Story
ABOUT HAZEL Meet Hazel, our funny little gremlin! This kooky lady came to us after her owners were unable to manage her medical issues. Hazel had a bit of a rough start here, she was NOT pleased being confined, but she settled in quickly and let her personality shine! Hazel is a true character! She is the Queen Bee and the biggest diva of them all! She likes what she likes, and she'll let you know what displeases her. She loves to play and loves to snuggle, she's a true lap cat! She allows you to dress her up, though she will only allow that in small doses. She enjoys going for walks in her stroller, as well. Hazel has been in a foster home before, here's what her foster has to say about her: "She is still as sweet as can be!! I sleep in her room 1-2 nights a week so that she can enjoy nighttime cuddles. She has seen my cats and the majority of the time she doesn't mind them. A few times she has hissed at them/back at them. Over the holiday, she was able to meet my nieces and nephew and did really well! She just loves attention!! Her newest thing is asking for belly rubs!" **Hazel has skin allergies, which are currently managed by a special diet and medication. If not managed, this allergy causes her to break out into a super itchy rash. She MUST stay on her special diet and medication unless otherwise directed by your vet. *Hazel has recently decided that she would be comfortable sharing a home with other kitties, though she does need a slow introduction and a home with calmer cats! We aren't sure how she'd do with a dog, but we assume she would bully them. Once in a home, she does super well with children and new people, though she can be a little grumpy during transitions. If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific cat but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! We may require all household members, including children, to come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, and a small bag of food to get you started.

ABOUT OPAL! Meet Opal, our beautiful three-year-old lady! This pretty girl came to us after her owner's were unable to care for her. While this can be a big change, she's adjusted quite well! Opal is a big lover girl! She loves to hang out with her human friends and snuggle up next to them. While she is much more of a lover than a player, she has been know to bat around a jingle ball or chase a string toy! *Opal isn't the biggest fan of other cats, and we aren't sure how she'd do with dogs. We do think she'd do fine with children, though! **If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! ABOUT SMOKEY AND BANDIT! Meet Smokey and Bandit, our two-year-old sisters! These girls came to HAP from a hoarding case, so this has been a big change for them. They have started to settle in, though! Smokey is the more outgoing of the two, though she can be shy at first. She enjoys playing, so she can usually be won over by some playtime! Bandit tends to be more of the observer, she likes to hang back on the sidelines while her sister takes the lead. After some time, they are both super sweet girls who love to hang out with their people friends! *Smokey and Bandit both do well with other cats, but we recommend they go to a home with no dogs and no children. **If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! ABOUT APPLE AND JAX! Meet Apple and Jax, our brother/sister duo! These cuties came to HAP from a hoarding case, so they had tough time adjusting to shelter life. Because of this, we decided to send them to one of our awesome fosters, so they could decompress and learn to be a cat again. Now they're back in the shelter and ready to find their forever home! Apple is the more out going of the two, she's a real socialite! She loves other cats, and has done wonders getting the shy kitties out of their shells! She does have a bit of sass, and loves to greet her people friends with a quick hiss, before she allows them to give her some love! Jax is a quiet boy, who mostly follows his sister's lead! He likes to watch what's happening before deciding on joining in. He's a real lovebug once he warms up to people! *Apple is on prescription urinary food, as she has had issues with crystals forming before. We also give Jax the same, just because they tend to share each other's dinner! **Apple and Jax both get along well with other cats, but we don't recommend they go home to dogs or young children, as they can be timid. *** If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. Story
DEXTER & HENRY (Henry has been adopted) These sweet kittens were in the process of having their mom desperately relocate them along with their other two siblings to avoid being run over by a lawn mower. Someone witnessed what was happening and called us one night, so we picked them up and gave them to fosters. Mom cat is FIV + and passed it on to Dexter and Henry, but there is a chance they will become negative as they grow older. FIV + cats can safely coexist with other cats and live long and healthy lives. Dexter (Tabby Kitten) is one of the friendliest kittens ever. He seeks out his people often and will trill greetings then wait for pets while rolling around and purring. You can feel the love pouring out of him! He is gentle and really enjoys people, other cats, and dogs as he is extremely social, playful; and energetic! Dexter is very laid back and doesn’t let anything bother him! Henry (Black Kitten) is a love bug and is also very social, playful, and energetic! He is always purring and loves being where the action is! Sometimes he will curl up on top of you in bed for a little snuggle. He is friendly and definitely lets you know when he wants attention! Henry gets along with other cats and dogs. These two brothers would be a great match if looking to adopt two! Dexter and Henry are neutered, vaccinated for rabies and FVRCP, flea and worm treated, and negative for feline leukemia. *ONLY BART AVAILABLE* These two siblings were saved from the street. Bart is a sweet boy who is shy and needs a little encouragement to help him out of his shell. He is almost always purring! Bart loves playing with toys with his human or kitty friends. Lisa (no longer available) is a little shy with new people at first but when she gets to know you she will crack you up with her antics during playtime. She is a playful and energetic girl. Both Bart and Lisa get along with other cats but we aren’t sure about dogs yet. Both kittens are negative for FIV and feline leukemia, spayed/neutered, flea and worm treated, and vaccinated against rabies and FVRCP. Ideally these two cuties should be adopted together. They are waiting patiently for their furever home! If interested in adopting Bart and Lisa, please fill out an application at Castawaycatsde.com.
