Story
Description:  Thor and Yoda are a bonded pair who have been spending their time warming up to human touch.  They love being with their people, curious about them and what they are doing.  They are most comfortable at a distance, but love being talked to and petted just before they eat.  They have gotten used to snuggling beside their foster person and enjoying a peaceful snooze on the couch.  They enjoy sleeping in any soft place where there is a window to watch outside and soak  up sunlight. The wand toy is their favorite!  It makes them run and jump like crazy.  They will be happiest in a home with a family who has patience and will continue to socialize and nurture them as part of the family.  Good with Cats: Yes  Good with Dogs:  No.  Good with Children:  No Companion Animal: This pair is bonded and must be adopted together.   Health information: All cats and kittens will be spayed or neutered, FeLV / FIV tested, receive vaccinations appropriate for age, preventative deworming, and microchipping prior to adoption Adoption Process:   Our adoptable animals are located at one of our adoption centers or in foster homes. I would do well in a home with another chill and relaxed kitty friend but I would also do great on my own! If I sound like your cup of tea, then come and meet me!! Story
Approximate Date of Birth:3/5/2020 Description:   My name is Tesoro, which means treasure in Italian. But I am also known by my spy name, the Silver Streak, because of the speed and agility I displayed when working as a field agent! After my career as a spy, living off the land by my wits, I came in from the cold to birth my children. They grew up and left home, but I have decided not to return to my life of undercover intrigue. I am ready to settle into a quiet life of napping and free food in a climate controlled environment. Because of my former life I am still a bit skittish and wary of new people, but patience and squeeze up treats can bring me out of my shell. I still crave excitement sometimes, but would be happy to satisfy myself with a secure surveillance window where I can keep an eye on things for you and hunting down and disposing of the occasional fly or moth that may try to infiltrate our home. Do you need an intelligence-trained stealth kitty? I am willing to work for room, board and love. Words to Describe Me: shy, quiet, food-motivated Favorite Place to Sleep: Top of the cat tree or a warm, secure corner Favorite Toy: live prey or stuffed or feathered practice prey Perfect Day: An early breakfast, comfortable nap, shift at the window, ridding the house of any flying or six-legged interlopersreat, followed by a substantial supper & bedtime t Kitty's Likes: Tall cat trees with a window view Kitty's Dislikes: be held or approached too quickly Fastest Way to Get Me to Purr: smelly wet food or treats Favorite Treat: If it squeezes I eats it Job Title in Foster: The undercover agent When I Grow Up, I Want to Be: retired from The Game Other Info: Tessie needs someone patient and gentle. Story
This is Little Bit - a beautiful young kitty looking for a forever home. Sadly, her previous owner became homeless, and was unable to care for her anymore. She is around a year old, and is still learning how to be a cat. She was not socialized around other cats, and although she is making progress, she is still learning. She does seem to like dogs, or at least is used to them, as she had 3 doggie siblings. Maybe that is why she is always so interested in the dog food! 😂 She is still very much a kitten - playful, energetic, curious, mischievous… Besides learning to interact with other cats nicely, she is still learning some people skills also. She likes attention, but on her terms, and is easily spooked by unfamiliar things. She can be bribed with Churu treats, and will become a great companion with some time and patience. Her favorite spot is a perch up high where she can feel safe and see everything that is going on. She should be in a home with someone who is experienced with cats and is willing to give her the love and time necessary to feel comfortable. Older kids only, and a home without other cats to start (she is particular about who she likes). Cat friendly dogs would be ideal. She is getting close to her one year birthday, and has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and is FeLV/FIV negative. If you would love to give this beauty the chance to shine, please fill out an adoption application at www.valleydogs.org. She is looking for a kingdom where she can be the queen! pattisenechal@yahoo.com

Story
Hi! My name is Kandee! I can be very sweet like my name with adults - but sassy around children or other cats (so I prefer to not live with them). When you call for me, I'll come for head and chin scratches - they're my favorite! I'm looking for a chill home that will jive with my unique personality. Is it you? Come meet me to find out!No appointments are necessary and you can come see us anytime we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our cats to fill out a consultation form - this form helps us determine if the cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo without knowing the personality of the cat. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL cats are available to the first potential adopter who we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a - 2p, Wednesday 3p - 7p, Thursday 3p - 7p, Friday 10a - 2p, Saturday 10a - 4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Prince is a orange tabby with a handsome coat and face.  He is approximately 5-7 years old. He has lived in a shelter  for a number of years after his owner passed away.  Prince is a very cautious guy around new humans but loves the company of other cats. He has come a long way since first arriving at the shelter. He enjoys being brushed, rubbed with scatcher, and petted on his back. He loves Fancy Feast too! Prince would be consider a "socially awkward cat".  What is a socially awkward cat?  Some cats are shy, timid, or fearful of people and other cats. They may hide, avoid, or even lash out when approached by strangers. These cats are not mean or unlovable; they are just socially awkward and need extra time and patience to trust and bond with their human companions. They may never become affectionate lap cats, but they have their own unique ways of showing love and appreciation. If you are looking for a cat who will challenge you, surprise you, and reward you with loyalty and devotion, then you might be the perfect match for one of our socially awkward cats.   Because these cats require more patience and understanding than most, we have a few special policies regarding them:   We will ask more questions about your home environment, other pets, children, and other details to make sure you are the right match for the cat. Please don't be discouraged if you are not the right fit! We have many other cats, and one of them is sure to be a fit. We typically arrange video meet-and-greets for these cats for the initial contact. Most of these cats get stressed out by new situations, and allowing them to be seen without that stress trigger makes for a better experience for everyone. We may discount the adoption fees for these cats. Our first priority is to find the right match between cat and human, and we realize that these kitties may take more time than most to settle in and determine compatibility.   If you think you may be the right fit for Prince or another one of our socially awkward cats, please fill out an interest form today!  Prince has become bonded to his bestie Bourbon - they do everything together and help each other navigate the scariness of the world together!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.    Our adoption fee is $175       If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Cat Interest Form on AZRAIN.ORG and, if you are selected as a prospective adopter, we will contact you to set up a meet and greet. Thank you for considering rescuing an animal in need!     November 15, 2024, 9:59 am
