you can imagine, it was one of the scariest situations of her life!  When she went to her foster home, she would run and hide, doing everything within her power to avoid the humans who were caring for her.  Her foster discovered that keeping her in a separate room for a bit until Skitzer acclimated to them was the key to helping her feel secure.   And it worked! After a bit of time and patience, Skitzer began to trust the humans who were caring for her, and she started to let her guard down a bit!  Once they were able to build trust and develop a relationship with her foster, she became a sweet, affectionate, and very cuddly kitty!  She loved to show her appreciation by grooming her humans, making biscuits, and even tag along whenever there were chores to do around the house!  She might be on anxiety medication for the trauma she had to endure, but it's almost a complete turnaround from how she was in the beginning!   Skitzer is now looking for a family to call her own!  She might have the same reaction she did when she first arrived to her foster home, but we believe that she is more than capable to taking to people like she did with her foster.  She seems to get along with other cats, but she prefers to keep to herself.  She can get bullied very easily, so it might be best if she was the only kitty.  However, she might do well with a very calm kitty or cat-savvy puppy dog.  The smaller humans tend to startle her since they can be jarring with their wild movements and unpredictable behavior.  So Skitzer is hoping that her new home doesn't have any children.  She would be beside herself if anything were to happen to them because of her!  Remember, she may be a bit of a 'fraidy cat, but at the end of the road, only snuggles and chest cuddles are waiting for you! Skitzer's adoption donation is $75 which includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, spay and microchip.  If you would like more information on Skitzer, please contact Christy at lovingcarecatrescue@gmail.com.
