NOW YOU DID IT! You found a cat rescue that’s unique, kind of small, but does some really BIG things for the community cats in Pittsburgh. It is an awesome place to come and see if your next kitty cat is here, patiently waiting for you to come and get them. The rescue is on the 2nd & 3rd floors of my Pittsburgh home (I reside on the 1st floor). Set up an appointment to come and visit by calling or text FAON @ 412-863-0064. I will show you all of the cats and then you/yours can go around and visit with them. Feed them a Churru or two...but remember this- not the big, older orange or white ones! They are my cats Ralph and White Boy and know the trick and will act starved. You will see, they are not. Once the adults are vetted and tested/vaccinated- I let them free roam. We have a large, outside CAT E O where some enjoy to layout outside. There is also plenty of room inside for a good cat nap. We always have cats in a wide variety of age/personalities. Don't forget to visit the shy one in the corner, those cats need a chance and will blossom in a calmer environment (and are often times the best cats). Lots of the kittens here need your time, esp. at first. We save the cutest cats from outside, neglect, poverty, sad emails or stumble upon them by luck over and over again. Come see why Save Our Strays has adopted out over 1000 cats in 4 years. We use some of our profits to TNR (trap, neuter, release) countless strays that are too unsocial for a home but desperately need altered. By spay and neutering them, they can live a healthier life & we help decrease the number of outside domestic cats. Adopting from Save Our Strays helps to support that. A little about me and SOS. I rescue and live with the cats, so I am very familiar with them and their background. I have three amazing women that volunteer here. They help to make this drastic change in the cat’s life possible. We do all that we can here for the cats. Often, we are complimented on how clean everything is. We use stainless steel litter pans and bowls that are disinfected daily. Litter robots to help keep the litter boxes fresh. We feed Purina Pro Plan (kitten)and a canned breakfast with a probiotic. All of the cats are dewormed, given Capstar for fleas, have at least one/two FVRCP vaccines, rabies, ear mite treated (if needed), combo tested for FeLV & FIV, and microchipped. If you have done the long cat application and then no one gets back to you, or the cats already adopted by the time they do, then yinz should check us out. We have same day adoptions. I do not have a long application process. I ask that you are allowed to have a cat where you live and are financially able to afford their care. I ask that you not declaw that cat and if they get sick take them to the doctor. Give the cat time to slowly adjust, one last time to their new environment, so its a pleasant experience for them. The cat has most likely been through a lot before finding you. You are also rescuing them. In return, they will love you for life.

Story
Theo is such a sweet boy and is a huge cuddler. It breaks my heart to part with him but he does have some slight anxiety that started when I moved in with my husband, his son and his cat. Between that and now moving and having a baby in the past year there’s been a lot of change he hasn’t been happy and needs a place a little calmer. He’s fine with kids as long as they’re not too fast or loud so would do better with older children. Not a huge fan of dogs but hasn’t been around any often enough to adjust to one. Mostly fine with other cats, I believe it’s the stress of the environment that’s giving him most of the issues with our other cat.

Story
Looking for a new family member with an inspiring story and a playful spirit? Meet Mini! Mini is a sweet and spirited one-year-old who loves making biscuits, gentle pets and showing off her pouncing skills with her favorite toys. This little survivor was born with a condition called eyelid agenesis and recently underwent successful surgery to reconstruct her eyelids. Currently in foster care, Mini is great with cat-savvy kids and gets along well with other friendly cats. She hasn't met any dogs yet, so her reaction to canine companions is still a mystery. If you're ready to welcome a playful and resilient kitty into your home, Mini could be the perfect fit! Apply today! https://new.shelterluv.com/form/other/PGH/8583-adopt-an-animal-in-foster

Story
Bonita is a playful, affectionate cat with a warm heart. Though she may take a moment to get comfortable, she quickly opens up when given the space to approach at her own pace. Once she feels at ease, Bonita becomes a truly loving companion who adores gentle attention. She's also a social eater, preferring to enjoy her meals with friendly company nearby. Bonita came to us from a hoarding situation, and because of this, she didn't learn how to properly communicate with humans. Sometimes she gets Big Feelings and doesn't always know the best way to express them. She will expect you to be fluent in cat body-language and understand when she needs space. This, combined with her high energy-levels, means that we require Bonita go home with an experienced cat owner who has experience with easily overstimulated cats. If you're that person, Bonita will make a wonderful, devoted friend with an endless supply of love to give!
