Story
Little Pumpkin at a glance! Female (will be spayed prior to adoption) 3 months old Domestic short-hair 2 lbs. At risk of being dumped at 5 weeks old, Pumpkin’s foster family swooped in to save her mama and 8 siblings. Pumpkin is not shy; she is friendly, very low key and sweet. She has been handled and is learning not to play with cords and other toy-like household items. She is confident, loves companionship and likes to snuggle. She is a nurturer and likes to clean the other kittens after they have eaten. She enjoys playing with either her siblings or foster mom. Pumpkin's dream day would consist of a yummy breakfast, cleaning her siblings, lots of playtime and then a nap in the sunshine. If peace, love, and happiness could be bottled up in a kitten, it would be Pumpkin!   Interested in adopting? Of course, you are! Submit an application here!  December 3, 2024, 2:56 pm

Story
Meet Girly, a lovely lady looking for her forever home. When she arrived at the shelter after her owner died, she was severely underweight and in bad shape. But once the shelter staff nursed her back to health, they reached out to the MCSPCA for a foster home, and Girly adapted well to leaving the shelter, lounging in the sun, playing with feather toys, and watching birds out the window. Due to her playfulness, the MCSPSA’s vet estimates she may be younger than what the shelter originally thought. But she is now happy, healthy, and ready to go to her forever home. She is a sweet and affectionate cat, although she does have her boundaries. She will keep you company as you work from home and has no qualms about interrupting your zoom calls or demanding pets. She is curious and outgoing, and likes her food (she will not let you forget meal time) and feather toys. She is talkative, and will ask for food or playtime. She will sleep on your bed or next to you on the sofa, and greet you when you come home. She would be a wonderful addition to any family. To adopt you must first complete an adoption application and meet the cat either virtually or in person in its foster home. We do not do same day adoptions so, generally, we can only adopt within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

Story
Burritos and his brother are an inseparable pair looking for their forever home together. These playful, loving kitties born on/around March 31, 2024, are the perfect combination of spunky and sweet with little motors that can run a long time, and they're ready to bring double the joy to your home. These boys share a special bond and find comfort in each other's company. They play together, nap together, explore together and are always looking out for one another. Adopting them as a pair means double the love and double the fun. Also by having a built in playmate who is always ready to go, they are more likely to adjust well to any household with or without other pets.        They are well-socialized, respectful of the foster mom's resident cats and have been exposed to a few cat friendly dogs whose company is often sought out. To adopt you must first complete an adoption application and meet the cat either virtually or in person in its foster home. We do not do same day adoptions so, generally, we can only adopt within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

Story
Lilly is a gray tuxedo born May 4, 2024. Lilly is an adorable fun, energetic, playful, goofy girl. She is a cautious explorer, taking her time to check out new surroundings before she fully commits. She loves to run around, or just tear back forth in the house. She may be, not so secretly, training for a marathon. When Lilly is not causing typical kitten mayhem, she likes to spend her down time in a nice cat tree for a nap or sitting on the kitchen water cooler with a view out the window of the deck to bird & squirrel watch. She will find anything not nailed down and use it as a toy. You have been warned. Lilly has adapted to being around multiple other cats, of all ages, and a large dog. She doesn’t mind any of them, well maybe the dog. If the dog gets too rowdy she just runs off, she’s way faster than the dog. Lilly would be fine as an only cat who gets lots of attention and play time. She would also be good in a home that already has other pets. Lilly is sweet and affectionate on her terms and when she wants it, so stereotypically cat like. As she gets into her mid kitten year she is starting to slow down and want more lap time which is fabulous because her fur is so very soft and a joy to pet. Lilly would be a fun loving addition to any home. To adopt you must first complete an adoption application and meet the cat either virtually or in person in its foster home. We do not do same day adoptions so, generally, we can only adopt within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

Story
Rock Creek Cats, a nonprofit in the DC area, seeks barn homes for feral cats rescued from dangerous situations. These cats are not tame and need a home at a farm, horse stable, or other suitable outdoor environment with shelter. All the cats have been sterilized and vaccinated against rabies, and now need an outdoor home where they can live out their lives. Be prepared for a brief period of adjustment. Moving to a new home is stressful for anyone, cats included! After a short stay in secure confinement, the cats will accept their new home and be chasing mice out of your barn with enthusiasm. The cats will be delivered to their new homes. Guidance and supplies will be provided during the relocation process.

Story
My brother Perry (tabby/white) and I were thought to be part of a feral cat colony in Kensington (Montgomery County), and we supposed to go through a trap-neuter-return (TNR) program. But we turned out to be too sweet to be returned outside. We were pretty shy at first but are coming out of our shells and like to be petted and held. We play with toys with a human assistant or on our own. Although we’re equally very cute, Decker definitely wins the toe contest – he has six extra! We’re looking for a patient adopter who will allow us to gradually warm up to a new home. Could you be the one?
