Story
Iris is a sweet girl who gets along with other cats after an adjustment period. She has lived with other cats and a dog. She doesn’t mind kids and just loves having a window to look out of and blankets to cuddle up in. She isn’t very talkative but will chirp when something catches her eye.

Story
Daisy is a very sweet, loving, and loyal pet. She likes human interaction and being close to people. She is 4 years old and will be 5 this coming June. Rehoming her is a very hard decision for me but due to how anxious it makes her when I am not around I am unable to provide what she needs. She is very healthy and talkative. I have had her since she was a month old.

HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org or Carol at cgriglione@arl-iowa.org. ---- Beautiful cat that welcomes attention and pets, on her terms- She really likes being held and will purr up a storm - but will let you know when she wants down- Her ideal home will be calmer and on the quiet side- Likes to roll around on the floor and show off her agility!- She will pick up her cat toys in her mouth, and meow for you to come up and play with her, and also likes to bat at dangly cat toys- Enjoys her spa time while laying in the bathroon sink in her foster home!- Looking for a home with patient family members who will give her time to open up and let her take things at her own pace- Young children are not a good fit for her - she is looking for a home with adults only- Will need a slow introduction to any cats in her new home - she can co-exist with them, but may be happiest as your one and only- Her ideal adopter is a cat-savvy person who wants a independent cat with a lot of character to love and care forThis cat has shown signs of overstimulation while in the shelter. Lots of handling, playing with hands, and excessive petting can cause them to overstimulate, which can result in scratching and/or biting. This cat is looking for experienced cat owners who will watch this cat's body language while interacting to note signs of overstimulation (tail waving, fur rippling, dilated pupils, ears turned back and quick body movements) and be willing to respect their boundaries. This cat will also benefit from interactive toys such as wands and ball spinners while playing. We are happy to speak with you more when you visit and can provide post-adoption resources. If you can give this cat mental stimulation, patience and space when they need it, please consider adopting! To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org or Carol at cgriglione@arl-iowa.org.---- Laid back, independent and sometimes shy girl who enjoys being with her humans- Enjoys sleeping with her humans almost every night, but she is not a super cuddly cat- Loves scratches on her head, neck, ears and chin- When she is extra comfortable, she loves to show her belly, and she actually loves belly pets and armpit scratches!-She's an early morning girl (probably because that is breakfast time) and she's chirpy and vocal when her humans are up early - Enjoys playing with toy balls, laser pointers, catnip and feather toys on strings and little mouse toys to hunt - Loves to climb up high in her kitty tree - she can climb really fast, and in general she is very fast, especially for her size - the top of the kitty tree, in the sunny window is her favorite spot- She likes to use scratching posts (carpet, cardboard, and rope are all good)- Is not a fan of other animals, and needs to be the only pet in her new home - Young, noisy or busy children are too much for her, so she's looking for a mature home that's calm and predictable- Will thrive in a peaceful, quiet home with one or two people who want a fun, delightfully grumpy, casual cat companion to love and care forThis cat has shown signs of overstimulation while in the shelter. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org or Carol at cgriglione@arl-iowa.org.---- Very active and playful kitty who will do best in a home where someone will play with her often - Likes playing with all kinds of cat toys, especially wand toys; will play fetch with ball toys!- Friendly and likes a lot of attention, but prefers affection on her terms; will often brush up against your leg or hand- Not a fan of other cats and will be happiest as your one and only; if you do have another cat, a very slow introduction will be necessary to set her up for success- Will occasionally sit in your lap or cuddle with you on the couch or in bed at night - Good at communicating through body language; looking for a cat-savvy home where all family members are mature enough to understand and respect her signals- Doesn't have tolerance for young, noisy or busy children, so she's looking for a calm, predictable home with mature family members- Often rubs or playfully pounces on legs and feet while you are walking, so she likely is not a good fit for a household that includes people with mobility issues - Has a strong preference for wet food, but will nibble on dry food left out in between meals; enjoys the water fountain in her foster home, but also drinks from a bowl- Overall has a quirky personality and it might take a little time for her and her humans to get used to each other, but she is definitely worth it and would make a wonderful addition to the familyThis cat has shown signs of overstimulation while in the shelter. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org or Carol at cgriglione@arl-iowa.org.---- An extremely sweet, lovable cat who welcomes attention- Is very playful and enjoys his cat toys- A serious cuddle buddy and lap cat- Enjoys sleeping with his humans- Has lived with other cats and did well with them- He is very friendly to quiet adult visitors after observing for awhile from afar- Is afraid of the sound of plastic bags or garbage bags- Young, noisy or busy children are too much for him, so he's looking for a mature home that's calm and predictable- Looking for a patient adopter who will give him time to settle into his new home on his terms; he will likely be shy and hide for a few days until he realizes he is safe and loved- Will be a wonderful friend for a calm, patient person who loves the quiet life just like he does- Has lots of love to give once he has settled into his new home and is ready to live the good life he has always deserved- This cat has been diagnosed with diabetes and is currently receiving daily insulin injections and eating a prescription cat food.
