Story
Howdy folks, I'm Dolly Parton! Just like my namesake, I'm a sweet lady with awesome hair who is excited to live with my #1 fan! I came from a previous home with a LOT of other cats, which has its pluses and minuses. Plus side: I'm really good at living with other cats. Minus: I haven't really had tons of experience meeting new people, so I can be kind of scared of new human friends at first. But once I realize you're only there for pets and attention, I warm up quick! I'll just need a family who understands me and accepts me for who I am. If I sound like the lady for you, apply to meet Dolly Parton!

Story
Hey friends, my name is Linda! I'm a sweet little floofy lady who is ready for her new home! I might be a little shy when I first meet new people, but it doesn't take long for me to warm up with some pets and attention - I love a good snuggle session! I came from a previous home where there were a LOT of other cats, so I'm used to living around other feline friends. If I sound like the cat for you, apply to meet Linda!

Story
A scarred face, a bent ear - and a huge heart. That's Hitchhiker, who dreams of a forever home and people to love. "He's a hitchhiker - just passing through," or so the farmer thought when the cat showed up at her farm. He seemed very rough, maybe feral. But all he wanted was food and help, and he got both. Now in a 9 Lives foster home, Hitchhiker has revealed his true colors. Coming from a hard life in survival mode, he turned out to be incredibly forgiving, with lots of love in his heart. Having been hungry in his life, he loves food. But what Hitch wants more than anything is a person or two to love him and care for him. Hitch's ideal home would be with a person who is home most of the day, and willing to give a lot of reassurance. Hitch's personality is confident, curious, and outgoing. He's smart and loves people. He's very quiet and undemanding when he's alone, but happy and vocal when you're with him. We don't know if he would get along with dogs or other cats. Hitchhiker is also a cat with FIV, which means he has a compromised immune system. FIV is kind of like human HIV - it doesn't "do" anything to you itself, but it weakens your immune system so you're more susceptible to other attacks on your health and can't fight them off as well. There's no cure, but cats with FIV typically lead normal and full-length lives. FIV is passed through deep bite wounds, so FIV-positive cats can live with FIV-negative cats, provided they do not fight. Even if Hitch were to get in a little scuffle; he's missing most of his teeth including all of his canines, as they were severely fractured when he came to 9 Lives Rescue and had to be pulled. With care, Hitch will be somebody's loving boy for years to come. Fill out an adoption application, and Hitch's foster will get in touch with you to arrange a home visit so you can meet this lovable boy! Hitchhiker is neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FeLV, and microchipped.

Story
My husband and I adopted Fawkes from a Pet Smart in Austin, TX in October of 2019 to accompany the cat we already had who really wanted a playmate. At this time we had Broccoli, our other cat, and a large Australian Cattle Dog/Husky Mix. We were also Rover sitters so we had a revolving door of cats and dogs in our home and she was great with all of them. She does take a little while to warm up to visitors - human or animal. She usually hides and observes until she feels comfortable enough to interact. She absolutely LOVES to cuddle - if your lap is open she will be on it. The only thing she may love more than affection is catnip. She has always been an indoor cat but when we had a house in Texas she liked to sit on the back patio - she never once wandered off. We are very sadly having to rehome Fawkes because since having our kids - 1.5 and 3 months - she has not been herself. Fawkes will do best and be happiest with a family with no young children. With everyone else she is so sweet!

Story
Camilla is a beautiful kitten that is firmly bonded to her brother Charles. He makes her feel safe. She is now a tri-pod cat. Camilla was born with a partial hind leg. She had nothing from the knee down. Because her leg was incomplete she damaged her skin with every step and walking was painful. Amputation made for a better situation. She is a very active cat now that she doesn't have to drag a useless limb around. Camilla still takes a bit to get to know and trust but once she does, it is magic. This cat attends adoption events at our Verona Adoption Center.READY TO ADOPT? It could be because they are a bonded pair, are a little bit shy, or have FIV. Maybe they had a medical concern that took us a while to work through. Sometimes, though, we have no idea what is taking so long! These kitties all deserve love. Don't let them be forgotten! Camilla and Charles' adoption fee is $75 for the pair (add on mom Leanne for no additional adoption fee.)

Story
It's hard to believe this handsome guy was ever a stray, but that he was. He started sneaking into our yard from time to time to grab a bite to eat. He seemed too sweet to be an outdoor cat and since we just happen to love stray cats, we brought him inside. Benjamin was definitely very shy with us at first. But once we coaxed him out of his shell, he was cuddly, charismatic, and playful. He loves to lay by your legs and get all the belly rubs. He will get as close as he possibly can to you and settle in for all the love. He really can't get enough belly rubs and neck scratches. Ben is a very laid-back, gentle cat, but he will go full beast mode on toys from time to time. He loves cat trees, climbing, chasing toys, and being close to his people. He will come running to you if you call his name and wants nothing more than to be loved and please his people. He will look to his humans for reassurance that he is doing okay and loves to hear words of praise. He's a pretty tender-hearted boy, but lacks confidence at times, and needs that positive reinforcement. Ben would thrive in a quiet, low-key, loving environment. He does get a bit overwhelmed with too much noise and chaos. He has to be allowed time to adapt to his new home at his own pace. It will take a bit of time for him to fully trust his new family, but Ben is definitely worth it. He does need a family that will be with him more than they're away from him. He is an incredible cat, a wonderful companion, and just has the sweetest disposition. He really is at his best when he's with his people. Est. DOB October 2021, Benjamin is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV.
