Story
Meet Gracie Gracie is our gorgeous, super social gray and orange lady! She came to HAP when her previous owners could no longer care for her, but it didn't take her long at all to make herself right at home... She's our confident girlie and the first to greet any human that walks into the free roaming cat room. Gracie is also head of the welcoming kitty to any new felines that join her in the cat room! She's made friends with our shy ones and helps bring them out of their shells and teach them how to cat or she's also joined right in with the confident kitties. Gracie is down to make friends with anyone and everyone! Did we mention she's playful? Gracie loves her toys and is happy to chase a feather or scurry after a little stuffie. So if you're looking for an affectionate, kind, friendly feline then Gracie is the one for you! If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific cat but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! Story
This kitten has just arrived! They have come to us on transport from a shelter partner, were found as stray, or surrendered to our care. When kittens arrive to us we are typically unsure of their full background, litter box habits, how they are with handling, or how much socialization with humans/animals they have received. Kittens require a significant amount of patience and training to learn how to behave properly in a home. The first few months of having a kitten is a critical time to improve socialization and help your kitten become confident. Exposing your kitten to all kinds of touch, sounds, people, and animals can ensure a well-socialized adult cat. Remember, kittens aren’t born knowing how to live in a human’s world, it is up to you to teach them how to make good decisions in a positive and caring manner. The more positive interactions they have in their first year of life will set them up for better behavior in the future. If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. Story
Meet Peach Peach and her brother Zucchini came to HAP when they were just baby kittens found wandering the streets in the city. While they're still getting used to their new temporary home here in the Rehoboth kitten room, we've learned a few things about them. First is that they're the best of friends! 99% of the time you'll find Peach and Zucchini up to something together. Whether they're cuddled up together taking those all important kitten naps or playing a game of cat and mouse with their sibling or friend as the mouse, they're always up to something together! Because of how close they are and how much they rely on each other, they do have to go together but I mean the only thing better than one kitten is two! Peach is the female and she's the slightly more brave and confident one out of the pair. It doesn't take long for her to warm up to new people and when she does, she's the cutest little snuggle bug! She especially loves to try and catch your fingers with the gentlest little love nibbles and play when she's being held and getting pets. Peach is also the more social out of the two and has made friends with all the other kittens she's met so far. So if you're looking for a pair of siblings who've only known life with each other and need a little extra TLC, Peach and Zucchini are the kittens for you! Story
Meet Shug! If you're looking for a cat that's as sweet as shugar - look no further than Shug! Shug is our resident 1 year old female calico believe it or not. She recently came to HAP when her owner was no longer able to take care of her and she's starting to settle in. Shug is a little on the shy side so she would do best in a home as the only cat in the home. She would also love a family that gives her a little extra TLC and help build her confidence to grow into the best cat she can be! Shug likes to climb up onto the cat towers, especially to tune into our cat tv channel, and she does enjoy playing with the feathers and chasers as well. Shug's warmed up to a couple volunteers and staff members and will seek out affection from them - her favorites are chin scratches! And you'll know when she really loves you because she'll roll over and offer up her belly for some rubs! So stop by today to see if you need a little extra Shug in your life! Due to Shug's fearfulness of other cats and dogs, she would need to be the only animal in the home. Meet Zucchini Zucchini and his sister Peach came to HAP when they were just baby kittens found wandering the streets in the city. While they're still getting used to their new temporary home here in the Rehoboth kitten room, we've learned a few things about them. Because of how close they are and how much they rely on each other, they do have to go together but I mean the only thing better than one kitten is two! Zucchini is the just slightly bigger brother and is the more shy one of the two. It does take him a little longer to warm up to new places and new people but he's gaining confidence every day and starting to explore the big world! Zucchini loves his chin scratches and will happily start purring when you hit just the right spot. We've also seen him venturing out of his favorite hiding places every now and then to make some new friends with the other kittens. Usually Peach is playing with them first and then Zucchini will join in and it's so great to see him finally starting to be a playful kitten! We're confident that with a little extra TLC and some reassurance, Zucchini will grow into a confident handsome man who'll still sometimes need a little extra sister cuddles from time to time. So if you're looking for a pair of siblings who've only known life with each other and need a little extra TLC, Peach and Zucchini are the kittens for you! Story
Meet Jeanie Gold Jeanie Gold came to HAP along with her four kittens when a good Samaritan found them wandering the streets. Jeanie was just a kitten herself when she became a mom and once she finished taking care of her babies, the kittens were put up for adoption and have all found loving homes so now it's mama's turn! We're still getting to know this beautiful calico as she settles in but here's a few things we do know. She can be shy at first but with a little baby talk and some treats, she opens up and will accept pets. She can be sassy and get overstimulated easily so will need an adopter willing to go at Jeanie's pace and earn her trust. Jeanie hasn't been the biggest fan of other cats so would need to be the only feline friend in the home. We also think she would do best in a home without dogs as she seems absolutely terrified of them and this girl has already had a rough start to life so we want to find her the best home that fits what she needs. Jeanie also loves the string and wand toys and enjoys a good session of pounce on the 'prey'! She's quite the agile little girl! One of Jeanie's favorite things though are treats so we're sure that with some extra TLC and a lot of treats and food, Jeanie can be won over and we're confident in the right home she'd make an excellent feline companion. So if you're interested in this sassy and shy misunderstood girl, stop by today to meet Miss Jeanie Gold! If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals.
