Story
Persephone is a beautiful cream-colored cat with one green eye and one blue eye. She is absolutely terrified of the shelter environment. She and her sister Styx originally came from a closed animal shelter in Kansas and were adopted together 4 years ago. Both girls were returned to us when their human moved in with a family full of allergies. After a few years in her previous home, she refused all human contact. She came to us seriously matted and angry. After a full haircut, she looks much better but is still terrified and scared. The shelter is not a good placement for her, but we are doing our best. She and her sister will need the most patience of any cat we have seen in quite some time.  The adoption fee is $125 + tax and covers age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter. The adoption fee helps cover the cost of these vetting procedures. Persephone is bonded to Styx and they must be adopted together. Please note, that we do NOT allow the declawing of any cat or kitten we adopt unless deemed medically necessary.  We will gladly provide you with alternative methods of managing cats with claws. We're open from 12-4 PM every day EXCEPT Wednesday! Did you know you don't need to have an appointment to visit our available cats and dogs***? Simply drop by and if you find a potential new furry friend, you can fill out an application on the day you visit. Go to townandcountryanimalrescue.org to fill out our digital application. Applications are typically processed in 3-5 business days. Once you're approved, you can return on the date and time set up by your adoption counselor, with your family for a meet and greet. If it goes well, you can take your new best friend home on the meet and greet day! ***Please note that animals in foster homes cannot be viewed at our rescue, and appointments are still required to meet them. Story
Miss Kitty is an 8-year-old beauty who came to us when her human had a change in living status. We are working on building her trust  She has taken up residence in our kitchen and is usually found on top of the fridge or in a cabinet. This silly girl is looking for a patient home that is willing to work with her at her pace. The shelter isn't a good fit for her. Her person said she was slow to warm up, but after 6 months in the shelter she is still giving the cold shoulder. Her box of choice is very accurate. Brat instead of Brats! The majority of Miss Kitty's adoption fee has been sponsored! Her current adoption fee is $25 + tax and covers age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter. The adoption fee helps cover the cost of these vetting procedures.  Please note, we do NOT allow declawing of any cat or kitten that we adopt out, unless deemed medically necessary.  We will gladly provide you with alternative methods of managing cats with claws. Story
Meet Sissy and Missy - These two beautiful 9-year-old front-declawed tabby girls have had their lives turned upside down after their beloved owner passed away. Sissy is the social butterfly of the duo and is adjusting much better to life at the shelter. She loves finding cozy napping spots but will happily come out to say hello and get some much-deserved scritches. Missy, on the other hand, is having a tougher time adjusting. She is very fearful of her new surroundings and has been seeking solace in hiding spots. We strongly believe that she will thrive in a loving home environment. It would be amazing if we could find a home for these two girls together. They have been through so much and deserve to find comfort and happiness once again. The adoption fee is $75 + tax and covers age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter. The adoption fee helps cover the cost of these vetting procedures. Story
Tupac is a loveable one-year-old who refuses to leave your side at night. He absolutely needs some cuddles at night, or he will be sad. Tupac is not an avid cuddler in the daytime, but he will have his moments until he completely quits and starts running around. He will vocally "talk" with you and express concern for mealtimes, a dirty litter box, and any attention he is not receiving. He is the friendliest cat ever and will greet strangers and your friends who visit. My favorite moment is when I adopted him from a local shelter where he wouldn't stop "talking" to me until I brought him home. The best part about him is any ball or small toy you throw for him to chase he will bring right back. Tupac is a very playful young kitty who loves quality time above everything else.

Story
He was rehomed to me late July 2024 with another cat. Prior owner said he does okay with small dogs, but neither of us has exposed him to larger dogs. He has only been an indoor kitty. He was previously living in a basement, with access to only one window to look out. He currently lives in an apartment with access to balcony deck, that he enjoys going out on. Not de-clawed. He had a vet checkup in September 2024 for being sneezy and was given some medication. He only sneezes once in awhile, otherwise vet said he is healthy! He is on a grain-free diet. He uses his litter box and likes it kept clean. He is skittish at first and will find somewhere to hide until he feels comfortable. It will take some time to warm up to you, but treats help to build trust! Once he does, he will snuggle up with you at night/early morning, while he makes biscuits. It's very important that he goes to someone who can give him daily attention. You'll need to interact, give pettings and have playtime with him

Story
The great news is cats are being adopted as fast as we can post.  Which also means fewer postings.  Follow us on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/solascb We have cats available for adoption 24/7 at the PetsMart in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  Exit 47 by Target. All SOLAS cats/kittens are spayed/neutered, current on age appropriate shots , wormed, feluk/fiv tested and micro chipped prior to adoption.  We are a network of foster homes, we do not have a shelter, so the fur babies are also litter box trained and treated to make sure there are no fleas.  (We don't want that in our homes either!) Generally every Saturday, we have a SOLAS representative in the store from 11 - 3 to assist with adoptions.  Cash only as the PetsMart can not run SOLAS adoption fees through the register.   November 5, 2024, 6:18 pm

She has come a long way from the hissy, spitting kitten she was to grow into the tolerant, friendly cat she now is. She gets along with dogs (as long as she can look down at them from a cat tree) and has become a wrestling partner to Henny Penny. Like any other cat that started out living on the street, she is food motivated. Open a can of cat food and she will break the sound barrier racing to you.  CJ has exotic amber eyes and velvety gray fur.      November 5, 2024, 6:18 pm
