Please visit ladybirdanimalsanctuary.com for more info and to apply to adopt. Katsura! AGE AT ARRIVAL: Approximately 10 years old ARRIVAL DATE: October 14th, 2023 GENDER: Spayed Female ADOPTION FEE: $200 Katsura ended up at Hamilton Animal Services as a stray and was not claimed. She is microchipped, but the chip was not traceable. This is your reminder to keep your pet’s microchip info up to date with the chip company! If you move or change your phone number without letting the company know, they won’t be able to contact you if your pet is lost or stolen. When Katsura arrived at the shelter, her ears were full of debris and they were very itchy. Her abdomen was distended, and her spine was prominent. Because of the overwhelming number of cats currently at Hamilton Animal Services, Katsura ended up on the euthanasia list because of her age and possible health issues. We were happy to get Katsura out of the shelter when HAS staff reached out to let us know her life was in danger. Thankfully, we had a foster home open up just at the right time, and they love fostering senior cats! Win win! Over the next few months, Katsura had many vet visits and was eventually diagnosed with calicivirus and mycoplasma it took a long time to get her healthy enough to be made available for adoption, but she’s ready! Because the possibility of future flare ups of the calicivirus and mycoplasma, Katsura should be the only cat in the home. Here’s a note from her foster family. “Katsura has to be the cuddliest cat that we have ever fostered. She is constantly on our laps, snuggling in our beds or can be found nestled in some blankets or clean laundry. She has a fantastic purr and will roll with you while sleeping- she doesn’t care if you roll over, she will just re-situate herself. Katsura has a fantastic purr and when she is really in a happy place, she definitely drools a little bit. Katsura is also a fantastic alarm cat. She knows exactly when it’s feeding time and will let you know when you are 30 seconds late with the cutest little me-ow. She adores her food and treats. Katsura contracted calicivirus and mycoplasma during her stay at animal services. These both will be a part of her life and she might have some flair ups during moments of stress and will have to go on antibiotics to make sure it doesn’t end with a sinus (and connecting ear) infection. Katsura’s ears were a mess when she first arrived at Ladybird and they tend to be a sensitive part for scratches so the we have learned to avoid scratching her ears unless Katsura lets them know its ok. Katsura has a fantastic warning growl before she swipes and now that her ears are cleaned up and not bothering her, those growls are few and far in between. Katsura is being fostered with a pupper who adores cats. She has no problem letting the dog know that she is the boss and to back off when he is getting too excited and it fine with ignoring him completely when just living together. We definitely have come across Katsura and the dog sleeping together on the couch. Although Katsura is estimated to be about 10 years old, she has bursts of energy and loves chasing toys around the house and attacking the feather duster. She also gets the cutest zoomies when it’s dinner time and will run around the house to get your attention that it’s time to eat.” Please adopt Katsura! Story
Meet Cleo! 1 1/2 yrs Spayed/Female Rescued from a hoarding situation, and urgently in need of medical treatment and care, this stunning black beauty is shy to start, but warms quickly into a gentle natured and inquisitive young cat who loves petting and brushing, but does not like to be picked up or held. Cleo does well with other mild mannered cats, enjoying company, but also preferring a bit of her own space - she would make a nice fit for an older cat friend who is looking for a cat buddy who isnt into intense, active physical play, but a friend to relax and perhaps cuddle and nap with as they get to know one another and form a caring bond. Cleo was born with deformed toes, resulting in very unusual shape and growth of her toes and nails, as a result, she underwent surgery and had one front paw fully declawed to remove nails and toes that we fused together, leading to on-going pain and discomfort - Cleo will require on-going attentiveness to her nails and will need regular grooming and pedicures to keep her nails trimmed, healthy, and he feet happy and comfortable. A beautiful, well mannered and sweet natured young cat with so much love to offer a lucky new family, Cleo hopes that there is a kind and caring family out there who can show her what it is to be a spoiled, well loved and treasured Forever Cat! Cleo has been fully vetted and vaccinated, she has been spayed and is fully recovered from the surgery on her paw. An adoption fee of $200 applies. If you have room in YOUR home and heart for beautiful Cleo, please submit an adoption application today at http://priderescue.ca/

SHEILA - DSH, female, spayed, black, DOB Jan 1/23, blind REDUCED ADOPTION FEE $125 Sheila is a petite sweetheart! She is super affectionate and great with other cats. Sheila is very visually impaired though we don't think she's totally blind (she might see a bit of shadows). She runs, climbs and plays with toys like any other cat so she's definitely learned to live with her limitations. Unfortunately, she does have a chronic sinus condition that may flair up when stressed. November 5, 2024, 10:10 am

Story
Bach is a 2 month old domestic shorthair brown tabby male with cerebellar hypoplasia (CH). Please read the entire profile as he has special needs. His condition will not progress or cause his life to be any shorter than any other kitten, it just makes him a little extra special. Meet Bach, a kitten with a symphony of charm. This sweet and adorable soul is the maestro of mischief, his curiousity leading him to explore every corner of his surroundings. Bach is friendly to everyone he meets, his goofy antics warming the hearts of those around him. Despite having cerebellar hypoplasia, Bach doesn't let this hold him back. He climbs and runs to and fro. One of his favourite resting spots is the top of the cat tree. He's a testament to resilience, his spirit unbroken by his condition. Bach's infectious joy and unwavering courage make him the perfect companion. Adopt Bach and bring home a symphony of love and laughter. Bach and his siblings have something called cerebellar hypoplasia which is a congenital condition affecting the part of their brain responsible for motor function. Long story short, it causes cats to be uncoordinated and wobbly, which does not stop them from being able to do anything a cat needs to do. They love to play and wrestle together and are able to eat just fine. They are using the litter box with no troubles while at rescue and in their foster home. Each of the kittens have varying degrees of the signs of cerebellar hypoplasia. Bach's signs are very subtle. It's mostly noticed in his wobbliness in his back legs when he walks. We have a veterinary resource on cerebellar hypoplasia which we are happy to send to anyone interested in adopting Bach or his composer siblings but wanting to know more first about CH. We recommend speaking with your veterinarian first to know all the ins and outs of adopting a kitten with CH. Bach is a very sweet and affectionate boy. He would be best paired and adopted with one of his siblings, who would no doubt make their adoptive new family extremely happy and give them years of laughter, love and fun. All the composer siblings (Wagner, Tchaikovsky, and Schumann) LOVE to wrestle and would greatly benefit from a young cat in the home to play with and learn from. They do not like to be alone and need a furry companion to groom and cuddle with. Bach is neutered, vaccinated with his first FVRCP, and is microchipped. He will need two booster FVRCP vaccines and a rabies vaccine when age appropriate which will be the responsibility of his adopters. The adoption fee for a single kitten is $300 and $550 for a pair. If you are interested in adopting, please submit an application.
