Story
MazzyBelieve it or not, cats don't always get to keep their name. Mazzy is my second name. My first owner called me Cookie, but she surrendered me in 2021 when I was 4-years-old because she hadn't enough time for me. I was soon adopted, given a new name, and lived with this owner for 3+ years. Because his landlord objected to me living with him, I returned to HSHC in August 2024. Luckily, I moved into a Roaming Room with five or six other cats, and I love it! I am now 9-years-old and a smidge on the chunky side. I was happy the interviewer lady (IL) visited our room. I rubbed against her hand so she would continue petting me. I was mesmerized by the ear rubs she gave me. The IL told me I was a beautiful dark brown Tabby girl with a white bib, white paws, and striking green eyes. I agreed with her that I could use a good brushing, a healthy diet, and some TLC. I've lived with young kids in the past but never with other cats or dogs. However, look how well I am getting along with my Roaming Roommates! I almost forgot to tell you that I am already spayed and good at using the litterbox. I need some love and care; I'm sure you can provide that. I know you can provide me with another new name! 10-15-24

Story
ScarletWhen I was first surrendered to HSHC, I was an 8-month-old Calico kitten. My owner was moving but not taking me along. After only a week, I got adopted, and life was good! I lived with my new owner for two years before allergies in the family resulted in me returning to the HSHC. Because I was so distraught at being in the shelter, I went to live with a foster mom. I am now 3-years-old and so grateful for my time in a home. My first reaction to new things and people is to be fearful and hiss. My foster mom said it took me about a week to get comfortable enough to stop hiding and hissing. By mid-April, I would rub against her, jump into her lap, settle down, and purr. As long as I feel I know a person, I am an affectionate little girl. Based on how safe I feel, I have a cuddly side to my personality. However, to ensure I remain comfortable in a home, all family members need to be 18 or older. I used my litterbox very well in my foster home. When the interviewer lady visited me, my first reaction was to hiss. However, the more time spent with me results in a sweet, loveable kitty. If you have the time, I have the desire to move in with you! 5-30-24

My foster mom says I’m sucker for belly rubs and love attention. I also enjoy playing with my brother, Nox, and the little foster kittens in my home. When I'm not playing or getting belly rubs, you can find me bird-watching from the window—it's one of my favorite ways to relax.  I’m a super sweet guy, though I can get a little nervous in new situations, especially at the vet's office. I do have a heart murmur, but don’t worry! A specialist checked me out, and I’m doing great. The murmur doesn’t need any medical treatment, just an annual check-up (which I could do without!). Other than that, I’m a strong, healthy kitty.  My birthday is around March 22, 2022, so I’m still young and full of life. If you're looking for a sweet companion who loves to play and relax, I might be the perfect match for you!     If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please complete the online Adoption Application.  If you would like to donate to this pet's care, please click here. Look no further than Nox, the male orange tabby who is winning hearts with his sweet and laid back nature. Nox has Feline Atopic Skin Syndrome, an allergy that requires special care and attention. But don't let that deter you from adopting him, as he is currently receiving medication and going to a pet allergy specialist to get tested. With the hope of ending his allergy issues, Nox is a sweet kitty who deserves a loving home. He enjoys bird watching and belly rubs, and his allergy is not food-related, so he can enjoy treats like any other cat. Story
SweaterBelieve it or not, I arrived at HSHC in August 2023 as a stray 3-month-old kitten. I was what they call "undersocialized," meaning I demonstrated fearful behavior 100% of the time. However, I've made significant progress since then, living in my foster home since October 2023. Now, as a 1-year-old cat, I feel safe and comfortable. My foster mom wants you to know this about me:Sweater plays and allows himself to be held and petted. When we returned home from the shelter, he did a quick lap around the apartment and settled into my lap for many pets. I am happy to report that he has resumed his normal behavior, a clear sign of his progress. Since having his nails trimmed, he is not clawing as much and is displaying more affectionate behavior. He is eating/drinking well and pottying like normal. He has shown renewed interest in his bird-watching perch and his toys. Since returning home, he has slept at the foot of my bed at night and seems happy to resume his routine. My foster mom says I would not be a good pet for children under 18 due to my "short fuse!" I will thrive with an experienced cat person who understands scared cats like me. It's nearly "sweater weather"! How about adopting me? 8-26-24

I came from an area where people drop off cats and kittens in the country. If you have never had a black cat before, you might be in for a treat. Black cats are not only beautiful, but we have great personalities. I am a sweet girl who is ready for a home of her own. I am playful and lots of fun. I will be a great companion for you. I'm Khaki and I'm such a cute little girl with ears that stay a little flat. That doesn't mean I'm mad! I was just made that way! Me and my sisters came from a barn in Elwood IN! I am a professional biscuit maker and love to suckle my fleece blanky. I love pets and baby talk too! I would love a forever home and if you would let my skitzy sister, Spicie, come with me that would be a bonus! Let me know what your heart says! I've been waiting almost a year for my people to find us!

I'm Spicie but I'm not really spicey, I'm just a timid girl that was caught from a barn in Elwood IN. My sisters got scooped up a week or two earlier and I was left all alone out there! I have been hanging with my sister, Khaki, for almost the last year waiting for our people to find us. I wonder if you could give me a chance to just live in your home and also take my great sis Khaki as a bonus! That would mean so much to us!

Story
Charlie was an outside cat and taken care of by a nice older lady. After he got bigger, she worried about him getting hit by a car so she had some neighbors reach out to our rescue. Charlie is a very sweet guy! He is a fan of lots of lovin, and will rub his head real hard on your face when he is getting lots of pets! He will take a few days to get used to your house and the his new pet family. Charlie has very mild cerebellar hypoplasia but it hasn't held him back from using the litter box like a pro and he has a great appetite! He keeps up with his cat and dog friends at his foster home! If you have the heart to let this affectionate guy in apply for him today! https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/POMH-A-3288 MY CARE HAS BEEN SPONSORED BY JAMES CONNER

Frieze has been in a foster home since the beginning of April has done a great job raising her kittens. She has warmed up nicely to her foster mom and her new surroundings. She enjoys having a covered place to rest and she seeks out pets and affection. She loves to to rub on her kittens, furniture or your legs! She enjoys having her ears rubbed and being brushed. Story
Please meet Sunny! He was found on a very cold day last January covered in fleas and completely emaciated. He was so thankful for food in his belly and a warm place to sleep that he purred nonstop for days! Sunny was adopted in February and through no fault of his own, he was recently returned to Paws on my Heart Rescue. After several months of lavish meals and a pampered indoor life, Sunny is now a healthy almost 20 pound kitty! He can get playful with the laser pointer, however, he is mostly over the kitten craziness. He loves to look outside in between naps and snacks. It's hard to know exactly how old Sunny is, but our guess is 4-7 years old. He does well with dogs and kids that respect his space. He has impeccable little box skills. Sunny is so very loved at his foster home, but he is so very deserving of his forever home. Sunny is positive for feline leukemia, so he will need to go to a home without other kitties or a home with another feline positive kitty.
