Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Amaretto is a 2 year old young lady that one of our volunteers rescued from a precarious life. She was living with her littermates on the street in a high danger zone. We couldn't leave them there, so our volunteer took all of them in to give them a chance at life. Amaretto is a shy girl, it will take her a while to warm up to her humans, but once she does, you have a friend for life. We know she appreciates having been rescued and wants to trust people so badly but it just takes her a little time. She could easily join a home with another cat or cat savvy dog. She is particularly fond of one of her siblings. So if you are interested in adopting a pair, please look at Kahlua's bio as well. They do not need to be adopted together, but if interested in two kitties, they would be a great duo. Because of her initial shyness, we would be open to a foster-to-adopt program with her. If you think she might be the one for you but want to do a trial period to make sure, we can arrange that. She loves her cat tree and soft beds in her foster home. And she is very treat motivated, so that would be a fast track to bonding with her. She just needs a forever person or family to give her a chance. We know her purrfect person will see her post and know she is the one! She has been spayed, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, vaccinated, dewormed, flea treatment applied and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $150.November 5, 2024, 9:13 pm

He loves to be pet and rubs up against your legs to show his thankfulness to you. He especially loves mealtime, where he is the most vocal. He can't wait to see what's for breakfast, lunch and dinner! He could easily join a home with another cat or cat savvy dog. He is particularly fond of one of his siblings. And for that reason, we would be open to a foster-to-adopt program with him. If you think he might be the one for you but want to do a trial period to make sure, we can arrange that. She has been living with a couple other resident cats and four large breed dogs in her current foster home, so she is very well socialized and could join pretty much any kind of family dynamic.  She would be a great option for a home that wants a friend for an existing kitty or a cat savvy dog. She would also be fine with children. She would be just as happy being an only cat if you are looking for just one kitty to devote all your time too. She is very easy going. She has a very snuggly personality and loves to sleep with her humans in bed at night. She is confident, affectionate and smart. An all-round great kitty. If you think she is the one you have been searching for, apply to adopt this sweetheart as she is sure to be the 'cherry' on top of all your days! He also enjoys his cat tree, so that would be a must in his new home. He also is a foodie which has contributed to making him the beautiful big boy he is. He has the sweetest meow. He loves to let you know when he needs some love and will meow at you until you pay attention to him. He's been going to our adoption events for many months now, but he always gets overlooked because he is a little shy in new surroundings. But once he is home and with his people, he is one of the best cats we have. He would love to find his forever home, this fabulous guy has waited long enough. Could he be the one for you? He sure hopes so! Damon has been neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, dewormed, flea treatment applied and microchipped. His adoption fee is $150.November 5, 2024, 9:13 pm

Story
How this pet arrived: Louie was brought in by his previous owner on August 6, 2024.Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Louie, the ultimate senior gentleman who's ready to grace your home with his distinguished and majestic presence! Louie is a sweet, head-butting love bug who can't resist a good head scratch or a cozy brushing session. Louie has a refined palate - wet food is his absolute favorite. Additionally, Louie will need vet visits once or twice a year to monitor his kidney values and his overall health, to keep him healthy! But let's get one thing straight: Louie has absolutely no tolerance for canine companions. Dogs beware - Louie runs a strict no-dog policy and isn't afraid to enforce it with a swift paw of justice. He's looking for a quiet, dog-free home where he can enjoy his golden years in peace. With a little patience and understanding, Louie will soon settle in and be your best feline friend. Be sure to bring a cat carrier when you come to meet him - Louie is ready to go home! Primary Color: Brown Tabby Weight: 12.4 Age: 12yrs 3mths 1wks

Story
I’m looking to rehome my 12-year-old cat, a gentle, affectionate soul who truly shines in a calm, peaceful environment. She’s incredibly loving once she trusts you, and she’ll happily sit by your side for companionship and snuggles. Due to changes in our household, we can no longer provide her with the environment she needs to feel safe and secure. She is very anxious around other animals and would do best as the only pet. Additionally, she has a history of marking territory, which has led to consistent peeing on various surfaces in her dedicated space, despite being litter-box trained. This behavior has been difficult to manage and does require careful attention. If you can offer her a quiet, low-stress home without other pets or young children, she has the potential to flourish and be a loyal, loving companion. This is a heartfelt decision, and I hope to find someone with the patience and understanding to give her the specialized care she deserves.
