Story
Emanuel came to us as a rescue transfer where he was trapped outside. Emanuel prefers to stay on the cat walk and watch the action of the room. Emanuel doesn't really like people but he LOVES to play, so while he might not be a lap cat anytime soon he could provide hours of enjoyment to the right family that is willing to be patient with him. Emanuel is estimated 6 years old, neutered, UTD on vaccinations, FIV/FELV NEGATIVE and microchipped. If you are interested in Emanuel, please fill out a feline adoption application on our website, https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=meridenhumanesociety&method=online_form_html&formid=28

Story
Valor is one of our longest kitty residents and has spent most of his life with us. He came with three kitty siblings, all of whom have long since gone to their homes. Valor can be described as cautious and independent. People have not quite earned his trust. However, Valor hasn't met a wand toy he can resist and our volunteers can sneak some pets in with the help of baby food or squeeze up treats. Valor has come a long way but still needs a family that appreciates his independent spirit. Valor would love a kitty companion or two in his new home. Valor is estimated 5 years old, UTD on vaccinations, neutered, FIV/FELV NEGATIVE and micro chipped. Story
I mustache you a question.. will you adopt Stache? Meet our girl, Stache! This young adult beauty is ready to join your family. Stache was found outside as a kitten and was rescued. Due to this, she is on the shy side and will need a patient hand to help her blossom into a fan-stache-tic cat. She is treat motivated and likes other cats! Stache has her whole life ahead of her and needs someone to take a chance and work with her. We think she will do best in a quiet home with a confident kitty who she could learn from. She needs an owner who will commit to working with her slowly to help improve her trust and confidence.Stache is UTD on all vaccinations, NEG/NEG for FIV/FELV, microchipped and spayed. Apply on our website for her today!https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=meridenhumanesociety&method=online_form_html&formid=28

Story
Of all of our kitties, Bailey has been here the longest! He is almost 11 years old and has been at our shelter for about 8 years.Bailey is shy in that he doesn't want to be pet or picked up, but he will come right over for food and will even eat squeeze ups or baby food directly from your hand. We would like Bailey to go home to a patient adopter who will let him blossom slowly but also be OK if he doesn't ever become a lap cat. We would like you to meet with Bailey a couple of times before adopting him to make sure he is comfortable with you. Bailey loves other cats so we will only consider adopting him to a home with other kitties or if you would like to adopt a pair from us.Bailey is neutered, UTD on vaccinations and FIV/FELV NEGATIVE.If you are interested please fill out a feline adoption application at https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=meridenhumanesociety&method=online_form_html&formid=26

Story
Charcoal came to us trapped as a stray. While in a foster home, she made some progress in socialization but will require more post-adoption. Charcoal prefers to be in the company of other cats and her ideal owner would need to have experience in socializing to help her relax. She's not a mean cat, but she is unlikely to be a lap cat anytime soon. She enjoys having a window to look outside and a nice soft bed to cuddle in. Charcoal is an adult female, UTD on vaccinations, spayed, FIV/FELV NEGATIVE and would be micro chipped before adoption. If you are interested in Charcoal, please fill out a feline adoption application through our website:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=meridenhumanesociety&method=online_form_html&formid=26

Story
Poor Bogart's life is a complete mystery. He was found outdoors with urine stains/burns which left his entire lower half of his body raw. He will require a patient and gentle owner who is willing to work with him to bring out his true colors. With time Bogart could possibly adjust to a home setting. It is unlikely Bogart will ever be a lap cat but he is a beautiful boy that still deserves a home, preferably with another kitty because he likes to cuddle (just not humans). He does not want pets or human contact at this time, but he licks a smooth bisque type food or a squeeze up.Due to his life on the streets, Bogart tested FIV POSITIVE. FIV+ does NOT require daily medications nor impact his quality of life. Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is ONLY passed through deep bite wounds between cats and cannot be passed to other animal species or humans. FIV kitties can live with, share food bowls, litter boxes, groom and wrestle with non FIV housemates with no risk of transmission. However Bogart does have a history of stomatitis and gets daily medication for that, a low cost steroid and a pain medication in liquid form. Bogart is a trip to medicate! We recommend a thick glove and a gentle hand, you can slowly sneak the oral syringe into his mouth like an airplane but there is a chance he will give you a smack for your troubles.Bogart is estimated to be around 5 years old, UTD on vaccinations, neutered and FIV POSITIVE and FELV NEGATIVE.If you are interested in Bogart and want to give him a chance, please fill out a feline adoption application on our website, https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=meridenhumanesociety&method=online_form_html&formid=28. We would ask that folks interested in Bogart meet with him a couple times to make sure you know his personality before taking him home.

Story
Albert is....uh.... Albert. He can be sweet, loving and purring one minute, then hissing the next. We think he is insecure at the shelter and little things upset him. He is scheduled for neutering in a month and hopefully that will steady his mood swings. Please consider him as long as no small children in the house that may not understand his mood swings. Story
Meet momma Mona. She gave birth in a warehouse and a nice man found her and started feeding her. She is very healthy and very happy and very friendly. Mona has a little sag in her right eye but we don't see any reason for it so we assume it's from an old injury and it causes her zero problems. We think she is probably only about a year old herself and she gave birth at the end of April or beginning of May. Mona is fully vetted and ready to travel.. Mona is super friendly and loving and gets along with other cats as well. if you are interested in adopting please visit Funnyfarmpets.org to read all about our Tennessee based rescue and how the adoption and transport process works. These babies are currently fostered in Tennessee and won't travel until their vetting is completed. The adoption fee is $165. If transport is required that adds an additional $115 The link to the application is https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FFRR/Cat

Story
Ricky is shy at first, but has a warm soft heart that craves love and pats. He’s been through a lot, including an injury to one eye, but he wants very much to trust again if someone will give him the chance. He’s a big boy, ready with a lovely deep purr once he’s comfortable, and a funny, quiet squeaky meow. We love his adorable pink nose and tuxedo jacket—he’s dressed for any occasion. He acts the dignified gentleman, but when the wand comes out he shows that he still has a kittenish side. Even when alone in a room, he will dig toys out of his box and bat them around.

Not good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Freddie was found as a stray with multiple bite wounds on his body. Because of his wounds he needed to be isolated for a very long time. He is now ready for a home and is very anxious because he is still in the shelter. He really wants out!! He is a bit nervous but loves to be petted once he trusts you. He will need a quiet home with a patient person who will give him time to adjust. He would be great in a home as an only cat. Freddie does have FIV but FIV cats can live just as long as any cat without FIV.

Story
Mint was trapped outside with his siblings and made some socialization progress in foster care. Mint is taking his own pace in making friends with us but with the help of his kitty friends he has started to become more comfortable and curious! With continued socialization, we know Mint could blossom into a spoiled pet. We best believe Mint would do best in a home with no children and would have to have a feline companion(s) to show him the ropes. Mint is a young adult, neutered, UTD on vaccinations, FIV/FELV NEGATIVE and microchipped.
