Story
Athena is a sweet, gentle, affectionate, playful cat. She loves to curl up on her foster mom's lap and will purr her heart out in contentment. When not snuggling, she'll play with kittenish abandon, stalking, chasing, and pouncing on her toys in a display guaranteed to bring laughter. But things aren't always so easy for Athena. Born to a feral mom living in a cat colony, Athena missed out on full socialization to people as a kitten. Because of this, she's shy with strangers, new things can be scary for her, and she has an easily triggered startle response. But she's also a wonderfully resilient cat who has demonstrated that she can trust and bond to people. She's blossomed into a loving feline companion in her foster home, and her foster mom believes that she can also thrive in a quiet, adult-only forever home. To keep her digestive system healthy, Athena requires a prescription diet, Hill's Biome, which she loves and does very well on. She is six years old, spayed, felv/fiv negative, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

Story
Gentle, sweet senior kitty Patty is looking for a loving home where she can spend her remaining time sitting on laps and getting lots of cuddles. She's an affectionate 15-year-old girl, who despite her age, still enjoys play sessions with her foster mom. Patty has early-stage chronic kidney disease, a common and treatable condition in older cats, that is well managed with prescription food, medication, and subcutaneous fluids, all of which she tolerates very well. Patty is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and FeLV/FIV negative.

Story
Jimi has been through a lot in his short 6 years of life. In his former home, he was overfed, became obese, and as a result developed diabetes. His owners abandoned him and his brother, Hendrix, on the streets when they moved. Jimi and Hendrix were placed in a FFOCAS foster home, and thanks to the loving care of his foster mom, Jimi's diabetes went into remission. But sadly, he recently lost his brother and best friend Hendrix, who also had been overfed and became obese, and developed a fatal illness directly related to obesity. Jimi is at a healthy weight, his diabetes is in remission, but now he is adjusting to life without his best feline friend. This super affectionate boy, who greets everyone he meets with purrs and head bunts, needs a special someone or family who can help him recover from the loss of his brother. If you've got lots of love to give and are looking for a cat who will return that love in spades, Jimi is waiting for you.

Story
Mabel is a sweet, playful one-year-old kitty looking for someone to snuggle! This little cat has been through a lot in her young life. She came to us with a hole in the roof of her mouth, and it took three surgeries to successfully close it. But now she's healthy and ready to find her forever home. Mabel's favorite activities include being petted and playing, and when she's given the option of one or the other, she prefers the best of both worlds: batting her toys around, then running over to her foster mom for scratches, then racing back to her toys to play some more, and then doing it all over again. Her favorite toys include anything with a ball or a bell and squeaky mouses, and she's becoming more curious about wand toys. She also loves snacking on a yummy treat, kneading her paws on the closest available human, and being brushed. Mabel adores being with people and greets everyone with chirp-y meows and loud purrs, but when she's alone, she likes napping in her comically oversized dog bed (it'll go to her forever home with her!) and watching the world outside her window from her perch on the cat tree. She's also great at entertaining herself with her toys! Mabel hasn't directly interacted with cats or dogs in her foster home, but she seems very interested in the resident cat in her foster home, and with her easy-going personality, we think she'd do great with other kitties and dogs. Mabel is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and FeLV/FIV negative.

Story
Inky is a sweet boy looking for his forever home! He is approx 5 months old and already neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. His foster is also his finder and was able to take care of getting Inky vetted prior to him coming into our program. He has been with his 4 siblings since he was captured and brought inside at around 8 weeks old. He is FIV/FELV negative and gets along with his siblings well. Inky is not a lap cat but he does enjoy pets and snuggles. He is independent and not particularly bonded to any of his siblings but does play with them and does well with the other adult cats in the home. He would likely do well integrated into a home with another cat with proper introductions. His foster mom says Inky can still be a little cautious so older or cat savvy children would be best. Inky is a great box user and can't wait to find his forever family! If you have any questions about this adorable little cow kitten please reach out!

Story
Akbar is a sweet 7-year-old boy whom I've owned for the last 4 years. He is snuggly, very vocal, loves to play or just lay the day away in your lap or on top of you however he can manage. Unfortunately, as he and my other male cat age, they are getting along less and less, and Akbar has developed a medical issue that despite diagnostics I have been unable to get to the bottom of and am unable to mitigate the symptoms nor afford more diagnostics. He drinks, eats and urinates excessively (but doesn't have accidents outside the litterbox) and is extremely food obsessed to the point of mild destruction, but was also food obsessed prior to this medical issue developing. He is crafty and a high-jumper, and incredibly stubborn, so definitely needs an adopter who is experienced with cats who will do just about anything for a morsel of food. He doesn't mind dogs (usually runs away or ignores them), would do best if other cats were female, and has never bitten, scratched, or swatted a human.

Story
Hi! Meet Salt! Salt is an adorable little tuxedo boy who is dressed to impress! This guy may still be a young but he’s a calm and mellow cat. Don’t get me wrong, he does like to play, but he’s also happy just snuggling and cuddling. He can be just a tad shy at first, but comes out of his shell quickly. He enjoys the company of his sister (Snowflake) and other cats but is content being an only kitty as well. He has very good litter manners and is really great about not destroying the house like most kittens (except when it comes to toilet paper rolls because that temptation is just too much). Please be aware that Salt, like all the Furever Home cats, is FeLV positive. Therefore, he can not live in a household with FeLV negative cats. If you’d like more information about Salt or FeLV, please contact us by calling 301.703.1674 or email FureverHomeMD@gmail.comOctober 25, 2024, 12:13 am

Story
Like all Furever Home cats, Jack is FeLV positive. If you need more information about FeLV, feel free to reach out to us. Meet Jack! This amazing mini-panther is such a sweetheart, and the perfect age. He’s young enough to still love his toys, but old enough so he won’t pull your curtains down and destroy your world. He’s a sweet & cuddly guy who adapts well. He’s very vocal and will have full out conversations with you. He’ll also remind you when you’re late with dinner. He has perfect cat etiquette and uses his litter box. His favorite hobbies include bathing in sunbeams, laying across your shoulders while binging on the Nature Channel, snuggling you in bed and head butting. He may be slightly shy at first, but he warms up quickly. Ziggy is the most adorable petite little purrbox! She is a very young adult who loves to snuggle and play. She’s outgoing and curious and adapts well to new situations. She has impeccable kitty litter habits. She’d do well with (respectful) children and laid back dogs. She loves sunshine beams, playing with toys and napping with her humans. She’s an all around purrfect little girl! Like all cats at Furever Home, Ziggy is FeLV positive. She must be either an only cat or in a home with another FeLV positive cat. Story
Lil (left) and Mijoux (right) are bonded. They are my lap snuggle buddies at night watching TV. They chase each other around the house, give each other face washings and playfully wrestle when I am opening the canned food. Lil (DOB:1/1/2020 ?) was a rescue from Gettysburg, PA. Originally trapped when she was about 3 months old, she was tipped, spayed and microchipped. Lil is very quiet, but does snore sometimes when enjoying a good nap. Mijoux (DOB:5/1/2021) was a rescue from Winchester, WV and has been spayed. Mijoux is the more outgoing of the two and she has helped Lil become less timid. Neither has been outside since I adopted them, but I have put harnesses on them from time to time to get them used to wearing one. Both like to play fetch.

Story
Meet our lovable cat, Francis. He’s around 10 years old and is searching for a forever home where he can share his warmth and affection. Having spent his entire life with one family, he is incredibly loyal and thrives on being petted and cuddled. If you let him, he’ll be a devoted lap cat, loving every moment of close contact. He’s intelligent, gets along well with other cats and kids, and is great with strangers, quickly making new friends. He uses his litter box well, is not picky about litter type or food, but has one request: he prefers a running water cat fountain, as he won’t drink from a stagnant bowl. His only behavioral issue has been scratching furniture, so finding a suitable scratching post that he likes is essential. This affectionate cat needs a home where he will receive the love and attention he craves or another feline friend to keep him company. If you’re ready for a devoted companion who will shower you with affection, he’s eager to meet you!
