Story
Meredith used to be a member of a feral cat colony in Broussard. They have a caretaker that sees to their needs, and they all usually do fairly well there. However, we decided to take in Meredith because she was quite sick and needed to be on medication for multiple weeks. During that time, she's been in a foster home and has adjusted to the house-cat life quite well. She's now completely healthy and ready to find a forever home! Meredith is very much a diva and likes things her way. She's more like a roommate than a pet, to be honest. She can be very vocal when she wants something, usually either food or to go in/out of a specific room. She's not really a cuddley cat, but she does enjoy people's company. You'll often find her napping on the couch next to her foster parents while they're watching TV. The best way to win over Meredith's heart is through food - any kind of treats will do. You can also always count on her to join you in the kitchen when you're cooking food or sitting down for a meal. Meredith absolutely adores other cats and loves to play with the other foster kittens. Because of this, we'd love to see her go to a home that already has one or more friendly cats, but she'd probably be fine as an only child too. She's currently living with three large dogs and gets along with them quite well as long as they respect her personal space. Please consider letting Meredith join your family! *** If you'd like to make this pet part of your family, please fill out an online application today: https://form.jotform.com/211746872887169 *** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Would you like to help us with the financial cost of the pets in our care? Crackle was found all alone on the streets. His wounds suggest he may have fallen out of a car engine. He's a feisty little guy who loves to "talk" and play, but he also enjoys snuggling with his foster humans and feline foster brother. Great with kids & dogs too! *** If you'd like to make this pet part of your family, please fill out an online application today: https://tinyurl.com/adoptcatform *** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Would you like to help us with the financial cost of the pets in our care? Story
Kaleidoscope was named for the beautiful and unique patterns on her fur that resemble the shapes seen in a kaleidoscope, but her foster parents mostly just call her Kallie for short. She’s an incredibly sweet, affectionate, and spunky young cat. She wasn’t always like this though… When she first came to us, Kallie was incredibly weak and emaciated. She had all of her adult teeth, so the vet estimated her age to be about 5-6 months old at that time, but she only weighed 2.5lbs! She should’ve been at least twice that size. Since her arrival, Kallie has been healing and growing amazingly well. She’s still on the small side, but her health is back up to par. What she lacks in size, she makes up for in personality! Kallie is super spunky and loves to be the center of attention. She follows her foster parents around like a shadow and is always in the mood to either play or cuddle. She gets along very well with the other cats and dogs in the house. Her only downside is that she has a tendency to play pretty rough, so a home with no small children is recommended. Story
Zeniba (or just Zen as her foster parents call her) is a sweet, happy-go-lucky kinda girl. We like to say that she rescued herself, because she found one of our volunteers after being left in a parking lot all alone. As soon as she saw a human, she ran up to them and meowed her little head off to get their attention. It was as if she knew that was the right person to save her. Since then, she’s been in a foster home and has been loving the indoor-cat life! Her favorite thing in the world is canned cat food. Zen also loves toys and playing with the other cats in the house. We’d ideally like for her to go to a home where there’s at least one other cat for her to befriend. She is fine with calm dogs too as long as they know to respect her personal boundaries. Story
Ham is a cat that lives up to his name! He’s an absolute ham in every sense of the word! He’s a big boy that loves to be held like a baby, sleep in his foster parent’s arms every night, and cuddle in their laps while they work on the computer or watch TV on the couch. Ham had a rough start in life. He and a few dozen other cats were rescued from a hoarding situation in November of 2022. They were all being kept in a broken-down RV that didn’t have any running water or electricity. The caretaker was feeding them beans and rice to survive off of. Despite this, Ham’s spirit was never broken! He’s been a happy sweet boy from Day 1 and seems to greatly appreciate the spoiled life he has now with his foster family. He does well with dogs and female cats (he’s picky about which boy cats he wants to make friends with). Ham does have a condition called stomatitis which can cause some irritation around his teeth and gums. We got his teeth cleaned and tended to very recently, and the vet’s given the OK for him to be adopted out. He’s not in pain and he can eat perfectly fine. It is recommended that all cats get yearly dental work, but it’s extra important that Ham’s future family stays on top of this.
