Story
Meet Blackberry, a sweet, shy cat who will warm your heart like a freshly baked muffin!   Despite her shyness, Blackberry is a very loving cat. As she’s gotten more confident in her foster home, Blackberry has learned to love head and ear scratches and will flop over on the floor to fully enjoy them, exposing her cute little belly. She’s cautious with new people at first, but her natural curiosity almost always wins over—especially if treats are involved! It may take her some time to adjust to a new home, so she needs a patient adopter who is willing to allow her time to get comfortable in a new space. Blackberry has excellent litter box habits and is a very good eater, though she can be demanding for food at times.   Blackberry is also very energetic and loves to bat around a fuzzy mouse toy on her own. She hasn’t gotten used to handheld wand toys and strings yet, and loud noises can cause her to startle. After playtime, she’ll curl up for a quality napping session nearby. She likes to sleep near where people are and will also often seek out a cozy spot to curl up near her foster, like at the edge of the bed or in the corner of the sofa. Close enough to keep an eye on things!   With some patience and love, Blackberry is sure to become your new best friend. If you’re looking for a cat who will fill your heart and your home with love like a slice of blackberry pie, Blackberry is the perfect choice. She’s simply irresistible!    Blackberry is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, and tested negative for FIV and FeLV. If you’re interested in setting up a meeting with Blackberry, or have more questions, please complete our Adoption Inquiry form!   Best Match:  Seeking an adopter with some cat experience Could join a calm home with cat savvy older kids and teens Prefers a quiet home July 3, 2024, 4:44 pm

Story
Cutie Kiki is always ready to play. Get out the wand toys and she will entertain you by stalking, scrambling, and jumping after them. A toy mouse tossed down the hall will send her running and a bit of tissue paper provides loads of fun. If she pauses for a drink, you’ll be amused by the cute way she scoops the water from her bowl with a paw. Mid-game, she might roll on her back and give you a glimpse of her belly. Play is clearly the way to this shy cat’s heart.   When playtime is over, Kiki prefers to keep a bit of distance. She enjoys chin scratches, but is less enthusiastic about pets on her back. She may not be a lap cat yet, but she does like to be near her person. She has synced to her foster’s daily schedule and sleeps at the end of her bed. If you’re working from home, Kiki might hang out on your desk and ask for occasional pets. She’ll even meet you at the door when you come home.   Kiki approaches new people and situations with caution and may need some time to feel comfortable in a new home. Patience and plenty of playtime will be a winning combination as you get to know each other. Once you earn Kiki’s trust, you’ll have a sweet companion who brings plenty of fun into your life.   Kiki is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested negative for FeLV and FIV. If you are interested in setting up a meeting or have more questions, please complete our Adoption Inquiry form !    Best Match: Seeking an adopter with cat experience Will be most comfortable in a quiet home with kids 12+ May be okay with other cats July 3, 2024, 4:44 pm

Story
Sometimes what you really need is a classic cat. Esmerelda is old school - a gray tabby who loves playing with string, but disdains newfangled toys and entertainments. Hearkening back to the classic cats you may have grown up with, she'd prefer you look at but not touch her belly - an action she discourages without biting or scratching.    Generally very mellow, Esmerelda tends to get the zoomies after using her litter box. It is after these zoomies that she is most excited to play with her beloved string. Though she does have fun playing, Esmerelda has arthritis that requires medication, which she happily eats up when it's mixed in with her wet food or a tube of churu.   Esmerelda is an affectionate, loving kitty who enjoys telling you about her day and relaxing with afternoon lap naps. If no laps are available, she is very fond of being tucked under a blanket to dream the afternoon away.    Esmerelda is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested negative for FeLV and FIV. If you are interested in setting up a meeting or have more questions, please complete our Adoption Inquiry form at https://form.jotform.com/cattownoak/adoption-inquiries !   Best Match: Seeking an adopter with some cat experience Could join a calm home with older kids and teens Prefers to be the only cat Requires medication to stay happy and healthy July 3, 2024, 4:44 pm

Story
Meet Thunder:  a big tabby boy with an even bigger personality. Friendly, affectionate, and confident, this lovebug craves attention and wants to be up close and personal with his people. He is a major lap cat, and sleeps on his foster at night. His foster reports that he “sometimes sleeps in my arms with his paws wrapped around my neck and kisses my face.” (You may be getting the sense that Thunder isn’t much for personal space or boundaries.)   Thunder is a curious, intelligent cat who loves to explore and investigate. He eagerly approaches new people and makes a beeline for any item that catches his eye. He is intensely interested in the outside world and may try to sneak out every once in a while. He is also fascinated by laughing and crying, and will come in close to investigate and lick your face.    Thunder is looking for an easygoing, cat-savvy adopter in an adults-only home with no children, as he does like to let you know when he is done being pet or needs to play- so knowing to watch body language is key. He would do best in a home with other cats. He loves to surprise, pounce, and wrestle his cat buddies, so you’ll want to make sure the resident cat(s) would enjoy that kind of play. Thunder happily eats the special diet that keeps his stomach happy, chats away with people and cats alike, and loves a good snooze in a sunny window.   From his funny, loud meow that sounds like a cartoon character to his snoring and silly sleeping positions, Thunder’s big personality means that there will always be plenty of antics to keep you entertained.    Could you be the perfect match for this fun and funny guy? Thunder is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested negative for FeLV and positive for FIV. If you are interested in setting up a meeting or have more questions, please complete our Adoption Inquiry form !   Best Match: Seeking an adopter with extensive cat experience Needs an adult-only home Needs a home with other cats Needs a special diet to stay happy and healthy July 3, 2024, 4:44 pm

Story
Handsome Elton has had an eventful life for a young fella. Due to an injury he had upon arrival at the shelter, he had surgery on his hip and had to have his tail amputated, which left him with an adorable little stump. But whatever travails he suffered in his wild youth, they did not tarnish his worldview, as he has become quite the charmer and a lap cat who loves having his head brushed.   Elton's usual schedule is breakfast, then a hop and a jump up to the top of his play structure, where he sits and watches the outside world until he decides it is playtime. At that point, Elton jumps up and zooms about the house until he's worked off his energy, then settles into bed for his day-long nap.    Elton greets his people at the door when they return from work for the day, chirping and meowing and weaving around their legs. He likes a little wand play time after dinner, then at bedtime heads to his sleeping spot. In the morning he heads to his peoples' bedroom to greet them and request breakfast.   Elton is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested negative for FeLV and FIV. If you are interested in setting up a meeting or have more questions, please complete our Adoption Inquiry form!   Best Match: Seeking an adopter with cat experience Could join a calm home with older kids and teens Needs to be indoor only July 3, 2024, 4:44 pm

Story
Best Match: Seeking an adopter with extensive cat experience Will be most comfortable in a quiet, adult only home Prefers to be the only cat   If you asked Vega to describe her ideal day, it would start and end with playtime, for sure. Even just a few minutes here and there, with plenty of breaks, makes her happy. Vega prefers having you as a playmate, but can just as easily amuse herself. She is a great soccer player and especially loves chasing and capturing wand toys. She’ll parade her catch triumphantly out of the room. Now it’s your turn to fetch!   Vega is also a big fan of a nice chat. She’s very expressive, with a range of conversation modes. You’ll hear lots of chirping during playtime, complaints if you pick her up, and little meows (and meaningful stares) when she is looking for attention. An excellent day has to include plenty of snoozing, too. Vega often likes to nap near her people, including sleeping at the foot of the bed at night.   Vega loves to climb on cat trees or shelves to get a birds-eye view on the goings-on below. She prefers a proper drinking glass to a bowl of water. And while she’s happy to entertain you with her active antics and charming conversation, Vega prefers more of a hands-off relationship. While petting is not really her favorite thing right now, you might be surprised to find that she’s perfectly fine with you trimming her nails.   Are you ready to meet Vega? You’ll never be bored with this lively girl around. She is always up to something and finds everything new and exciting. Vega is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested negative for FeLV and FIV. If you are interested in setting up a meeting or have more questions, please complete our Adoption Inquiry Form ! Mostly, he wants to get hugs and rubs and sit on laps. I think if I let him sit on my lap all day that's what he would do. He is a total charmer and even well-behaved at the vet. He has been to two vet appointments (the first to get his shots, etc.) and then to OakVet. Without exception, all the vet techs and the doctors who have met him have fallen in love with him. He is such a good, sweet boy, and even before I rescued him from living outside. As you can tell, I really care about him. BigMan has had a full dental, he has tested positive for FIV. He is currently healthy but is positive for the FIV antibody. It is hopeful than a loving home can be found for BigMan as an indoor cat. BigMan is up to date on vaccinations, is positive for FIV, Negative for Feline Leukemia, and is microchipped.

Story
Momo is a sweet love bug who loves being snuggled and picked up for extra closeness. He purs loudly when picked up, not at all picky about who he shares his affection with. He’s in it for the attention and cuddles. Momo is bonded with his sister Ami, they both have been very good with my large dog. Ami is very beautiful, but is haunted by the ghost of a Victorian child and mostly keeps to herself. One time i accidentally locked her in the closet for hours and she was unfazed, clearly she has experience with this. Once she warms up to you, you’ll find her sleeping next to you on the couch from time to time and if you are lucky you can pet her as well. Ami has already had her first heat. I found him and his sister poking around the dumpsters near the yoga studio I own a couple months ago and Momo was so charming I took them in. I can no longer support the sweet young’s cats (I believe they are around 6 or 7 months old) and am hoping to find a good home for them.
