Story
Please visit ladybirdanimalsanctuary.com for more info and to apply to adopt. Katsura! AGE AT ARRIVAL: Approximately 10 years old ARRIVAL DATE: October 14th, 2023 GENDER: Spayed Female ADOPTION FEE: $200 Katsura ended up at Hamilton Animal Services as a stray and was not claimed. She is microchipped, but the chip was not traceable. This is your reminder to keep your pet’s microchip info up to date with the chip company! If you move or change your phone number without letting the company know, they won’t be able to contact you if your pet is lost or stolen. When Katsura arrived at the shelter, her ears were full of debris and they were very itchy. Her abdomen was distended, and her spine was prominent. Because of the overwhelming number of cats currently at Hamilton Animal Services, Katsura ended up on the euthanasia list because of her age and possible health issues. We were happy to get Katsura out of the shelter when HAS staff reached out to let us know her life was in danger. Thankfully, we had a foster home open up just at the right time, and they love fostering senior cats! Win win! Over the next few months, Katsura had many vet visits and was eventually diagnosed with calicivirus and mycoplasma it took a long time to get her healthy enough to be made available for adoption, but she’s ready! Because the possibility of future flare ups of the calicivirus and mycoplasma, Katsura should be the only cat in the home. Here’s a note from her foster family. “Katsura has to be the cuddliest cat that we have ever fostered. She is constantly on our laps, snuggling in our beds or can be found nestled in some blankets or clean laundry. She has a fantastic purr and will roll with you while sleeping- she doesn’t care if you roll over, she will just re-situate herself. Katsura has a fantastic purr and when she is really in a happy place, she definitely drools a little bit. Katsura is also a fantastic alarm cat. She knows exactly when it’s feeding time and will let you know when you are 30 seconds late with the cutest little me-ow. She adores her food and treats. Katsura contracted calicivirus and mycoplasma during her stay at animal services. These both will be a part of her life and she might have some flair ups during moments of stress and will have to go on antibiotics to make sure it doesn’t end with a sinus (and connecting ear) infection. Katsura’s ears were a mess when she first arrived at Ladybird and they tend to be a sensitive part for scratches so the we have learned to avoid scratching her ears unless Katsura lets them know its ok. Katsura has a fantastic warning growl before she swipes and now that her ears are cleaned up and not bothering her, those growls are few and far in between. Katsura is being fostered with a pupper who adores cats. She has no problem letting the dog know that she is the boss and to back off when he is getting too excited and it fine with ignoring him completely when just living together. We definitely have come across Katsura and the dog sleeping together on the couch. Although Katsura is estimated to be about 10 years old, she has bursts of energy and loves chasing toys around the house and attacking the feather duster. She also gets the cutest zoomies when it’s dinner time and will run around the house to get your attention that it’s time to eat.” Please adopt Katsura! Story
Meet Cleo! 1 1/2 yrs Spayed/Female Rescued from a hoarding situation, and urgently in need of medical treatment and care, this stunning black beauty is shy to start, but warms quickly into a gentle natured and inquisitive young cat who loves petting and brushing, but does not like to be picked up or held. Cleo does well with other mild mannered cats, enjoying company, but also preferring a bit of her own space - she would make a nice fit for an older cat friend who is looking for a cat buddy who isnt into intense, active physical play, but a friend to relax and perhaps cuddle and nap with as they get to know one another and form a caring bond. Cleo was born with deformed toes, resulting in very unusual shape and growth of her toes and nails, as a result, she underwent surgery and had one front paw fully declawed to remove nails and toes that we fused together, leading to on-going pain and discomfort - Cleo will require on-going attentiveness to her nails and will need regular grooming and pedicures to keep her nails trimmed, healthy, and he feet happy and comfortable. A beautiful, well mannered and sweet natured young cat with so much love to offer a lucky new family, Cleo hopes that there is a kind and caring family out there who can show her what it is to be a spoiled, well loved and treasured Forever Cat! Cleo has been fully vetted and vaccinated, she has been spayed and is fully recovered from the surgery on her paw. An adoption fee of $200 applies. If you have room in YOUR home and heart for beautiful Cleo, please submit an adoption application today at http://priderescue.ca/

SHEILA - DSH, female, spayed, black, DOB Jan 1/23, blind REDUCED ADOPTION FEE $125 Sheila is a petite sweetheart! She is super affectionate and great with other cats. Sheila is very visually impaired though we don't think she's totally blind (she might see a bit of shadows). She runs, climbs and plays with toys like any other cat so she's definitely learned to live with her limitations. Unfortunately, she does have a chronic sinus condition that may flair up when stressed. November 5, 2024, 10:10 am

Story
Meet Vlad! 1 year Neutered/Male FIV+ A remarkably handsome marbled tabby boy, just a kitten still at approx. 8 months, Vlad is a cute and quirky fellow who is just over-flowing with charm! As sweet as he is good looking, Vlad is a gentle natured, warm and kind little soul who adores people and is ever willing to provide cuddles and affection, a dedicated lap cat and purr machine with a bright, positive and fun-loving good nature and so much love to share. Found struggling on the streets, and in need of a hand, he quickly showed his incredibly loving purrsonlity to his rescuer, and he has been winning hearts every moment since! Vlad has tested positive for FIV, he is however very healthy despite having a compromised immune system, and while he will have an even greater need for yearly vet checks to keep tabs on his overall and oral health, he is at this time a vibrantly healthy and happy young cat with a great deal of love to share. A very friendly and happy fellow, he is a chatter who frequently chirps and talks, he's an absolutely amazing conversationalist, and also a very willing listener as he sits on your lap, gazing up into your eyes offering up encouraging and heartwarming purrs. Vlad had a broken canine that needed to be removed, and he's been left with a bit of a lip curl that looks very much like an impish and playful smirk of good humor - one can not help but grin back at his cute little face! Vlad, who adores other cats, is looking for a home where he can join at least one cat friend. he truly loves his playmates, and is an active, fun and playful lover of romping and chasing around with a buddy, he is gentle and has never become aggressive or bitten any of his foster house-mates, which is the one concern faced in having an FIV+ kitty in a home with FIV negative cats. He wants nothing more than to love a cat friend, love some special humans, and to make the absolute best of all the love and kindness that is shared with him. If you are looking for a cat who truly is the whole package, with the good looks, the gentle soul and the happy-go-lucky purrsonality, look no further than sweet Vlad who is ready and waiting to give all of himself to loving YOU! Vlad has been vet checked and fully vaccinated, he has tested positive for FIV, has been provided with dental care, he's been microchipped, neutered and treated for parasites, he is healthy, happy and ready to meet with the special people he is going to share Forever with - might that be you? An adoption fee of $250 applies. Please submit your adoption application to day at http://priderescue.ca/ ** Vlad was rescued by an independent rescuer and is being featured by Pride Rescue in order to have as many opportunities as possible to connect with a new Forever Family. Applications will be forwarded to Vlad's caregiver, who will handle screening and adoption, and to whom adoption fees are payable. Vlad has been provided with exceptional care and kindness since his rescue, has been well and appropriately vetted and is a wonderful cat who is looking forward to loving a family as special as he is! **

Story
Crush is a domestic shorthair black female who is 4 months old. She has a cute little grey spot to the right of her neck and is sister to Schweppes, and Baja Blast. Crush came to DRK from an outdoor colony with her siblings. We are so happy they were caught just in time before the weather began to turn super cold. These kittens are on the shy side, still adjusting to indoor sounds such as the tv, dishwasher, and vacuum. They are quite sweet and quick to purr and are adjusting to the good life quickly! They love to play with each other, but their favourite toy when not chasing one another is any ball track toys! Watching the ball spin round and round and trying to make it speed even faster is mesmerizing for these siblings. If you're looking for a pair of kittens or a single kitten as a playmate to your young cat or dog, you can't go wrong with our fizzy fizzy pop pop kittens! Crush is spayed, microchipped and is vaccinated for FVRCP. She will need her rabies vaccine when age appropriate which will be the responsibility of her adopters. Her adoption fee is $300 or $550 as a pair with a sibling. To apply, please submit an adoption application.

Story
Wagner is a 4 month old domestic shorthair black female with cerebellar hypoplasia (CH). Please read the entire profile as she has special needs. Her condition will not progress or cause her life to be any shorter than any other kitten, it just makes her a little extra special. Meet Wagner, a kitten with a symphony of personality traits. Sweet as a morning serenade, she is a loyal companion who will always stay by your side. Her gentle nature is akin to a soothing lullaby, while her funny antics will have you laughing like a lively scherzo. Smart and curious, Wagner will explore her surroundings with the enthusiasm of a rousing overture. She's a cuddly, goofy, playful, and energetic little maestro, conducting her own orchestra of fun and love. Adopt Wagner and let her fill your life with her harmonious melody of companionship and joy. Wagner and her siblings have something called cerebellar hypoplasia which is a congenital condition affecting the part of their brain responsible for motor function. Long story short, it causes cats to be uncoordinated and wobbly, which does not stop them from being able to do anything a cat needs to do. They love to play and wrestle together and are able to eat just fine. They are using the litter box with no troubles while at rescue and in their foster home. Each of the kittens have varying degrees of the signs of cerebellar hypoplasia. Wagner's signs are very subtle. She sways back and forth slightly when sitting, walking, eating, and drinking. We have a veterinary resource on cerebellar hypoplasia which we are happy to send to anyone interested in adopting Wagner or her composer siblings but wanting to know more first about CH. We recommend speaking with your veterinarian first to know all the ins and outs of adopting a kitten with CH. Wagner is a very sweet and affectionate girl. She would be best paired and adopted with one of her siblings, who would no doubt make their adoptive new family extremely happy and give them years of laughter, love and fun. She LOVES to wrestle and would greatly benefit from a young cat in the home to play with and learn from. They do not like to be alone and need a furry companion to groom and cuddle with. Wagner is spayed, vaccinated with FVRCP, and is microchipped. She will need a rabies vaccine when age appropriate which will be the responsibility of her adopters. The adoption fee for a single kitten is $300 and $550 for a pair. If you are interested in adopting, please submit an application.
