Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Amaretto is a 2 year old young lady that one of our volunteers rescued from a precarious life. She was living with her littermates on the street in a high danger zone. We couldn't leave them there, so our volunteer took all of them in to give them a chance at life. Amaretto is a shy girl, it will take her a while to warm up to her humans, but once she does, you have a friend for life. We know she appreciates having been rescued and wants to trust people so badly but it just takes her a little time. She could easily join a home with another cat or cat savvy dog. She is particularly fond of one of her siblings. So if you are interested in adopting a pair, please look at Kahlua's bio as well. They do not need to be adopted together, but if interested in two kitties, they would be a great duo. Because of her initial shyness, we would be open to a foster-to-adopt program with her. If you think she might be the one for you but want to do a trial period to make sure, we can arrange that. She loves her cat tree and soft beds in her foster home. And she is very treat motivated, so that would be a fast track to bonding with her. She just needs a forever person or family to give her a chance. We know her purrfect person will see her post and know she is the one! She has been spayed, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, vaccinated, dewormed, flea treatment applied and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $150.November 5, 2024, 9:13 pm

He loves to be pet and rubs up against your legs to show his thankfulness to you. He especially loves mealtime, where he is the most vocal. He can't wait to see what's for breakfast, lunch and dinner! He could easily join a home with another cat or cat savvy dog. He is particularly fond of one of his siblings. So if you are interested in adopting a pair, please look at Amaretto's bio as well. They do not need to be adopted together, but if interested in two kitties, they would be a great duo. And for that reason, we would be open to a foster-to-adopt program with him. If you think he might be the one for you but want to do a trial period to make sure, we can arrange that. Regardless, he is a great guy and deserves the best life ever. Can you make his dreams come true? He has been neutered, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, vaccinated, dewormed, flea treatment applied and microchipped. His adoption fee is $150.November 5, 2024, 9:13 pm

She has been living with a couple other resident cats and four large breed dogs in her current foster home, so she is very well socialized and could join pretty much any kind of family dynamic.  She would be a great option for a home that wants a friend for an existing kitty or a cat savvy dog. She would also be fine with children. She would be just as happy being an only cat if you are looking for just one kitty to devote all your time too. She is very easy going. She has a very snuggly personality and loves to sleep with her humans in bed at night. She is confident, affectionate and smart. An all-round great kitty. He is very sweet and loves to hang out with his people on the couch while watching TV or snuggling next to them on the bed at night. He also enjoys his cat tree, so that would be a must in his new home. He also is a foodie which has contributed to making him the beautiful big boy he is. He has the sweetest meow. He loves to let you know when he needs some love and will meow at you until you pay attention to him. He's been going to our adoption events for many months now, but he always gets overlooked because he is a little shy in new surroundings. But once he is home and with his people, he is one of the best cats we have. He would love to find his forever home, this fabulous guy has waited long enough. Could he be the one for you? He sure hopes so! Damon has been neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, dewormed, flea treatment applied and microchipped. His adoption fee is $150.November 5, 2024, 9:13 pm

We got a call that a kitty and her little ones were living in some bushes in an apartment complex and were in desperate need of rescue. Our volunteers sprang into action and were able to get Shell and her babies to safety. After a trip to the vet and given the all clear, we placed them into one of our loving foster homes where they have been thriving. Shell has the sweetest personality. She has been so gentle to all the humans that have helped her, its like she knows she's been given a second chance at life. She doesn't have to worry where her next meal is coming from or be anxious about anything hurting her babies. She gets to nap all day and get lots of kisses and cuddles from her foster home. She has just discovered toys and is starting to play. Poor girl hasn't had a chance to be a kitten herself, well now is the time. She would love to have a cat tree in her forever home. Yummy treats and a water fountain. We think she could be a great addition to a home dynamic that has another cat, cat savvy dog or kids. We also think she would be just as content being your one and only. She is very easygoing. She can't wait to meet you. Apply to adopt this spectacular girl today! She has been spayed, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, vaccinated, dewormed, flea treatment applied and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $200.November 5, 2024, 9:13 pm

This lovely lady is ready to be pampered and treated like the queen she is in her golden years! If you're interested in gaining a gentle, devoted companion, email us about Amelia today! Story
How this pet arrived: Excelsior was brought in by his previous owner on September 28, 2024. Why this pet is the one for you:Introducing Excelsior, a gentle soul looking for a patient and loving home. This shy kitty is still adjusting to human companionship, having spent most of his life surrounded by other cats. Excelsior thrives on the bond built through treats, toys, and playtime, so he'll appreciate your efforts to connect over fun activities. It's important not to force interactions; instead, let him come to you at his own pace. With a little time and understanding, you can build a strong, special bond as you earn his trust. Excelsior will need to go to a home with an established, social cat to help him navigate his new environment or be adopted alongside one of his current roommates. If you're ready to provide a safe space for this sweet boy to flourish, Excelsior is waiting to start his next chapter with you! Story
How this pet arrived: Mr. Bluebell was brought in by his previous owner on August 25, 2024.Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Mr. Bluebell, a sweet and timid soul in search of patience and understanding. This fearful feline will need extra time to adjust, so an extended introduction period is essential in helping him feel safe. Mr. Bluebell would benefit from having another cat at home for social support, as he's used to living with multiple feline friends. He would love to have plenty of safe hiding spots and high perches where he can observe his surroundings. Mr. Bluebell's new family should allow him to come out of his shell at his own pace and avoid forcing interactions. Due to his sensitive nature, he'll likely do best in a home without young children or dogs. If you're ready to welcome this sweet boy into your home, come by our Oceanside Campus and adopt him today! Story
How this pet arrived: Ginger was brought in by her previous owner on September 19, 2024. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Ginger! This lovely lady is the red tabby of your dreams! Ginger adores attention, but she prefers it on her own terms - after all, a queen deserves to be treated like one! Ginger can be easily overstimulated at times and requires a cat-savvy household without children - this basically means that even though she loves attention, she can be easily overwhelmed and requires frequent breaks. She would love to sit on your lap and enjoy a movie night, but may not want to be pet the whole time. Ginger would thrive in a home with plenty of space to roam and a big cat tree to relax on. Ginger also has quite the vocal range and isn't shy about letting you know when she wants attention or treats! She's a charming gal and is ready to share that charm with her new family! Don't forget to bring a large, hard-sided cat carrier for a safe journey home! For more information about overexcited cats, please Click here.
