Story
We adopted this sweet girl from a shelter in Nova Scotia in 2019. At some point before we met her she was declawed, which has led to severe anxiety around other cats. The shelter said she was four years old but after she was diagnosed with kidney disease and hyperthyroidism her vet suggested she is likely a senior cat, ~14. Ana is an absolute darling with people and will curl up in your lap at every opportunity, but is nervous around cats and dogs. She would do really well in a quiet, cosy home with lots of time around her people. She also loves to explore the outdoors in her harness and leash, and going for walks in her matching backpack (included!). Her conditions are fairly well controlled with twice-weekly subcutaneous fluids injections, two daily meds and a monthly arthritis shot. She has pet insurance (Pets Plus Us 90% coverage, excluding arthritis). Ana is active and happy when properly medicated — I'd love to see her safely rehomed and making the most of her end of life.

Story
Nellie is a sweet but timid kitty who has been living with her foster home for three years now. She`s come a long way since she came to BARS as a pregnant stray cat! Although easily spooked, she loves to chase the laser pointer, play with string, get pets from her foster mom, and snuggle with other kitties. Nellie is continuously learning how to trust people, but she will curl up by her foster mom`s feet and is always hanging out in the main room, scoping out the situation and looking for a reflection to chase. She`s truly a special cat and has been very low maintenance in her foster home! She would do well in a home with no dogs, children who are good with cats, and needs another kitty friend to show her the ropes.

Story
This black panther is Jinx. He is very sociable, always looking for a lap to cuddle into. He loves to groom you while being petted. He does enjoy chasing balls, the wand toy and toy mice. He likes to chirp in greeting when you walk into the room. He is good with children and comfortable with other cats.Jinx needs to eat specially formulated food for his urinary tract health, which can be bought at pet stores. For his health, frequently feeding wet food is also recommended to ensure he gets lots of moisture in his diet!

Story
Hi! I`m Taylor, and I`ve been with BARS for almost 3 years!! I came into care as a young feral mama to be, and had my babies the very next day!!! Since coming into care I`ve learned that there are humans that can be trusted, and the best humans for me are those that will let me be me, and let me do things at my own pace. Some days I like being petted, and will sleep at my foster humans` feet most nights. Other days I`m more skittish and am happier on my own. I can still spook easily, and I don`t know if I`ll ever be a lap cat ( although it looks like it could be nice if I get brave enough). I`m used to being around other cats, and get on great with my doggy foster brother too! I love to play when I think no one is watching me, and I love bird and gopher watching from the cat tree too!

Story
Hello, I`m Lynx. I`m a (young) senior, but don`t let that fool you. I still have plenty of love to give. I`m sweet and gentle, and while I am very shy at first, once I get to know you, I`ll be your loyal companion. I`m also a smart boy, I love puzzle toys!My Hu-Mom that brought me home as a kitten all those years ago got sick and was unable to keep me so I am back with BARS for now. Since returning, I`ve been diagnosed with diabetes, but my foster Mom says I`m `an absolute champ` at taking my insulin injections.I absolutely love to flop over for my foster Mom and show her my white tummy, and when she sits with me I like to curl up in her lap. It took a while for me to trust that I was safe but after building trust she says I am a purrfect housemate!I don`t like loud environments and while I have lived with other cats and a small dog, I would also be happy being your only best boy! I also need a home who is willing to work with my diabetes, which includes twice-daily insulin injections and scheduled feeding. If you`d like to know more about me, reach out to the BARS Feline Team! If you`re looking for a calm older kitty, give me a chance and I promise, you won`t regret it!
