Story
Tammy, Terry and Otty are our 3 momma cats that all gave birth outside, in harsh elements and with no guaranteed food, water or shelter. They didn’t ask to grow up outside, where they would have to fend for themselves but now the difference is, they were not only fending for themselves, but for their now newborn kittens. Each mom had kittens around the same time – about 4 months ago. All in different areas but mostly around the Texas/Mexico area. This area is almost a 3rd world country for animals. You see animals wandering the streets at every turn, cats ran over in the roads and left for weeks. Animals scavenging in trash cans for food and drinking dirty gutter water just to stay hydrated. These 3 girls were going to be just more stray cats, and probably soon, road kill. Thanks to a bunch of good Samaritans who notified rescues of these moms and kittens in the conditions they were – Terry – Was actually a Mexico kitty – born and grew up outside. She had no owners. She hung out around one neighborhood where the right person visiting from the states saw her, big bellied and ready to pop with kittens. She asked all the neighbors if anyone wanted to claim her, nobody did. They also did not want her in their neighborhood anymore, especially having kittens. So, with no guarantee and unsure what to do, the good Samaritan decided she would help this momma cat. Within a day, Terry had 3 beautiful kittens. The kittens just look like their sweet mom, orange and white. Terry has big, beautiful honey-colored eyes. Her eyes really look into your soul and just melt your heart. She does not have a mean bone in her body. She has since turned from an outside cat to an all indoor one, and she’s loving her new life. Unfortunately, she doesn’t know it’s just temporary though. Terry is a bit fearful of doggies and is nervous around other kitties (but not mean). She is getting used to being held and would make a wonderful, cuddly, lap kitty for a quieter home. She loves to relax, sunbathe and just stretch out in the coolness of the home. Terry is on the smaller side weighing only about 6-7 lbs. She’s very petite. She is approximately 2 years old. Tammy – Tammy is a petite, but beautiful, white and grey kitty who also only weighs about 6-7 lbs. Tammy was found by a volunteer’s family member along the Texas Mexico border. She gravitated towards that family members’ home because she would put cat food outside for her cats, and Tammy, fending for herself, was starving and needed food. She ended up having kittens at this person’s property, but this property is in the country where there are a lot of predators for small animals. One by one the kittens were found dead or just missing completely. It was down to 2 when she notified our volunteer about them. Unfortunately, she then decided she didn’t want to give them up. The kittens were about 4-5 weeks at this point, and suddenly 1 of the 2 were found dead. That’s when she surrendered them to us, and we got them to safety where Tammy and her kitten Minnie were thriving. Minnie, her only kitten, was adopted and is now living his best life in Connecticut. Now it’s Tammy’s turn to find her forever home. Tammy is such a sweet girl. She loves to be pet and she loves her humans. Despite only knowing the outside, she has turned completely indoors where she has thoroughly enjoyed the AC and her cat trees. She likes to hang her legs off the cat trees and watch the busyness of the house and look out the windows at her old life. Tammy loves other cats and gets along great with them, is a little timid with dogs but with patience, can live happily in a home with them. She would do great with children. Otty aka Otilia – Otty used to be an apartment cat down by the Mexico/Texas border. She was a very loved girl – that is until her owners moved and decided they didn’t want her anymore. They tossed her outside of their old apartment unit and left, never turning back. Otty didn’t know what to do, how to fend for herself, or how to live. She only knew the indoors. The neighbors would feed her because they felt bad, but nobody took her in. Animal control didn’t care. Months went by, Otty never left those apartments, and she soon found herself in more of a pickle, she was pregnant and ready to burst. She ended up having 5 beautiful kittens behind her old owner’s apartment. They were born in the grass, with no shelter from predators. Those newborn kittens were going to be instant prey to the coyotes, raccoons and other wildlife in the area. The cleaning lady of the complex heard crying and went to investigate when she found 5 newborn kittens and Otty, laying there nursing them against the building. She took a picture, sent it around, but no rescues had room. Our volunteers heard about it, contacted us and immediately went and picked them up. Otty and all 5 of her babies survived, and the kittens are now all adopted and in their forever homes in the northeast. Now it’s Otilia’s turn. Otilia loves to be petted and lay on the couch next to her humans. She’s a very lazy girl, but after raising 5 kids for 8 weeks, I think most of us would be too. She loves to lay belly down, legs stretched in every direction on the foster’s cool tile floor. Otty enjoys playing with toys when she’s not napping. Her favorite one is the feather on the end of a stick being waved around. She prefers to be laying down on her tummy when playing with it. She has met dogs, and her motherly instinct is to hiss to protect her kittens, but now with no kittens, she’s understanding dogs can be friends and is getting used to them. She doesn’t mind cats at all. Otty, Tammy and Terry are all purring machines. They love to be loved, and they all love pets from their humans. They have adapted to the inside love perfectly and have no issues. All 3 cats are litter box trained. If you’re looking for calm, relaxed cats that won’t tear up your home and are a bit lazy, and enjoy companionship or lap cats, 1 of these girls will be perfect for you. Please consider adopting an adult kitty today. If you’re interested in applying to adopt – Please fill out an application at www.pawsitive-impact-animal-rescue.org

Story
LuCasey is a beautiful, overly friendly 10 lb kitty that LOVES everyone and everything. This girl is about 4 years old and was found wandering 3 years ago under a bridge, surrounded by highway and saltwater, and nowhere to go. People were fishing and noticed her spinning in circles and acting very strange. To find out over a few hours she was drinking the salt water and making herself sick – With some fresh water, groceries and love, this girl came around in no time and the good Samaritans knew they couldn’t leave her down there to fend for herself. LuCasey has lived happily in a home with 5 other dogs and 1 other cat. She is a wonderful girl. She loves to be right next to you, if it was her choice she would be in your lap 24/7. She is the best lap kitty with the biggest purrs. She strives to be petted all the time. She has been mainly indoors, but she does enjoy going onto the back porch and sunbathing outside in an enclosed area. She would be happy just being an indoor kitty, sunbathing on windowsills. LuCasey would do best in a home where somebody is home more often than not and somebody that wants a lap cat or a cat that loves dogs and doesn’t mind other kitties. She is not sensitive to food and loves all treats! She hears a treat bag, and she will come running from wherever she is. LuCasey is fixed, current on vaccines, microchipped and will have her health certificate giving her a clean bill of health from a veterinarian. You can apply to adopt LuCasey at www.pawsitive-impact-animal-rescue.org

Story
Toby was born to a feral mother on my property. Operation Snip trapped the mom and the litter, but decided they wouldn't foster the mom. Instead they would turn her out as a community cat on my property. I felt that she wasn't totally feral and decided to keep her and one kitten. Unfortunately, she taught the kitten, Toby, to be fearful of everyone but me. After a year and a half, she left and never came back. Toby is still with me and can be very loving. He does all of the things a typical cat will do ... rub up against me, talk with me, sleep on my bed, get in my lap, play, go outside for a few hours each day. However, when it comes to strangers and loud, unexpected noises, dogs, etc., he's very afraid. He has gotten so that he will stay out (not run to his safe place) sometimes when people visit and he's even let a few people pet him. But he will need a lot of patience and extra care to learn to be in a new home. He doesn't like noisy, loud people or environments.

Hi! My name is Sincere and I am a Spirit Cat. This means I can be a bit shy or nervous and I appreciate the company of cats more than humans. An adult only, experienced home with other cats would be ideal for me! Since I am shy, I would like to go to a home with an experienced cat owner. I love relaxing in my hidey tube with my Spirit Cat friends, and if you give me space I`ll peek out and watch you while we hang.Even though I am not super into cuddles, I will still make a great companion and maybe we can even do some birdwatching together!

Hi, my name is Christian! Do you want a cat who you can talk to about anything? If you answered yes, I can be the cat for you! I`m super good at holding conversations and I will always give you my honest opinion. When I`m not chatting up a storm, you can find me playing, gazing out the window, or snoozing in my favorite bed. I love being the center of attention, so I will need to be your only cat. I also have some medical issues, but it`s not as scary as it sounds. If you want a new gossip buddy, please email tmanzer@mohawkhumane.org to set up an appointment so we can meet each other. I can`t wait to spill some tea with you!
