Story
Mittens is 2 yrs old but she still looks like she is about 5 months old. She is so cute and is very loving and gentle. She is definitely a lap kitty but doesn't really like to be held. My neighbors found her 2yrs ago when she was around 8 weeks old, and they kept her in the house until July and now they have abandoned her. I love her so much, but I'm older with poor health and already have one older cat who doesn't like to be around other cats. I want to find a loving, forever, inside only home for Mittens in a non smoking home. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. 502-294-0913

Story
Background: Summer was trapped with her 4 siblings in November of 2021 at just 6 weeks old, her momma had been living in our directors back yard and we had assumed they were all fixed until Summer and her siblings popped out, after that all adults were quickly trapped, fixed, and returned to their outdoor homes where we continue to care for them, and the 4 kittens were taken into our rescue. Since then 1 sibling has sadly passed away, and the other two were happily adopted. Summer had an unfortunate trial adoption at a few months old that went badly, and led to trauma and a fear of humans and carriers (to no fault of the trial adopter, Summer just wasn't ready yet, and that is our fault for trying to push her through adoption before she was ready to go.) Bio: Summer is very shy, she does not warm up to people quickly, and for the majority of the time, does not want to be touched. She does like other cats, but can be a bit hissy at first, given a proper introduction she should be just fine. She loves to play, and spends most of her time sleeping in our windows and enjoying the sun. The perfect adopter for Summer would be someone that understands she needs her space. She has taken to sleeping on our desk behind the laptops, and will usually let me pet her there, but trying to approach her normally startles her and she will run away. One of Summers best friends here is Mosaic, another shy/ semi-feral girl. ideally, we would like the girls to go to a home together, to someone who is patient and understanding of their need for space, because of this, we have listed them as a bonded pair. Most likely, a meet and greet wont be easy to accomplish for the girls, as they tend to run and hide any time we have company. However if someone is extremely interested in these sweet, complex girls, i will figure out a way to make it so you can see them. These two are not your normal lovey cats, while both do enjoy being pet, they do not enjoy being approached, and may never be snuggly, however they are just as worthy of a loving forever home as any of our other more sociably cats and kittens. Summer does not like dogs, and will not be able to go to a home with dogs. Description and Medical Info: Summer is a small but chubby tortoiseshell tabby with white paws and green eyes. She was spayed and vaccinated at HOPE Spay and Neuter Clinic on 3/4/22, her shots were last updated on 10/20/23, and she was given a 90 day Bravecto flea, tick, and worm. she will be given another as soon as we are able to procure one from our vet, and we recommend any future adopters keep her on Bravecto 90 day as it is less stress for her. She does occasionally have vomiting spells, we have been unable to discern what cause these, however our treatment is to give her some wet food mixed with pumpkin puree if she cant keep food or water down, and that seems to fix it. We assume she just has a sensitive stomach. Her estimated birthday is 9/23/21

Story
Background: Cheddar is a orange male around 3-5 years old from what we can tell. In May 2022, he was abandoned in a hotel room. The hotel staff tried many times to contact the people who left him to no avail. We immediately took him in when the hotel called us, and he's been with us ever since with absolutely no applications. Bio: This sweet boy is extremely playful and lovey, his favorite activity is bird watching and will often spend hours looking out the window of his foster home watching all the birds. He requires a lot of mental stimulation and attention, without it he does tend to nip. As they say, a bored kitty is a naughty kitty. Cheddar does not get along with other cats or dogs, at least not well, he has been getting better with cats, and given a proper introduction, he may coexist well with one. He currently resides in his fosters bedroom, we would love to be able to give him a home with more room to run around and play as he does need a lot of things to do when he isn't snuggled up with you. Cheddar is just a big sweetheart (and he is BIG) and all we could ever want for him is a stable forever home where he can watch birds and play. Due to his tendency to nip when bored, we do not recommend he go to a home with small children, as we would hate for him to accidentally hurt someone. He will require daily play time or dedicated attention, his personal favorite toy so far is a fuzzy worm on a string, and lots of things to keep him occupied (tunnels, cat trees, toys, windows to look out of.) When he is ready to settle down, he loves to lay in your lap for hours and take a nice long nap. Description and Medical Info: Cheddar is a large orange boy with yellow eyes. He was already neutered when he came to us, however we have been keeping his vaccines updated yearly. His last vaccinations were given at Central Kentucky Animal Clinic. As of updating this, his vaccines are current. and will be due in June of 2024.

Story
Background: Aspen and his siblings were rescued by another shelter before being transferred to us here at TKW. They arrived at that shelter infested with fleas and badly needing a vet checkup. After arriving here with us, we got them flea treated and checked out, and now they have been fixed and vaccinated and are ready for forever homes! I have no background on the kind of situation they originally came from unfortunately, but they are safe and happy now, and that's all that matters! Bio: Aspen is a sweet, shy, little guy that you very rarely see apart from his brother Hawthorn, unless he is romping around with Pebble. He is silky smooth, and very quiet, unless its dinner time and then he likes to tell you that you aren't going fast enough! He loves to play, groom his brother while they snuggle, and is very often seen wrestling with Hawthorn or Pebble. Him and Hawthorn are the perfect pair, he is the calm to Hawthorns crazy. We believe the boys would do just fine with a dog, given that the dog is calmer and not prone to chasing cats. We would recommend adopting both Aspen and Hawthorn, as while they aren't bonded to the point of anxiety when apart, they do have a very special relationship and it is adorable to witness. Visual Description and Medical Info: Aspen is a silky brown tabby with a heart tattoo in one ear from his neuter. His estimated birthday is 9/7/23. He was neutered on 1/4/24, where he also received his FVRCP and rabies vaccines. he was given a clear bill of health by his vet, including a negative snap test. He was neutered at Nelson County Humane Society, and was seen at Bourbon City Animal Hospital for his initial vet checkup. Aspen was diagnosed with Pemphigus Foliaceus on 3/20/2024. Pemphigus Foliaceus is an autoimmune condition that causes scabbing on his ears, nose, and in his claw folds. It is treated very easily and inexpensively with prednisolone tablets, he is very good about taking his meds as long as he is given some churu afterwards, he will even remind you to do it so he gets his treat! He does not need medicine all the time, only when he is in an active flare. There is no telling how often these flares will happen, he has had two so far, once when he was diagnosed, and again in April of 2024. He does get some pain when in flares, and we manage this with liquid gabapentin, which is also inexpensive. If you are interested in this sweet pair of brothers, but tentative about managing Aspens condition, please reach out and ask questions, we are more than happy to answer!

I have no background on the kind of situation they originally came from unfortunately, but they are safe and happy now, and that's all that matters! Bio: Hawthorn is a scruffy little dude who loves to squeak at you and growl while he eats. His favorite pass times are snuggling, wrestling with his fellow kittens, and trying desperately to steal your food.... we have attempted to fix this particular behavior, unfortunately Hawthorn is also INCREDIBLY stubborn, so we haven't managed to fix it yet. Like both his siblings, he is incredibly sweet and affectionate, this trio is truly a joy to care for and will be amazing companions. Like his brother, he doesn't love dogs, and mostly just ignores ours provided the pup also ignores him. We believe he would be fine with a dog, provided they don't like to chase cats. Story
Background: Mosaic was a outdoor feral cat at a relatives house, once we relocated to Kentucky in 2020, we got to helping with TNR for this relatives outdoor cats. Unfortunately, Mosaic gave birth to her first litter of kittens prematurely at just 7 months old, three days before her spay appointment, where she promptly rejected them, and we were unable to save them. Since then she was been an indoor cat, and she has slowly opened up to where we no longer consider her feral, and just shy or semi-feral. Bio: Mosaic is sweet but very timid, if you can get her to come to you for attention, she will purr and roll around as you pet her, however she does not like to be approached. She's a great conversationalist and loves to talk to you, and if you're lucky she'll hop up on the couch and lay next to you at a respectful distance. i believe given time, she may become more friendly, however it isn't something i would count on. Her and Summer get along great, and i believe they would be a great match given their similar personalities. She is not good with dogs, but does like other cats. Visual Description and Medical Info: Mosaic is a white cat with a dilute calico tail, she has a heart tattoo in her ear from being spayed at Nelson County Humane society on 6/2/2020, she needs her shots updated and this will be done before any adoption. We have not wanted to stress her with the vet visit however it it more than past time. Her estimated Birthday is 11/28/2019.
