WALLY got his name because he was found in the Walmart hair salon. He is a dashing senior tuxedo boy who loves to perch on countertop corners with his paws elegantly together. Friendly, but initially shy, he loves attention and will walk under your hand - hint, hint - for you to pet him. He has one curled whisker; which adds to his silly expression. WALLY is perfect in every way. He was born about 2010.

Story
Silly GABBY is looking for her forever family to entertain! This petite girl will keep you laughing with her antics and she loves to play mouse smackdown! GABBY likes to ride around on your shoulders and will give your cheek a little kiss. Her sweet side also comes out once she gets to know you and she likes ear scratches. We think she is quite the sleeping beauty when she's rolled up on her back with paws curled in the air. GABBY is active, only 6 pounds, and would like to be your only cat. She was born in 2012 and has no special needs.

Story
Totally gorgeous TABBY! With her piercing green eyes and beautiful stripes, she’s definitely a pretty cat. And her whiskers are impressive! TABBY is a gentle girl and curious girl. She wants to see what you’re up to, but prefers to get to know you from afar. After an hour or so she often decides you’ve passed her test and will let you meet her properly. Once you’re friends, she’ll arch her back and ask for pets. TABBY has some good kitty friends that she likes to snuggle with, so she could be a good option for a household that already has cats. She was born in 2016. TABBY is a shy cat, so she will need a patient and thoughtful introduction to your home, but it will be so worth it! Since TABBY takes some time to build trust with new people, we know she might not show as well to potential adopters. ARF volunteers are happy to talk to you about her and can even share videos of affectionate behavior you may not see when you visit.

Story
TAFFY is the perfect black cat... except for that little white tip on her tail! We often find her perched on the highest spot she can find to keep an eye on the goings on in the room. She's SOOO curious and wants to know what you're up to. Did someone say shoelaces? Hoodie string? TAFFY is all over it! She'll never let you down with her antics. In other words, she's the perfect pick-me-up. As she gets to know you she likes to follow you and watch from a nearby ledge, but from afar, until you're real friends. She's the perfect home supervisor. If you're good friends, she might even let you give her gentle pats. She was born in 2016. TAFFY is shy with new people and hides when potential adopters visit. For this reason, she's never gotten a chance at a forever home. We don't know that she'll ever be a snuggler, but she would still be an entertaining companion. We think she would do best in a home with no young children, due to her shyness, and she’ll need a patient and thoughtful introduction to your home. ARF volunteers are happy to talk to you about the personality of shy cats and can even share videos of affectionate behavior you won't see when you visit. We know shy cats don’t show well to potential adopters, but they still have so much love to give and when you become their person there’s nothing quite like that special bond you form.

Story
This curious girl is cute as a button and has a lovely, little white locket on her chest. We can often find MAGGIE snoozing on the window seat looking extra pretty. We think she has the softest fur of any kitty we’ve ever known. It’s silky smooth and she likes pets once she’s gotten to know you. MAGGIE likes to hang out with other kitties and though she’ll run up with the kitty welcome committee to say hello to her favorite people, she tends to be skittish with new people, but warms up after a few visits. She would be a great addition to a home that already has kitties and for someone who is looking for a quiet, sweet girl. She was born in 2015. Since Maggie hides when potential adopters visit, even though she's had many visitors, she's never found her forever home. Maggie was adopted once and returned because they felt she wasn’t adjusting quickly enough, despite not following our advice to ease her transition to a new place. She will need a thoughtful and patient transition to your home to flourish. We know if you give her a chance, she'll be a wonderful addition to your family!

Story
CAROL is a mellow tabby who would be a fantastic companion. When she gets pets or a back scratch, she starts to melt into a happy, purry mush. Though generally calm, CAROL will shift into a silly, playful girl when you dangle a string in front of her. Her favorite spots are cozy cushions where she can snuggle up for a nap. She’s such a good girl who gets overlooked because she isn’t flashy or demanding. She was born in 2015. CAROL is diabetic but takes her shots with no fuss. She's no drama and does fine with other cats.

Story
Eddye is a fantastic, very affectionate cat. He's a big boy at 16 lbs, and tall. He desperately needs someone to love, and be loved by. A quiet home with a large, mothering dog is best suited as he can be quite pushy when he rubs against another animal, but needs that assurance from a steady, calm animal. He enjoys the safety of an outdoor enclosure where he greets passersby and where he can be away from the cats in the house. He loves dogs, but gets overwhelmed by other cats. He still kneads the bread, so to speak, and I find him often times trying to snuggle with my dog. He can get anxious when around too many other cats or stimulus. With the exception of one cat... his love Truffle. Truffle has her own special needs as she never quite got used to humans. She's lived in foster for 4 years and is completely in love with Eddye. On the occation when Eddye has vet appointments she searches for him until his return. Their's is truly a partnership and they should not be separated. Truffle is house trained and is quite comfortable living inside with option to go out (in an enclosure). He is extremely routine oriented; this helps keep him calm and comfortable. Eddye will be best suited with a home where he can get LOTS of individual attention. He is a bit anxious, and needs calm, loving companionship. He takes a long time to adjust to new things, so a stable, consistent home is especially important here. Eddye is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, he has been dewormed and deflead. He has tested negative for FIV/FeL and heart worm. All of which is included for the adoption donation of $125. He was born on the Ides of March, 2012 in Beacon, NY and closes the loop as the last generation coming from his colony. His special needs consist of simply keeping a steady environment and schedule, and offering him your love and attention. His interesting face is so unique that he captures the attention of anyone looking at him. Have you ever seen such eyes? He is truly special. He is vetted, and waiting for his forever family to meet him and fall in love. If you'd like to meet Eddye, please complete our application and we will contact you for an appointment. We work in our homes, therefor require a completed application before we give you our address for a visit.  Our required adoption donation is $150 per kitten or $125 per cat (older than 9 months). All our rescues are up to date on shots, microchipped, tested for FIV/FeL. They are dewormed, treated for parasites and free of fleas. Each is spayed or neutered and given a rabies vaccination. An application must be completed to be considered to adopt from Stray HELP. Story
Truffle is a gorgeous girl that has never quite gotten used to humans. She was caught outside in a very large colony when she was about 6 weeks or so. She is polite and very well mannered, but doesn't allow her fosters to touch her. She loves to watch TV! She'll also watch Youtube videos for cats. She seems to get picked on by other cats but she is completely in love with Eddye, who is an incredibly social, loving and fairly "simple" cat - he's obsessed with foster mom. Truffle follows Eddye around, flirts and inspects him after foster mom has pet him to make sure he's still him. She watches over Eddye almost constantly. She does best in her own space with Eddye which is provided for them with a cat door leading to an enclosed outdoor area. She really loves spending time outside. Truffle is quite curious, and even nosy! She will watch from a few feet away, she loves to play, and will swat at string toys and balls that you throw to her. She gets along with other animals as long as the other animals are not overbearing. We are seeking a very specific placement for Truffle and Eddye together. She's a beautiful calico/tortoiseshell and he is a handsome black and white cat. Do you have room in your heart and home for this special needs pair? All adoption fees will be waved to give this lovely pair a chance. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, has her rabies shot, and she tested negative for FeL/FIV. Please complete the adoption application to be considered for adopting Truffle  November 5, 2024, 8:42 am

Story
This full of personality guy is looking to retire. He was part of a TNR project in Poughkeepsie NY, returned, and captured again 2 weeks later. He had a wound on his back paw that healed very nicely, and in that healing time his charming personality came shining through! He's fairly demanding for treats, attention, food, attention. HE IS A LAP LOVE!! If you are looking for a companion in your quiet home - he's your guy. We have nicknamed him Mr McSweetie. He's a motor boat and a perfect lap cat at nearly 17 pounds. Gangsta will keep you nice and toasty! Experience with cats is a must. He can be pretty assertive and not for the faint at heart. We love this guy and know his match is out there! Our required adoption donation is $150 per kitten or $125 per cat (older than 9 months). All our rescues are up to date on shots, microchipped, tested for FIV/FeL - Gangsta is FIV+. Story
Ariel is a gentle soul with people, and an athlete when chasing her toys! She's a sweet little gal that loves to play, and then snuggle for a nap. Ariel would do well in a quiet home as a single pet so she can be doted on as a loyal companion; she enjoys focused attention from her people, and plenty of squeeze up treats! We estimate her birthday to be May 27, 2021. Ariel and her family were rescued from the City of Poughkeepsie, NY.  Our required adoption donation is $150 per kitten or $125 per cat (older than 9 months). Story
Stanley is as sweet as he is adorable. He is inquisitive and playful. He tends to be a follower, so placement with a cat that can show him the ropes would be best. Story
Kennedy is a sweet boy - just like the orange tabbies many of us love so much. He is gentle and loving, albeit still shy. He enjoys being pet and cuddled and he loves being bribed with treats!  Kennedy would be a good fit for a fairly quiet home and a loving family who spends lots of time loving and doting on him. He gets along well with other cats. Kennedy spent the first few months in rescue recovering from some of the health issues he endured due to the hoarding situation he was in.  A neighbor alerted us to a large group of cats that he was seeing come and go from a house whose occupant had recently been evicted. The house was left in shambles, filled with cages and carriers and the cats were left to fend for themselves. Many of the cats had parasites and umbilical hernias - that have all been addressed. Kennedy even got dental surgery! Now, they are looking for a loving home where they can live out their lives the way they should - comfortable and safe. We estimate Kennedy to be approximately four to five years old. Our required adoption donation is $150 per kitten or $125 per cat (older than 9 months). All our rescues are up to date on shots, microchipped, tested for FIV/FeLV/Heartworm. They are dewormed, treated for parasites and free of fleas.
