Story
The calico is one of three kittens we "acquired," along with their mother, as malnourished strays in our rural neighborhood. After feeding them outside for a while, we have gotten them into an otherwise unused upstairs room. The orange kitten is male, the tabby (and of course the calico) are female. All are available for adoption. Of the three, the tabby girl is the most playful, the orange boy is the most wary, the calico is the most self-contained. All three have proved to be well balanced and adaptable; for example, they show appropriate wariness but without panic in their limited contact with our well-behaved and cat-tolerant dog. They are all on the quiet and gentle side, but becoming more playful as they have settled in. The pictures don't show it, but the kittens, like their mother, all have kinks in their tails.

Story
I am quite the traveler! When we lost our home in Florida during Hurricane Ian, we came to the PNW to find a new place to call home. However, recovering from the financial loss has been tough on my mom and we've been staying with her friends. We're grateful for a roof over us but I've been cooped up in one bedroom for way too long because the resident cat is very hostile to me! Mom figured I'd be better in a home of my own, especially since I've been Feline Leukemia (FeLV) positive since I was born. It was thought I had shed the virus but I guess not. That means I need to be your only kitty or I could live with another kitty that has FeLV if they want company! I'm a very sweet girl and have a few tricks I like to try. I like to try to get the top off the treat jar with my paws. When I think it's time to get mom up, I try to nip her nose to tell her it's time to wake up. I also try to straighten her hair by pulling at the crown. I loved my prior housemates. Jody, 90 lb German Shepherd and Domino, the 14-year-old male cat. It takes me a little time to feel secure and warm up but I've gotten so much better since traveling by car from Florida and being confined for the past couple of months! If you have room in your heart for a sweet girl and no other cats, or one like me, fill out at application and let's meet to see what we think of each other! You won't be sorry!November 5, 2024, 12:47 pm

Story
Shadow Fax was brought to us with four kittens. She had guardians that provided as much protection as they could but live in Hockinson and is not a safe spot for her to go back to. She has a healed head injury and a bite wound on her leg which we suspect contributes to an extreme overreaction to fear. The source of fear may come from wildlife, outside human activities, dog barking, anything that she sees as threatening her safety. When she feels under threat, she is destructive while trying to escape(blinds, screens, other property in the way of her means of escape)and will bite if you try to control her when she is in this state. She has the ability to bond with people and will then tolerate being picked up and handled, purring even …but when she’s afraid, she is fierce. Over the months, she has acclimated to a home environment but hovers around the edges, checking the view outside at all the windows and coming forward when meal time. She chortles when feeling sociable and will sleep on the bed at night now. She then gets silly during those moments when you wake up and she’s there, flopping about for pets and tapping your fingers. She is now much more comfortable about being approached by a trusted human and picked up. She adores the male cat in the household. We understand she is an accomplished mouser so, as much as it pains us, we are looking for a barn, shop or catio where she can land or if you are willing to give her a long adjustment period, a house setting. We think it best if she had the companionship of another cat or colony. If Shadow Fax seems like a cat you could accept into your life, please go to sccpets.com and fill out an app. She is spayed and vaccinated. Spread the word also….Thank you.November 5, 2024, 12:47 pm

Story
Yeah, it's kind of a silly name for a guy, but I am kind of 'puffy' in places with my medium tabby and white hair. I have big, striking yellow eyes and when one of them had issues - probably from the big cat that was picking on me outside - I was brought inside by the person that had been looking out for me. My eye healed just fine but I did test positive for FIV after that. Even though I'm fine with being inside, I would like a little safe outdoor time with you if possible but if not...just make sure I don't dash out the door to explore on my own! I shouldn't be around other cats that want to fight with me. I am only a little over 1 year old so I have a long life ahead of me. I love having my neck scratched but can be a little touchy about my belly or tail. I do like to play but like the quiet times too. No loud noises, sudden fast movements or hyper kids for me please! I am scared of dogs so none of those either! I haven't been around other cats except the outdoor ones, so being you're one and only fur baby would be wonderful. I have been neutered, tested negative for Feline Leukemia (but positive for FIV), microchipped, vaccinated, and treated for parasites (just in case). I'm now excited to start a new furever life - maybe with you?!? Please go to www.sccpets.com and fill out the application and we'll meet and see if we're a good match!About FIV:FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). Well what the heck does that mean?!?? Let me explain. How does FIV affect my cat? FIV-positive cats can have a weaker immune system, so they can be more prone to getting infections. However, if your cat is kept indoors, risk of getting infections are very low! FIV-positive cats don’t require frequent vet visits or daily medication. Given routine care and attention, an FIV+ cat will live the same lifespan as an FIV negative cat. How is FIV spread? The most common route of infection is a deep bite wound from an FIV-positive cat to another cat. It can also be transmitted via blood, in utero and from the milk of an infected mother cat. However, kittens can test positive for FIV under 6 months of age because they carry the mother’s antibodies. It is very rare for cats to get FIV from being around infected cats or sharing food bowls. It is not transmissable to humans. Can they live with other animals? Yes! FIV-positive cats can live with FIV-negative cats in the same home for years without spreading the virus. Cats cannot spread FIV to other types of animals.November 5, 2024, 12:47 pm
