Story
Cats-the most effective, affordable and environmentally friendly pest control method! The barn cat, also known as a feral cat, is a domestic cat, usually of mixed breed, that lives primarily out-of-doors, in a feral or semi-feral condition on agricultural properties, usually sheltering in outbuildings.Individuals interested in adopting barn cats must be able to provide the cats with shelter, food, water, and vet care. Barns, outbuildings, factories, and warehouses are all considered suitable shelters for the cats. All barn cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated against rabies, and ear-tipped.If you are interested in adopting a barn cat please fill out the adoption questionnaire and a member of the adoption center team will contact you!*cats pictured are not available*

Story
*The pets pictured in this posting are just ad pictures not available pets.*The Yakima Humane Society provides care for thousands of animals each year, some of which require time in foster care before they are ready to be adopted. Fostering a homeless pet is both a rewarding and enriching experience; it is also great for families or individuals who love animals but cannot commit to having a full-time companion animal. The care that dedicated Foster Care Families provide is invaluable, both to the animals fostered and the people that adopt them. You can foster as much or as little as you like, and we need foster homes for a wide variety of animals - kittens, puppies, cats, dogs, and an occasional small & furry animal! You can learn more about our foster program and fill out an application athttp://www.yakimahumane.org/get-involved/foster/.*The pets pictured in this posting are just ad pictures not available pets.*

Story
Meet Clarice, a three month old female kitten. Clarice was found in a bin left by the dumpster with her siblings when staff showed up one morning. She is easy to handle and wants attention but is still a little unsure of shelter life. We are sure she will warm up extremely fast. Please remember that Clarice is a kitten and kitten behavior comes with the package. They need lots of toys and places to scratch to learn good scratching habits. They also need patience as they finesse their litter box skills in a new home they are unfamiliar with. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.  If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854. Did you know YHS lets local community members FOSTER TO ADOPT??That’s where you and the pet make sure you’re a good fit for one another by having a fun sleepover prior to finalizing your adoption. It’s a win-win for everyone! Just ask our front desk staff about how it works.??Interested in adopting this or another YHS pet??Please complete our adoption questionnaire found at: https://yakimahumane.org/adopt/apply/?Our adoption fee includes a lovable companion, spay/neuter, vaccinations and intestinal worming, flea/tick treatment, rabies vaccine (for pets over 3-4 months of age) and a microchip with nationwide registration. Your adoption fee helps support YHS and our spay/neuter efforts in the community to end overpopulation of cats and dogs.If you have any questions, please e-mail us at adoption@yakimahumane.org.
